Re: Microsoft Says Call of Duty and Activision Games Will Keep Releasing on PlayStation Beyond Current Deals

eagletrippin

Of course, anything they say now isn't any kind of verbal, binding contract. This "policy" could change at any time, and quite frankly, whenever Microsoft wants. And even if they are "committed" to keeping games on PlayStation, Microsoft could still make the cost to Sony so outrageously unreasonable that it's not profitable to even keep CoD on their platforms...

Re: Here's Your First Look at MLB The Show 22 on PS5

eagletrippin

So lame. If this is what [San Diego Studio] is going to give us β€” particularly charging $70 to their own PlayStation customers β€” then, shoot, Xbox can have them β€” The Show, and SDS. Lazy. No improvements to graphics β€” last year was acceptable, but not another year. Same graphics since at least 2014, if not earlier, just more pixels and higher framerate.

I might play this on Game Pass, but only for a few innings, not even a full game, just like last year, and then delete it.

Re: Sony Taking PSVR2 Pre-Order Sign-Ups Through Official Website

eagletrippin

@MasterEMFG ones with a lot fast forward motions. Ones that immediately come to mind were DriveClub, GT Sport, and Ace Combat 7. I remember trying AC7, taking off from the runway, and it felt like my eyes rolled into back of my head, like if you ever seen those videos of people that get to be a passenger on an air force jet fighter, and the person's eyes roll into the back of their head and they pass out and lose consciousness β€” that's exactly how I felt πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ Even slower moving games (like RE7, or Super Hyper Cube), I could only last about 15 minutes before taking the headset off. And this would lead to me having a ripping headache, feeling like I had a hangover, for the next 3 hours. Not fun. Eventually I had to sell it because I couldn't use it.

I calibrated the headset to the best of my knowledge, per the instructions provided by Sony. Things weren't blurry. I think I am just one of those unfortunate people that VR makes them nauseous.

But, I'm interested to see if this eye tracking (and FOVEA rendering?), along with haptic feedback in the headset can help the motion sickness in a significant way, enough for me to spend whatever the asking price will be PSVR2. But like I said, I will have to wait and see...

Re: Sony Stock Value Loses $20 Billion, But Will Likely Recover

eagletrippin

@Alduin True, true. I was a HUGE Sega guy back then, and loved the Dreamcast (still do, to this day), and when Sony (the upstart back then) basically forced them out of the console business, I wasn't very happy, either. Now Sony is on the other side of the table a bit.
However, I do still have concerns with Microsoft buying two ginormous once-3rd party publishers. Starting to feel like 10 years from now, it's going to be just Microsoft making consoles & games for mature gamers, and then we'll just have Nintendo and their quarky games for their own console, and Sony? Simply making boutique software-only like Nintendo or Sega? I could be exaggerating, I can only purely speculate, but such big moves by Microsoft feel like a monopoly, and they'll only be 2 consoles to choose from (MS & Nintendo) in a decade or so ...

Re: DAYYYTONA! Watch Gran Turismo 7 PS5 Gameplay of the International Speedway

eagletrippin

@ChromaticDracula lol. Oh wait, you are being serious. For one, the PS5 doesn't have limitless power to render any & all graphics in a universe within viewing distance. Sacrifices need to be made if you want it to run at 4k60. But also...how long are you fixated on the rearview during a race? In the heat of battle driving at 150+ mph your eyes should be on the road and cars ahead, and only glancing in your rearview mirror here & there ...

Re: DAYYYTONA! Iconic USA Speedway Returns in Gran Turismo 7 on PS5, PS4

eagletrippin

@Kidfunkadelic83 LOL. Ahhhh. Good luck, man. Convinced the wife to let me get a Playseat Challenge (portable folding chair) to haul up & down the stairs every play session. Then I started upgrading things, and it became too much of a pain to break down and carry all the time, so it just sat in the living room. Eventually, I chose to upgrade my rig to something more solid & permanent, and I moved everything to a corner in our upstairs loft, and let me tell you, boy was she happy, lol. So, try sim racing in your living room, then present it to your wife as 'See, wouldn't you rather I do this crap upstairs in the loft instead?'πŸ˜‚

Re: Upcoming PS5, PS4 Games for January and February 2022

eagletrippin

Assetto Corsa Competizione PS5 update, then GT7 (in March)... Maybe the Uncharted remaster, but only if I can upgrade from my purchased PS4 version for free or nominal fee... Elden Ring will get a look, I really liked Demon's Souls, but these games aren't typically my wheelhouse... I've yet to even complete Horizon ZD from PS+😬😬😬

Re: Game of the Year: #2 - Returnal

eagletrippin

@LiamCroft because it was also released on Microsoft Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One|X. The game wasn't unique to PlayStation or Xbox, hence why I don't see why it is a "PlayStation" Game of the Year or an "Xbox" Game of the Year. I think there should be 2 separate lists, that's all.

Hades is also a questionable one, when it was originally a Nintendo Switch game, and on top of that, a game from 2020!

Re: Not Everyone Had the Fortitude to Finish Returnal on PS5

eagletrippin

For most of us, it takes a real 'I will not quit' attitude to beat it. Took me nearly 10 times fighting my way uphill through the mud to finally beat Phreke. The bosses got easier after that. (Although Nemesis and the Biome 5 gauntlet were extremely hard, frustrating.) Definitely a 2-week struggle for me, and that was playing it every single day, multiple hours a day, dying, and then jumping right onto the saddle... Once you start Act 3, doing it all over again is easier. After the numerous updates since the release it's definitely been made easier to platinum it, with much better RNG.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Achieves 'Tangible' Realism on PS5 with Haptics, Ray Tracing, More

eagletrippin

@BrockSmith To be fair, even the current-gen console leader Forza H5 doesn't have Ray Tracing in-game β€” only when viewing the cars in the garage, and that's only when in Graphics mode...

But I agree, I wish ALL game developers would give us the Insomniac options of "Fidelity", "Performance", and "Performance Plus w/ Ray Tracing". Guess they can't all be great like Insomniac!

Re: Fanatec's Gran Turismo 7 Racing Wheel Available to Pre-Order from $700 Now

eagletrippin

@mikeym Yeah, that's what they said to me too, shipping costs... Ahh yeah that would make sense to wait until you move into a new house β€” putting together any of these rigs is a PITA, lol. If you can afford it, get a Podium DD PS4 from Fanatec's site, then sell the F1 wheel separately β€” I got $1000 for mine😲 Not including taxes, I basically got a new Podium DD for $800😁

Re: Fanatec's Gran Turismo 7 Racing Wheel Available to Pre-Order from $700 Now

eagletrippin

@mikeym Man, the F-GT with a Podium is life-alteringπŸ˜‚ Gran Turismo always felt boring to me. But now I am seeing how it was truly meant to played, at the highest fidelity as possible... I know that people spend 2x as much on 8020 rigs, with side-mounting for DD bases, etc. Maybe it's because I'm coming from the portable Playseat Challenge, but never do I feel any kind of movement whilst driving. Granted, I play at around 35% torque, nowhere near full power that others might...

Did you ever reach out to NLR? I contacted them asking how much it would cost for a universal seat bracket, in case I want to upgrade my seat; and also for replacement wheel support bars (I may have overtightened my wheel base β€” my fault β€” and I developed minor separations in the joint). Man, these jokers want $230 for the seat brackets, and $115 for the replacement bars! lol. I'm seeing if sweet talking them can get them to lower the cost for me...

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Rated for Release on PS5, PS4 Ahead of March Launch

eagletrippin

It's ironic, I just upgraded my rig (literally months in the making), and it's really given GT Sport new life β€” the game was so boring to me before, first with a gamepad, then with an entry-level wheel setup! Now I see all the great & fun things in this game that I've been missing the past 5 yearsπŸ˜‚

Start of next year is going to be amazing. Jan - Uncharted remaster; Feb - Assetto Corsa upgrade; Mar - GT7 😁 (I believe there's a HFW in there somewhere, although I've yet to even play much of HZD yet.)
