Iโm still enjoying this game a year on what with the addition of the Tower of Sisyphus. The gameplay is seriously fun and addictive and if you havenโt played this yet then I urge you to give it a go, even if thatโs signing up for the higher PS+ tiers to try it.
@KilloWertz It does feel like sometimes they've had the beginnings of a plan but failed to consult the relevant people before actually implementing said plan.
At the end of the day from a business point of view it makes total sense why they've stopped people from taking advantage of this loophole as it's a liability on their books. They'd be giving away a service that they are providing for a fraction of the price they believe it's worth and probably accounted for. From a reputation point of view it's a disaster and they'd have been better swallowing their pride and taking a loss for now in order to build some goodwill.
No company is perfect though and even MS has tried to screw their users over by trying to double the price of gold before going back on that decision when there was an outcry. If I actually stopped buying stuff from every company that had burned me over the years I'd actually not be able to buy anything at all ๐
It's bizarre that they didn't take people using stacking to get cheap subs into account before it started happening. To then handle it this way instead of putting these things into place when they announced it, I mean it just seems poorly planned out.
@Martsmall I guess that's why it states that they have up to 3 months after the release of the game to create the demo, so that it doesn't hold up the release of the game.
Hopefully this works like the demos we've already seen for Death Stranding, Cyberpunk 2077 etc where you effectively download the full game, try it out and if you like it you just hit the purchase option and you just carry on playing. If you don't like it then it times out and you just delete the game.
I'd rather that than have to download a specific demo version only to have my progress lost when migrating over to the full version.
I think a lot of people will be wanting to know what sort of games are going to be part of the subscription. We know that first party games aren't going to launch on the service day one but will that be the same for third party.
Also does the catalogue look very similar to the Now catalogue as it stands or are they going for a total refresh. I'm imagining more the former but with a few newer titles added in.
@nedbvv I'm generally into arcade racers but GT7 has been a revelation to me. It really makes you care about the details and does have that next gen feel on PS5 with the brilliant controller features and audio.
I've had fun pretty much doing every type of event, even the licence tests which on paper should not be fun. There's something for pretty much everyone in here and if you want to take it to the next level then you can hit the sports mode or the multiplayer lobbies to race against real people.
I've also not been grinding for credits at all or spent any money on MTs. I mean I'm not sure why you'd even need to do that unless you basically want to just play a few hours buy every car in the game and then move onto something else. I'm planning on playing this game for a long time, sometimes for hours at a time and sometimes just the odd race here and there. The entire game is really geared around you wanting to actually play the game and move your way up the ranks rather than having everything here and now. Yes the better you are the quicker you will get the goodies but even for someone like me, who is pretty mediocre, I've managed to earn a fair few credits and have a good selection of cars.
@lolwhatno All good possibilities, or perhaps even one of the live service games they've got in the works. It's always better when things are a surprise though so looking forward to finding out.
I saw several people on forums that had blitzed through this game in a matter of weeks with friends so I'd imagine it was a lot easier playing coop. Most of the other games are single player so you are on your own ๐
@Steve30000 Yeah sure that's a little annoying if you want to play and the servers are down, but I think again it's probably blown out of all proportion.
I suppose also if you were looking to trade it in or play the game in 20 years time then the online thing causes a problem but how many people does that affect? I myself look at the value in games as how much enjoyment I've gotten out of them rather than a resell value. If I paid 70 for a game and then played it for 70 hours thatโs 1 pound per hour of entertainment. A game like GT7 I'm likely to get at least double that if not even more so that's a bargain and I donโt expect any of that money back.
If they shut the servers down in a few years time then that will be a shame but I think it's more likely it will be way past the end of the gen before anything like that happens. So really all the people complaining really don't need to as the game will be around for a long time and by the time the servers get shutdown it will likely be only worth a few pounds trade in anyway.
Great to see both Horizon and GT7 doing well - especially as some people seem really keen to bash them both. I'm currently getting through the campaign and other modes in GT7 and it really is a superb racing game and I've not even noticed the MT stuff that everyone was making a big issue over ๐คทโโ๏ธ
After playing both Horizon Forbidden West and Elden Ring Iโd say HFW just edges it for me. I just enjoy that world more and find it far more interesting and rewarding than ER. Enjoying GT7 as well though so itโs been a good year so far.
I started The Pedestrian yesterday as I've been wanting to get around to checking it out for ages. It's a well thought out game and I can see it should get quite challenging.
Hades I loved, that's a great game and really deserved the praise it got. There's so many other games off this list that I really want to get around to playing. Perhaps I just need to devote some time to playing through Indies.
Emulation of the ps3 is no doubt fully possible but yeah itโs totally a money question. I wonder how many hours in total have gone into the PC ps3 emulator? Now imagine paying those people whoโve probably put in countless hours for that time and thatโs already cost quite a bit to get to this point.
It then doesnโt even work for every game so youโve got additional overhead to tweak it when you add a title and a ton of testing overhead. Then youโve somehow got to make that money back. Itโs easy to see why they donโt do it.
Iโm sure thereโs many engineers who would love to do it for a job though.
That's fine as like most people I've not been expecting that. PS Studios games are usually of a high enough quality to warrant paying for them and I've not been disappointed with any of my purchases. Also with them coming to the service later down the line then it gives people change to play them that didn't want to pay full price, and also gives the game a second wind.
I'm glad the current tier is being kept as that's what I'm likely to stick with but I've got a Now sub currently so guess I will get upgraded to that Premium tier to try it out.
Also the game trials, are they basically what they've been doing with things like Cyberpunk 2077 and Death Stranding? If so then it seems a shame not to offer them to everyone as they will likely get more sales that way.
Can't believe the old school Atari joystick was even in the running. I broke so many of those playing any game where you had to, dare I say it, waggle your joystick ๐
I'm another who really enjoyed the Guacamelee games. I was disappointed to see this was going to be an Xbox exclusive but great to hear it's finally coming to PS.
I've played the Tower of Sisyphus a few times and this really distils the action from the single player into a great arcade style game. A run takes longer than you think though and it's amazing how far you can get when you get into the action. Really fun and well worth checking out for anyone who has already played the game and another reason to get it for anyone that hasn't already.
@The_Pixel_King There's loads of advice I could list here but it's probably best to have a read back through the Returnal thread in the forums. If you go back through it all you'll see other peoples struggles and what they did to overcome them.
I felt like I would never get out of the first biome for a while but eventually with patience your skill will improve to the point where you feel like a different player.
Interesting that they are turning their back on their own engine for this. Perhaps they just couldn't see a way of easily moving it forward and that it might have even cost them time working with it during the development of Cyberpunk and that moving to Unreal will move everything on a level.
Interested to see what they can come up with though.
I guess this wasn't a snap decision but also feels different than their other acquisitions as usually those studios have been out there for a while and been churning out games of a certain standard.
Perhaps once they realised their future was secure and this game was eventually destined for game pass they dialled it back so that it was just "good enough".
Shame but I'm not sure I was really feeling this anyway.
It does sound like the delay was the right thing to do as I can imagine more people would have been upset of the data had been corrupted / lost. Shame they didn't think that they could feed that back to people though as surely the good thing about social media is that they can get that message out there fast.
@nessisonett @Voltan Oh Iโm very tempted. Iโve got a pair of Tannoy bookshelf speakers hooked up to a basic Denon amp which is fine for the size of the room I listen to music in. Iโve got so used to badly compressed digital music that I bet vinyl sounds amazing in comparison. Thanks for the recommend ๐
@nessisonett Heard good things about AudioTechnics. What model did you go for if you don't mind me asking? My music setup isn't anything fancy but would be great to add vinyl into the mix.
Having just had chance to watch it through completely I am now getting slightly nervous at seeing all those bats and drones ๐
There are however some really cool things as well such as the parasite room and the new boss. Really liking the fact that there's also some story elements to this as well which will give me a reason to push on.
I've platinumed this now but in all that time I just had a few minor issues like clipping etc. but nothing with any of the quests. Great that they are fixing the big things that might stop someone progressing though.
