Looks to be a missed opportunity. Was kinda hoping for an in your face non stop guns blazing ever increasing body count affair. What I saw was a the powers out let’s go the the basement to flip a switch in which time I could have just walked up the stairs.
I think Callisto P is an okay game. One of the better looking PS5 games. Pace may be slow but once you get going the combat is okay with the blend of melee, weapon and Jedi. The purchasable DLC cannot be forgiven though. Clear cash grab.
@PixelDragon by “in house” I assume you mean by Sony or studios owned by Sony. By Multi-platform I assume you mean all platforms except those developed and released by Nintendo. Any compelling reasons why a game developed in-house by Microsoft should release on any other platform? Sony don’t and we’ll just take a look a what they did with Final Fantasy VII. But hey at least Sony got people interests in mind when it comes to Call of Duty.
If you look at the essential tier from afar you are not actually getting anything in return for the subscription fee. PS plus games you don’t own, stop working without a subscription and a high probability you will have already bought. To allow you to play online in a game you paid for. And to access a backup of a save file that originated on the console you paid for and send to the cloud on a internet service you paid for but you have no alternate access rights. Think I will take 10 years of premium subscription fees. Buy an off the shelf pc, get epic, Gog, Amazon free games, have full control of my save files and play online for free.
Think it’s fair to say the statement by Marcus Smith is a Sony sponsored marketing one, and probably limited to a world where only the PS4 and PS5 exist.
I think if game developers lived in a world where they had average consumer speed internet they would see that a physical disc is very important to some people. When people have time to think about the impact of a digital only ecosystem game company’s are selling consumers nothing tangible, and the consumer is now paying the cost for the delivery of the final product to their house.
Is there any more Xbox related news that Push Square wants to post? Over on Pure Xbox they have made a claim the games have been announced by Atlus. Here on Push Square they have been leaked by Atlus. On Nintendo Life they have been accidentally released by Atlus. I am sure some where somebody is typing up the “New Persona Games - Everything we know so far” article.
Despite the article tagging “PS4” and “PS5” the mods are for the PC version. While interesting not sure why it’s got a mention on a site for PlayStation.
RE4 is a solid remake maintaining the gameplay feel of the original release with current day improvements. I play on quality + ray tracing and things run okay. The RE2/3/4 remakes each take a slightly different approach. RE2 follows the original in terms of the need to manage inventory, RE3 focuses more on combat and is a simpler play though. RE4 amps the combat to 9 with moments of more challenging encounters. Waiting patiently for the RE1 remake to complete the set.
@naruball Eh you mean the progress bugs that were in Dying Light 2 or Cyberpunk. Dis not see anyone complain when COD Zombies was pulled from the COD mobile editions.
Did Black Ops Cold War not have Sony Exclusive game modes that were not available on other platforms for about a year. Really this debate by Sony is the biggest pile of horse sh I have seen for a while. I suspect the core problem here is Sony will no longer be able to exert its influence on the publisher.
The US legal system is pretty broken. If bungee can get $2k per download which has no direct detrimental to Bungie. How much does each player get, who may have paid actual money to bungie to do play the game and found themselves victim to the cheating.
Pricing is a bit of a joke. Pretty sure MGS5 the complete edition can be bought for less when it’s on sale. If you could otherwise stick your PS1 disc into the PS5 and play it through an official emu app I would understand. Must be hard for those with a library of PS1 games and being asked to pay out again to play a game they already own on a Sony console.
@Blackmagehobbit On PS5 you can save progress at just about any point. You have to suspend the run via a menu option and close the game by returning to the Home Screen and closing the game from there. It is a very odd way to do things.
I suspect most of the top 10 reflect pack in games sold with systems. Good that F.E.E tops the list. ReLly have to consider the purpose of a sales chart that does not include digital purchases. You tend to pay more day 1 for a digital copy.
I like CP. if you are looking for something that won’t consume 100’s hours, have you spend most of that time managing crafting items, like the original Resident Evil you will find something to like. One of tue few games that runs okay in Quality Mode at 30fps that I can play. Cannot help feel that some of the DLC content should have been part of the main game.
A blend of the original Resident Evil on PS1 and Doom 3. While limited on variety due to the game setting the graphics are good. If you approach the combat from a traditional third person perspective (i.e GoW) you will struggle. It’s more a 5 d’s of dodgeball mechanic. The multiple death animations hint that getting killed is part of the game experience and most enemies can put the player down with minimal effort. There have been some updates to further refine the combat but you are likely to hit encounters where you will die, die and die again. The solution is usually to use some environmental element such as turbines, exploding canisters to insta kill and avoid the need to engage in melee combat.
The improvements sound good but this was originally a PS Vita release. I guess adding ray tracing was to much for current gen. With no upgrade path the PS4 version on backward compatibility is probably good enough for most.
@Denni5m oddly when I first got it on I though combat was a bit shallow and progress was slow. It does open up once you add some characters to the group and unlock special moves. Not stellar but eventually their is a satisfying rhythm to things.
It’s a bit of an own goal for Atlus not to offer an upgrade path to those who have already bought P5R. I would have thought anyone with a PS5 would have taken a look at the version available on the bonus PS Plus selection if not already bought it on sale. Would seem the majority of purchases are on switch regardless of the “significant graphical compromises”. I suppose if anything based on sales data PS5 vs Switch there is not much of a case to bring Persona 6 to the PS5.
The reality, in terms of console sales in Japan, not being that may people have a PS5 or XBX. Leaves you in an odd place when your company has shunned the runaway success.
My first attempt play was on PS4 and frame rate and resolution was such I had eye bleed. Although things where improved on PS5 got relegated to the backlog. Took the chance and bought it on the Nintendo Switch and I got pulled in. For me it the high variety of play styles and the enemy evolution throughout the game that create a unique experience.
Given the fanfare of the previous game getting a bump to 60fps on the new hardware it’s a bit disapointing. What is really sad is the PS5 has an 8k logo on the box.
The slow pace of movement of your character was a source of pain for me. The game is okay. Not at the level of Persona 5 and really more a dungeon crawler affair.
Interestingly the chart data does not include Nintendo digital sales. I wonder what titles sold at full price to get on the chart and what was otherwise on sale.
Being honest in the looks department its a bit naff. Dualsense Fugly Edition. No doubt Sony the pre bake the cease and desist orders for anyone trying to third party a coloured button.
Why have an event when really you can have a back to back marketing video streamed without the pointless presenters. I stopped at the frequent reference to indie developers making strange/weird games.
You would think with “ai” “machine learning” “neural processors” the PS stores ability to show similar titles to what you are looking at you could just click a button on one shovelware title with the text “do not show this and similar titles”.
Funny when someone makes a mod or unofficial version of a game, using assets they did not create “it great” “amazing work”. When a company makes something similar “it’s a clear rip off”. The creation in question looks a lot like the character from Altered Beast and one from Elden Ring.
@JaapV I had a PS4 before I got a ps5. My experience is pretty much the same on both. Both consoles were hardwired to my router which helps hugely for remote play. The biggest challenge come from the connection speed between the remote play device and the ps console.
In the upper centre of the device screen is a virtual touch pad area you press. Was why i was disappointed they bit not map it to a physical button. It’s not the most ergonomic solution. Have played Elden ring vs the volcano manor boss using it. No issues regarding the backbone controller.
Mine has arrived and it’s okay. You don’t need the mentioned app just the ps remote play app. The only omission is the lack of a physical button that maps to the physical press of the ps joypad touch pad. It’s actually a disappointment given the number of games that use this. The backbone it self is okay. Ps remote play performance is dependant on your network connection speed. When playing local you really need your ps connected to your network with a lab cable with the only wireless bit from the Wi-Fi box to the phone. Looks good on the oled of an iPhone XS.
It sad to read the corporate slant on gaming. Investor “So we are not interesting in creating truly unique and memorable experiences” Executive “No we just look over the fence and see what gamers are throwing money at and try to make something similar to try and get a slice of the action”.
@Martsmall. All while the gaming backlog grows. My memories of the PS exclusive content with Cold War was 12 months of bug fixes, tweaks and balancing, multiple large downloads, broken updates and when things had finally matured it was made available on all platforms. If the are worried about revenue they maybe want to rethink what PlayStation means and stop waffling it meaningless corporate jargon. “Player Engagement” = not giving us money. Does not resonate as we love games as much as you:
Why do Sony care. It’s not like “Only on PlayStation” means a game will only be available on Playstation. Microsoft Windows powers most PC’s that run the PC versions of Sony games. Maybe don’t charge people extra to play the PS5 version of a game they bought on PS4. Maybe have a simplified PS Plus pricing structure. Standard and Deluxe. Maybe have a simplified store which does not require fixes to allow people to redeem games being provided to service subscribers. Maybe not charge stupid amounts for games. All would aid with engagement. It not like Sony have had games kept of other systems as “exclusives” themselves. If Microsoft want to exclude 50% of a market from buying a product, good for them. In time it will just fade to obscurity.
