Re: If It Wasn't Obvious, The Elder Scrolls 6 Will Skip PlayStation

@PixelDragon by “in house” I assume you mean by Sony or studios owned by Sony. By Multi-platform I assume you mean all platforms except those developed and released by Nintendo. Any compelling reasons why a game developed in-house by Microsoft should release on any other platform? Sony don’t and we’ll just take a look a what they did with Final Fantasy VII. But hey at least Sony got people interests in mind when it comes to Call of Duty.

Re: PS Plus Price Hike Drives Sony Share Prices Up Dramatically

If you look at the essential tier from afar you are not actually getting anything in return for the subscription fee. PS plus games you don’t own, stop working without a subscription and a high probability you will have already bought. To allow you to play online in a game you paid for. And to access a backup of a save file that originated on the console you paid for and send to the cloud on a internet service you paid for but you have no alternate access rights. Think I will take 10 years of premium subscription fees. Buy an off the shelf pc, get epic, Gog, Amazon free games, have full control of my save files and play online for free.

Re: Alan Wake 2's Digital-Only Release Allows for a More Polished Game, Says Remedy

I think if game developers lived in a world where they had average consumer speed internet they would see that a physical disc is very important to some people. When people have time to think about the impact of a digital only ecosystem game company’s are selling consumers nothing tangible, and the consumer is now paying the cost for the delivery of the final product to their house.

Is there any more Xbox related news that Push Square wants to post? Over on Pure Xbox they have made a claim the games have been announced by Atlus. Here on Push Square they have been leaked by Atlus. On Nintendo Life they have been accidentally released by Atlus. I am sure some where somebody is typing up the “New Persona Games - Everything we know so far” article.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Resident Evil 4 Remake?

solidox

RE4 is a solid remake maintaining the gameplay feel of the original release with current day improvements. I play on quality + ray tracing and things run okay. The RE2/3/4 remakes each take a slightly different approach. RE2 follows the original in terms of the need to manage inventory, RE3 focuses more on combat and is a simpler play though. RE4 amps the combat to 9 with moments of more challenging encounters. Waiting patiently for the RE1 remake to complete the set.

Re: New PS1 Classics Can Be Bought Off the PS Store

Pricing is a bit of a joke. Pretty sure MGS5 the complete edition can be bought for less when it’s on sale. If you could otherwise stick your PS1 disc into the PS5 and play it through an official emu app I would understand. Must be hard for those with a library of PS1 games and being asked to pay out again to play a game they already own on a Sony console.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give The Callisto Protocol?

A blend of the original Resident Evil on PS1 and Doom 3. While limited on variety due to the game setting the graphics are good. If you approach the combat from a traditional third person perspective (i.e GoW) you will struggle. It’s more a 5 d’s of dodgeball mechanic. The multiple death animations hint that getting killed is part of the game experience and most enemies can put the player down with minimal effort. There have been some updates to further refine the combat but you are likely to hit encounters where you will die, die and die again. The solution is usually to use some environmental element such as turbines, exploding canisters to insta kill and avoid the need to engage in melee combat.

Re: See How Persona 5 Royal on PS5 Compares in Latest Digital Foundry Tech Test

It’s a bit of an own goal for Atlus not to offer an upgrade path to those who have already bought P5R. I would have thought anyone with a PS5 would have taken a look at the version available on the bonus PS Plus selection if not already bought it on sale. Would seem the majority of purchases are on switch regardless of the “significant graphical compromises”. I suppose if anything based on sales data PS5 vs Switch there is not much of a case to bring Persona 6 to the PS5.

Re: PS5, PS4 Finally Go Portable with Officially Licensed PlayStation Backbone One

solidox

Mine has arrived and it’s okay. You don’t need the mentioned app just the ps remote play app. The only omission is the lack of a physical button that maps to the physical press of the ps joypad touch pad. It’s actually a disappointment given the number of games that use this. The backbone it self is okay. Ps remote play performance is dependant on your network connection speed. When playing local you really need your ps connected to your network with a lab cable with the only wireless bit from the Wi-Fi box to the phone. Looks good on the oled of an iPhone XS.

Re: Sony Sounds Shook by Xbox's Activision Buyout, Says Call of Duty Has No Rival

@Martsmall. All while the gaming backlog grows. My memories of the PS exclusive content with Cold War was 12 months of bug fixes, tweaks and balancing, multiple large downloads, broken updates and when things had finally matured it was made available on all platforms. If the are worried about revenue they maybe want to rethink what PlayStation means and stop waffling it meaningless corporate jargon. “Player Engagement” = not giving us money. Does not resonate as we love games as much as you:

Re: Sony Sounds Shook by Xbox's Activision Buyout, Says Call of Duty Has No Rival

Why do Sony care. It’s not like “Only on PlayStation” means a game will only be available on Playstation. Microsoft Windows powers most PC’s that run the PC versions of Sony games. Maybe don’t charge people extra to play the PS5 version of a game they bought on PS4. Maybe have a simplified PS Plus pricing structure. Standard and Deluxe. Maybe have a simplified store which does not require fixes to allow people to redeem games being provided to service subscribers. Maybe not charge stupid amounts for games. All would aid with engagement. It not like Sony have had games kept of other systems as “exclusives” themselves. If Microsoft want to exclude 50% of a market from buying a product, good for them. In time it will just fade to obscurity.
