It can though. I played it and found it played and looked fine, except for a bit of blurriness on performance mode. Just because a new console can do it better doesn't mean the old one "can't".
I definitely wouldn't either. Luckily, there's a cartload of good games, some of which are in my backlog, that are getting upgrades and I look forward to playing them.
There's also the fact that most games moving forward will have a PS5 Pro mode that makes the experience better (even if sometimes it's only marginally better).
You can bet your butt that MH: Wilds will look significantly better with a PS5 Pro, and I cannot wait to see what they do with Ghost of Yotei.
This mentality is so exhausting. Compromises are made when developers optimize so that they can get both performance and visuals as good as they can be, running in real time. However, most games are developed with the highest resolutions and the most bells and whistles before they have to be optimized.
At that point hardware matters. They never said that what the PS5 was able to do was bad, they just weren't able to provide the graphics they wanted at a steady 60. Now they can. Very simple.
While I'm not exactly the sharpest bulb or the brightest tack, I really am not getting the hate for the writing. It seems perfectly serviceable. Words like "horrendous" get thrown about and I am just not seeing it.
I played a few hours last night and I can at least tell you I'm having a blast. The progression is more fun than I would have expected.
However, it all depends what you want out of Dragon Age. If you're here for the lore and some fun gameplay, great. If you want a CRPG... this is not it.
Is there some extra glut of shooter enjoyers that DON'T already have a live service game they are playing? These aren't like single player games, where people might be looking for a new fix after finishing a game. These are intended to be playable in perpetuity.
How many people need 3 different hero shooters? How many people want to play multiple different extraction games? Battle Royale games?
Find a niche that isn't being served in live service, and serve it. Give me a procedural dungeon crawler (like Deep Down was supposed to be). Give me live service space combat (see: Star Wars Squadrons). What about a live service 4x game? Hell, someone please make a live service casino game so I can play texas hold 'em with a cute avatar.
The problem is these companies just want to replicate what has been done when no one needs an alternative to what they're already playing. Why would I leave an account I have thousands of hours in with the associated rewards and other investments (skins or whatever) for a fresh account on a new game doing the same thing?
I keep seeing people crapping on DD2 in this article. I had very few issues with it. Are people exaggerating, or maybe it's because I'm old and don't expect what they do? I have no idea, but it makes me think I am way out of sync with the gaming community at large.
I will never understand the vitriol from people that have decided not to buy something. If it's not for you, cool. Save that money.
I will never not buy an upgraded console. I spend most of my leisure time gaming and I want the best experience I can have. I never regretted my PS4 Pro purchase and I am sure I won't regret the PS5 Pro. While improvements to past games are nice and give me a reason to go back to old games, or finish some in my backlog, it's what's coming in the future that I care about.
Been playing every day since launch and I adore this game. Someone above said there's too much content - as someone that's done it all I can say there is not. With these new additions, I will have a reason to actually play every day (for a while anyway) rather than just logging on just for dailies and weekly resets, and I'm grateful for it.
Are you trying to say Inquisition was a bad game? Never heard their devs hated it, but from what I understand it did pretty well, and I certainly loved it.
Seems odd to lump it in with Anthem. Almost disingenuous.
@Number09 Make your own decisions with your own wallet. This attempt to belittle something you don't want to win an internet argument is really, really sad.
Also, for some of the others in the comments, if you can't see the differences in this comparison video, you are deliberately trying to extend a meme. Stop being so obtuse.
@Major_Player Three years is a long time, to me. I am happy to enjoy the best fidelity and frame rate possible for those three years, then upgrade again.
I am old though and expect to die at any moment, so that's just me hedging my bets.
Enjoyed it for a couple hours then found the basic sneaking and stealing loop to be unsatisfying. I'll go back when there's more content and see if it still drives me nuts.
@idiotthechef I feel entirely the opposite. If I'm spending my money on something I want it to provide as much entertainment as it can for that money. Open ended gameplay that's fun and relaxing or cathartic is exactly where I want to spend my time, rather than finishing a $70 game in 10 hours and looking for the next fix.
I'm 46. I sold my Super Nintendo to get a Playstation when they first released. I've ben a Sony fanboy ever since and I have had so many fantastic experiences.
This game reminds me of so much of it. It is also simply a sharp, clean, bright game full of absolute joy. There are so many tiny, beautiful details!
I like my big stompy shooters and serious RPGs. Those games make me feel powerful and important, but this game makes me feel happy.
I'm head over heels with this game. Been playing since day one and I love every bit of it. 1.2 looks amazing. It appears they made a roguelite in my gacha.
Also, wish Burnice was first. I need her for my anomaly team.

Not sure I need so many, even as an adopter of the new console, but I guess it is the biggest Playstation news at the moment so... what do you expect?

Re: What Is PSSR for PS5 Pro?
@Darude84
This is probably very true. Going from UHD to a large Oled changed my experience drastically.
But then you'll want a pro to take advantage of that.

You're right, that's the only game. If you have bought or are thinking of buying any other game, no you're not.

Re: Watch Unreal 5's Seriously Impressive MegaLights Tech Demo, Running on a PS5
@Steel76 Although I won't say you're wrong, this is running on a PS5, which is a much better demo than a PC demo since the hardware is so restrictive.
