Re: PS5 Pro Makes Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Look Like a Whole New Game

@danzoEX

I definitely wouldn't either. Luckily, there's a cartload of good games, some of which are in my backlog, that are getting upgrades and I look forward to playing them.

There's also the fact that most games moving forward will have a PS5 Pro mode that makes the experience better (even if sometimes it's only marginally better).

You can bet your butt that MH: Wilds will look significantly better with a PS5 Pro, and I cannot wait to see what they do with Ghost of Yotei.

@Darude84

This is probably very true. Going from UHD to a large Oled changed my experience drastically.

But then you'll want a pro to take advantage of that.

Re: Insomniac Developers Psyched for PS5 Pro, Enhanced Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is 'Phenomenal'

@GreatAuk

This mentality is so exhausting. Compromises are made when developers optimize so that they can get both performance and visuals as good as they can be, running in real time. However, most games are developed with the highest resolutions and the most bells and whistles before they have to be optimized.

At that point hardware matters. They never said that what the PS5 was able to do was bad, they just weren't able to provide the graphics they wanted at a steady 60. Now they can. Very simple.

Re: After a Tough Few Months, Sony Says It'll Keep Making PS5 Live Service Games

Is there some extra glut of shooter enjoyers that DON'T already have a live service game they are playing? These aren't like single player games, where people might be looking for a new fix after finishing a game. These are intended to be playable in perpetuity.

How many people need 3 different hero shooters? How many people want to play multiple different extraction games? Battle Royale games?

Find a niche that isn't being served in live service, and serve it. Give me a procedural dungeon crawler (like Deep Down was supposed to be). Give me live service space combat (see: Star Wars Squadrons). What about a live service 4x game? Hell, someone please make a live service casino game so I can play texas hold 'em with a cute avatar.

The problem is these companies just want to replicate what has been done when no one needs an alternative to what they're already playing. Why would I leave an account I have thousands of hours in with the associated rewards and other investments (skins or whatever) for a fresh account on a new game doing the same thing?

I will never understand the vitriol from people that have decided not to buy something. If it's not for you, cool. Save that money.

I will never not buy an upgraded console. I spend most of my leisure time gaming and I want the best experience I can have. I never regretted my PS4 Pro purchase and I am sure I won't regret the PS5 Pro. While improvements to past games are nice and give me a reason to go back to old games, or finish some in my backlog, it's what's coming in the future that I care about.

Re: Poll: Did You Pre-Order a PS5 Pro?

@Major_Player
Three years is a long time, to me. I am happy to enjoy the best fidelity and frame rate possible for those three years, then upgrade again.

I am old though and expect to die at any moment, so that's just me hedging my bets.

Re: Fresh Marathon Details Cover Heroes, Pricing, and Bungie's Silence

symmetrian

@idiotthechef I feel entirely the opposite. If I'm spending my money on something I want it to provide as much entertainment as it can for that money. Open ended gameplay that's fun and relaxing or cathartic is exactly where I want to spend my time, rather than finishing a $70 game in 10 hours and looking for the next fix.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Astro Bot?

I'm 46. I sold my Super Nintendo to get a Playstation when they first released. I've ben a Sony fanboy ever since and I have had so many fantastic experiences.

This game reminds me of so much of it. It is also simply a sharp, clean, bright game full of absolute joy. There are so many tiny, beautiful details!

I like my big stompy shooters and serious RPGs. Those games make me feel powerful and important, but this game makes me feel happy.
