Re: Star Wars Outlaws' Rescue Roadmap Provides a Snapshot of Modern PS5 Gaming

torquex

@LavenderShroud I feel like this gen is more about making everything look “pretty” graphics wise

It's actually always been this way, think about it? if they stuck with old rendering tech why would anyone upgrade to a new system? I just picked up Days Gone second hand for £15 and performance is solid but it's starting to look dated compared to new games imho, it's not bad but it could do with a lick of paint I thought.

@puddinggirl Games like Astro Bot, Stellar Blade, Black Myth Wukong, Baldur's Gate 3, FF16, FF7 Rebirth and a bunch of other games are absolutely worth the price at launch.

These games you mention are for specific tastes, I would normally never purchase any of them because i'm not really interested but i did gamble on bm wukong and i lost and if i had known i would of got sw outlaws instead.

Re: In the UK, PS5 Pro Has Already Completely Sold Out

@RubyCarbuncle Look on ebay

Could be placeholders? if they are for real then anyone who buys at those insane prices are mad imho. But i guess some really have more money than sense but thinking about it if you're that rich you don't really have any sense of value because there is no way they are worth those mental prices, haha.

@Nakatomi_Uk Tencent buy more shares

A report from Games Industry.biz published Sept. 6, 2022 said with regards to Tencent and the Guillemot Brothers Limited

Tencent is investing €300 million ($297 million) into GBL for a 49.9% stake in the company, which owned almost 13% of Ubisoft shares before this deal.

The deal only gives Tencent 5% of voting rights in GBL, but no seat on the board of directors or consent or veto rights in the operation of the business.

Ubisoft's board of directors has given Tencent permission to increase its directly owned stake in Ubisoft from 4.5% to just under 10%. Tencent will not be able to sell its shares for five years, nor will it be able to increase its stake beyond that 10% threshold for eight years.

@LikelySatan I didn't play Valhalla, I just heard it was super long and boring.

You're not missing much if i'm honest but I got it for a tad over £13 in a ps store sale. The ability Dive of the valkyries is such fun though, it has some humour thrown in here and there, the religious monks are bonkers and i wasn't keen on that aspect, i just really enjoy riding around on horseback looking for a scrap. The saving grace is skipping some of the dialogue. For such a cheap price Norway and England are great the rest is not for me.

Re: How to Pre-Order PS5's 30th Anniversary Collection

torquex

@NEStalgia just need an address

So say if you wanted 5 anniversary bundles you would need to wait at five different addresses for delivery? even in a group how would that work with delivery address and then there is payment and who profits what?

Re: Ubisoft Board Orders Internal Investigation and Review into Company's Financial Woes

@Vivisapprentice Assassins Creed Odyssey

I never tried that one but valhalla's Norway and England is great and i would of been ok with just those 2 places but the asgard and the other places were not so great imho. They got some very talented devs but man 19,000 staff? Ghost of Yotei is another tsushima 6/10 same as AC's 6/10, great open worlds though. Each to their own and gamers have different tastes not all like the same thing i suppose. I've never played a game that i could honestly say is a 10/10. I wouldn't even play astro bot if it was gifted to me although i would take a physical copy and trade it in, first thing i uninstalled was that astro rubbish, i hate games like that.

Re: Ubisoft Backs Out of Tokyo Game Show at Eleventh Hour, Cancels Livestream

@PloverNutter Oh I was not aware of that so I apologise if I offended a Japanese person here or anywhere. Here in the UK we sometimes get called "Brits" (british) but I don't get offended to be honest. Im looking forward to playing Assassins Creed Shadows, I just like to play games, i'm looking forward to playing both protagonist in AC Shadows. I'm interested to know why Ubisoft did what they did. Many just like to hate on Ubisoft but i'll keep on supporting them and just try to ignore the haters.

Re: PS5 Pro Flexes Its Muscle in Montage Trailer

torquex

@Medic_alert Let's assume you are using your tv to make it a fair comparison. Firstly your budget needs to be £725.

The pro will have a horizontal stand included plus it can be mounted in vertical position without a stand. I don't think I could build a gaming PC to match or beat it for £700, no way i'm sure.

@Jswift56

Some people feel there hasn't been a true first party ps5 game yet

I'm sure Sony said a while ago that there will be no Sony studio games till early/mid 2025?

I'm interested to see how Assassins Creed Shadows plays on the pro, i think the release date for this game is mid november (15/09/2024?) not sure what the release date is for the pro, i wonder if there will be a bundle deal? can't think of any other game coming out in november?

@thefourfoldroot1

This product is for a niche of a niche

Each to their own I guess but I don't buy that, it's like when some claim "enthusiast" product , it's a load of spiel or glib you know "the glib phrases soon roll off the tongue" like the dictionary tells us.

We're all "enthusiastic gamers"

Money doesn't make you more "enthusiastic" it just means you can afford to purchase said "expensive" product.

Re: Vince Zampella Confirms Battlefield Will Return to Modern Setting

torquex

I paid £10 for BF 2042 PS5 disc version second hand and £6.99 ps essentials for 1 month, poor performance on most maps on my ps5 and i lost interest, it got stale very quickly for me. Battlefield 2 on PC all those years ago was excellent I thought.I prefer the Call of Duty games with the smaller maps for the great gun play and performance on Playstation 5.

Re: Poll: Would You Buy PS5 Pro If It Was Cheaper?

torquex

@Cakefish I get the appeal with lounge gaming but if it was me and i could afford it i'd invest with pc simply because it's the definitive platform, but then again I really like high quality textures ray tracing/ray reconstruction just higher quality pixels and the overall lighting or ray traced global illumination, consoles can't really compete on the same level but i'm interested to know more about Sony's PS5 Pro advanced ray tracing techniques, not sure if they have some sort of AI-powered neural renderer? looking forward to the teardowns and analysis of the pro model.
