I honestly don't understand the disappointment over the lack of a new trophy set. I was so annoyed when it was revealed that the PS5 version of Witcher 3 had a separate trophy list because I had already platinumed the PS4 version and just needed to play the expansions to get 100%. Now, if I play the expansions on PS5, I'll never complete the list. I feel the same about when console and Vita versions of the same game don't share a trophy list.
With games I like, I enjoy the challenge of obtaining all of their trophies, but this idea of wanting doubles of trophies and collecting as many as possible as if they have value, I'll simply never understand.
I waited 3 years for a redesign or Pro model, but I just bought the original GoW Ragnarok bundle for $460 from Verizon. I'm also getting 7.5% cashback. If a better deal comes along on the "Slim", I'll get it and return the OG model, but I'm not going to pay more for the additional 175GB of SSD storage. The smaller size doesn't really matter to me since I'm standing it vertically on an open surface. Also, no need to buy the overpriced vertical stand.
@Rioichi Why not? I haven't heard of any controversy surrounding him. I didn't find anything through a Google search either. Thanks in advance if you could share.
@CrispyMango92 I don't have a PS5 yet, but I nearly always fully power off my consoles. This way if there's a power outage they are safe. They also draw less power. Besides, PS systems start up quickly—at least my PS4 Pro and PS3 do. Can't say the same about Xbox systems; my XB One takes a while to start up after a full shut down.
The only time I use rest mode is when I know I'm going to use the console again in a few hours, which is rare.
I had the PS2 version of this game pre-ordered at GameStop back in 2003. Was so disappointed when it was cancelled. I had always hoped it would eventually find its way on to the web. Can't believe I can finally play it 20 years later.
I wish the USB adapter could also be used to wirelessly connect the Dualsense to PC, retaining all supported features. Currently, PC games with official Dualsense support only work via a wired connection. Adaptive triggers and enhanced haptic feedback don't work with a Bluetooth connection.
@ReadySlayerOne I wasn't implying they should make online multiplayer free. I meant they should allow save data backup to USB storage like on PS4. Or make cloud backup free to all users like Xbox and Steam does.
@QuoVadis You can backup PS4 game saves individually the same way it works on PS4, but for PS5 games, you can only do a full backup of all saves, and if you want to restore them you need to restore the whole console, which wipes the whole system, like a factory reset. It's a slow process that involves multiple reboots; it's incredibly inconvenient. Really only to be used to secure your save data in the event of a console failure.
I rarely was a subscriber to Plus since it first launched and now I probably will never subscribe again. I don't play online and like to buy my games, so it just isn't worth it for me. The only feature I want is PS5 game save cloud backup. On PS4 I can backup to a USB drive, but on PS5 they block that feature. It's really unacceptable to hold people's saves hostage like that.
@thetraditional 2 and 3 do run at 60fps on PS4 in this master collection, and these ports are based on Bluepoint's 2011 remaster, so they're not any worse than those. Not sure what lead you to believe otherwise.
I'm probably one of the few on here that still doesn't have a PS5. I'm planning on buying one this season and I'm just going to go for the best deal, whether it's the slim or the OG model. Probably the OG since I don't want to pay more to stand it vertically. I was hoping a Pro model would release by now, but since that's likely not happening for another year, I'm not going to wait until then. I'm already behind enough as it is. I'll just sell my console and upgrade to the Pro later on, same as I did with my PS4.
I've been waiting for a new model to finally get a PS5 and now I'm probably going to purchase the original. I need to stand mine vertically, but I'm not about to pay more for that basic feature. It really all depends on the black Friday deals. If there's a good enough deal on the slim I'll get it, otherwise I'll get the OG and put the savings from not needing to buy the stand into an M.2 SSD for extended storage.
In terms of looks, I think the digital edition looks just as good, but the disc version is uglier with that really pronounced bulge. Though, that's the one I'd be getting.
And for this reason I will try to purchase the original model. Need to stand it vertically. I'd rather put the $30 I save on the stand into an M.2 expansion drive. Disappointed with this new design after waiting 3 years.
@Fuzzymonkeyfunk No, I rarely subscribe to PS+. I got the Ultimate Edition for free on PC from a family member's Prime Gaming monthly games. I still might pick it up on PS5 if there's a good enough sale.
@Fuzzymonkeyfunk I did watch them; they weren't bad, but I would've preferred more gameplay. You can skip them. Also, when I played it there was a Windows bug that caused the videos to play at a higher speed, so I had to watch them on YouTube and the video quality was poor. I haven't played Control yet, but it seems like they learned a lot from QB and improved in many ways. Looking forward to playing it soon.
I hope this doesn't mean they padded it out with collectible text diaries like they did in Quantum Break. Played that on PC recently and while I enjoyed it overall, there were way too many text notes to read, and they were long as well. Obviously they're optional, but so much of the story was fleshed out through them that you're missing out if you skip them. Every few steps and you're reading for 3 minutes.
All that success and Activision still won't greenlight a 60fps patch for a single game of theirs. Not even for CTR Nitro-fueled, which would benefit from that greatly being a racing game. Not to mention it's the only true Mario Kart rival.
I have no problem with the game being a straight port, but at the bare minimum it needs to have increased resolution and frame rate on PS5, and since only one of those boxes are checked, it's a deal breaker for me, especially at that price. I'm still bewildered with how Take-2 was willing to fund development of this port, but stopped short of 60fps and a PC version. It doesn't add up. I suspect they wanted to keep frame rate parity across all consoles and a PC port will be released a bit later on.
No increased frame rate or resolution? Even when played on PS5? Seriously? And how could they not be bringing it to PC as well?
Edit:
I just noticed that the PS Store listing has the "PS4 Pro enhanced" label, which makes sense since I believe that is mandated by Sony, so there may be some improvement over the PS3 version after all (at least when played on PS4 Pro or PS5).
If I were Microsoft, as soon as Sony's CoD marketing deal with Activision ends, I would go all out promoting Xbox and Game Pass as the new home of CoD in an attempt to lure PS players over to Xbox with the goal to get most players to switch platforms by the launch of next-gen. Then as soon as this has been achieved and the 10 year commitment has ended, I would pull CoD from PlayStation. As for the other IP, such as Crash, Diablo, Overwatch, Tony Hawk, etc., those titles would be Xbox exclusive from the start, just like we've already seen with Bethesda titles and Hellblade from Ninja Theory. I mean, this has to be their strategy, right?
@Somebody I'm fairly sure Jim was referring to dev kits of next-gen consoles before launch. So when PS6 launches, it likely won't get a native version that year, and will run the PS5 version in a backwards compatible mode. However, once the consoles are on the market, they would likely allow them to obtain dev kits. After all, Bethesda teams currently have PS5 dev kits and likewise Bungie and PlayStation's San Diego Studio have Xbox dev kits. The question Sony needs to ask is is it worth having inferior versions of Activision's games for that period of time. It's a tough decision to make.
@MaccaMUFC Sony doesn't need to sign anything. Read the judge's statement: "Microsoft has committed in writing, in public, and in court to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for 10 years on parity with Xbox".
Isn't this just Microsoft speculating based off the same rumors we've all heard about for months? How does this lend credence to those rumors? This news doesn't seem to actually reveal anything.
@Korgon Thank you! Yes, I was very surprised that PlayStation made the decision to make classics available to those who originally purchased them on older systems. I just wish there was a way to convert my UMD library to digital, but that's probably asking for too much.

On the PS3 Store there's a bundle that includes syphon filter Logan's shadow and Killzone Liberation for $15. I want to know if I can save $5 by buying that.
I enjoyed this one way back on PSP. Still have my UMD copy. Will need to buy it again along with the syphon filter games. The PS Store on PS3/Vita has a bundle with Killzone Liberation and SF: Logan's Shadow for $15. I wonder if we can buy that and unlock the PS5 versions at a discount.
They need to support streaming to other devices for this to have any chance of success. Project Q, iOS/Android and PC at the very least. I personally don't have much of an interest in streaming, but I have tested Stadia and Xbox XCloud and they both worked really well on a strong Internet connection. Sony already invested heavily in cloud tech from early on, it would be a waste to cede this market to Xbox.
Since the quick swap is likely made possible largely due to the PS5's fast SSD, I wonder how the eventual PC version will handle this considering the need to support slower storage. Perhaps what may be a brief fade to black on PS5 will be replaced by a loading screen on PC, similar to GTA 5. I just want to know that Sony isn't hampering their studios' games to ensure compatibility with PC, which is my only concern regarding their PC initiative.
@smoreon Yes, I have all the POP games on PC, but I never got around to playing them there; I'm sure they run great. The only thing about 2008 is it never received the epilogue dlc on PC, but I can always play that on PS3 if I really want to.
@Tharsman Agreed about concerns over the gliding. The distance Miles covered with one glide seemed way too long. I'm sure it's a fun mechanic, but it's just not Spider-Man; it may detract from the simulation. Reminds me of Prototype. I already had a Razer Kishi that I got for just $30, but the remote play app doesn't support it. Fortunately, the excellent PSPlay app solved that problem. It works better than PlayStation's official app. I can live without the PS branding. Now, if only I actually had a use for remote play...
I would love to see the talented NetherRealm team make a non-fighter game. I do love MK and have been playing since MK2 on Genesis/Mega Drive, but they have done a few good action/adventure games in the past. Sub-Zero was a fun side-scroller. During the PS2 era they released Shaolin Monks which incorporated the fast MK combat in a co-op, level-based, 3rd-person/beat 'em up type. Deception had a great RPG mode called conquest which explored MK's lore through an original character/story. And the follow-up, Armageddon, had a full 3rd-person story mode. I think more teams should switch between different IPs or genres for their projects.
@Rafie I'll take your word for it, but I tried claiming them from PC, PS App and PS4 back when the collection first launched and it didn't allow it then either. I've also read through dozens of posts on the subject and haven't seen any other reports of successful claims from PC. I guess you got really lucky.
@Rafie I think you are mistaken. I just tried it again on PC and there is no option to claim the games, only purchase or upgrade to PS Plus Extra. I've searched Google and reddit and all sources affirm that they can only be claimed from a PS5 console. Are you sure you're referring to the PS Plus Collection"? To be clear, this is not the PS Plus monthly games. This is a set of 19 games that Sony made available to PS5 owners who are subscribed to PS Plus Essential or higher. Please check PS Store for one of the included games that you know you never purchased digitally to see if it's in your library. Link to the list is in the above article. A few examples are Days Gone, Batman Arkham Knight, Detroit Become Human, Monster Hunter World.
@rockodoodle That doesn't work with the "PS Plus Collection", unfortunately. I've tried. Sony made it so that you have to claim these games from a PS5 console.
@DCinga Good to hear. I played it on PS4 Pro (30fps) and thought it was excellent; a worthy successor to SoTC. Really underrated and under appreciated imo.
This is surprising news. It seemed as though Sony was not updating PS5's back compat functionally and was instead relying on developers to patch their games. Now if they would only patch an unlocked frame rate option for the 4k mode of this game and do the same for The Last Guardian (actually it would be more like an unpatch since the game originally had an unlocked frame rate, but it was removed in a patch. It can still be played on the disc version, but it is really inconvenient because you have to disconnect your PS5 from the network every time you want to play to prevent the patch from automatically installing. Also, we lose the bug fixes and other improvements).
I still play Sonic Racing Transformed to this day; it plays like a dream on PC.
It should be noted that Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled is arguably the best cart racer available, which is why it's such a shame that Activision won't greenlight a 60fps patch for current gen (not to mention the same neglect for the Spyro and N. Sane Trilogies). This is one area where publishers should take a cue from Ubisoft.

Re: Reminder: Claim 19 Great PS4 Games Before They Leave PS Plus Next Week
Wish I could claim some of those games, but I don't have a PS5 yet. I plan on getting the rumored revised model this upcoming holiday season.
Re: 2K's PS5, PS4 LEGO Racing Game Looks Like a Successor to Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
Re: Horizon, The Wire's Lance Reddick Has Passed Away
Sad news. He was also in Quantum Break.
