This looked like a really neat and enticing game, so I got it on Steam but refunded after about an hour. I wish I knew the contents of the boxes in totality before having to decorate piece by piece without knowing the whole puzzle, as it were.
This game is incredibly badly balanced for the first 5-10 hours. You're a golden god that kills everything in one hit, bosses maybe 5-20 seconds. It needs rebalancing, and the story is snooze worthy, but boy could it look graphically impressive on PS5.
I'm a victim. Problem is, the $30 price tag was already so egregious to me I hadn't upgraded. I see people talk about how $10 for Uncharted or Death Stranding is unnecessary penny-pinching, but if feel that $30 price for GOT is actually a problem. I think it's calculated as $20 for Iki island and $10 for PS5 version, but why not just make it $20 to be competitive? So now I'm in the position where I have to wonder, is it worth spending time getting the license refunded so I can not buy the upgrade for $30, hoping it will somehow get discounted in the future, or do I hold on to the PS5 version of the multiplayer, and miss out on a cheaper upgrade? Lame!
Maybe this Algos guy will pose a real challenge? I never died to a single boss in Returnal, and have defeated each multiple times. Definitely looking forward to this update!
Location specific voiceover is always cool to have. Definitely makes me more interested in picking up the game, the devs showing this sort of effort after release.
They'll probably charge for the game, and the way they'll justify it (without saying outright) is that they're giving away the Online, most popular aspect free on PS Plus.
@render Glad I'm not alone! The issue is also that this problem applies to a lot of the machines that don't even have oppressive melee attacks simply because if you tear off their ranged attack components they will begin to chain melee lunges. Thudnerjaw with enough health can be stripped down into a forever charging menace that just stomps you to death.. I think the solution is already in the game to some extent with shocking of freezing elements but the game never really explains to you how that is a good strategy. In fact, I could ramble about how the weapon onboarding and effectiveness is really inconsistent.
Firstly, it definitely needs to include another large boss machine. Zero Dawn had the Thunderjaws, Frozen Wilds introduced the big bears, Forbidden West brought the elephant and giant snake... maybe we could get a massive Elk? Secondly, a complaint I have about both games is how when machines get up in your face, even if you roll away, some can seem to forever close the distance and stop you from aiming any counter-attacks at all. To solve that it would be cool to include a way to block machine melee lunges that would either stun them shortly, or let you jump over and behind them, maybe propel yourself further back quickly? Just a way to let you create distance in a quick, fun way is certainly needed. The game also doesn't include the Tearblaster from the original, which is a huge question mark for me, bring it back!
It would be the worst PS+ game in history to include the mainline title as GTA Online, an experience mostly unchanged since I first experienced it on Xbox 360 almost 10 years ago.. not to mention the fact that every gamer alive would've had the experience by now, surely!
Ya'll should run a poll on who is playing resolution mode or performance mode. Every opportunity I've been a performance mode player, but the 4k in this game is so gorgeous I'm going it in resolution mode!
I don't know what it is about this game, but two years later it still has this really distracting film-grain esque sheen over most of the things around you, especially when they're at a distance. The game is still carried by art direction and writing.. technology and graphics taking a back-seat.
If this is true, does it mean CDPR is trying to sweep it under the rug a little bit? Certainly would seem like they're either not very confident in the project, or don't want to draw much attention to themselves by announcing and releasing on the same day (let alone releasing so close to Horizon and Elden Ring).
This is one of the best games I've played in the past few years, but I'm concerned it won't be fun with a controller. It requires so much precision and speed that this is akin to putting something like CSGO on console in my eyes.
This is the worst timeline. It still hasn't really hit me that they ***** up Battlefield 2042 so much... feel like I'm still shellshocked one of my favorite franchises ever is just so ruined.
PlayStation Home was actually really fun to me back in the day. I didn't make friends or anything, but it felt like a mix between an amusement park and a mall just devoted to PlayStation games, brands. It felt really interactive and way ahead of its time, and I would really enjoy a similar game again.
I hope I'm wrong, but this is probably an absolute gem that most people will never hear of because it's coming out in this legendarily packed February.
If this happens there may be potential for a class action lawsuit from at least the redditors who felt they didn't get their money's worth, if not more customers. I would be furious if I had pre-ordered this game and it went free to play shortly afterward before it had even been fixed up completely.
Will Microsoft leave the studios to function mostly independently as per Bethesda acquisition, or will they take charge and make sure the IPs outside COD are actually being remembered, developed, and executed well?
Would be nice for COD releases to be every two years and for teams like Vicarious Visions to be free from helping with COD development, maybe remastering more THPS games.
Rather poor color designs compared to the PS4 controller colors that were available this soon after release, at least the ones I bought in Japan. Also, really wish it were possible to order custom controllers like Xbox. Would be nice to get some official Death Stranding controllers (or other IP) at least.
I've already had problems with two of my controllers and had to send one back for repair, so I anticipate this year a lot of people may need replacements. Would like some cooler stock lined up if that happens.
They announced Dying Light 1 would get a 60fps PS5 patch back in October, and I'm still waiting for it so I can beat the first game before this sequel release. What on earth is taking so long? Surely it would've been good to get players like me hooked on the first game early through a PS5 patch so we go buy the sequel come February.
@GoodGame My advice, ah the gunner because he has great firepower, the nice Zipline, and a shield to keep you and your teammates.from going down. The game also drastically improves once you unlock the more entertaining missions that have way cooler levels and objectives than the beginning's simpler caves and mining.
"PS Move was holding developer back". This is actually a clever point I haven't heard anywhere yet. Heard talk about how the new headset has higher resolutions than almost anything out now, but the fact we're getting iteration on 11 year old controllers is exciting, especially since the Dual sense was such a great leap.
@Alduin has a point, Persona 4 Golden should come to PS4-5 ASAP. It's would've been reasonable to expect its release would happen before this, too. Kinda a head scratcher

Ray-tracing mode seemed to be missing this, so I'm glad it's getting added. Still can't stand the 30fps though.

Death Stranding Director's Cut, Metro Exodus, Returnal, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 Remake all 10s in my book.
