That would be the most unbelievable waste of resources for such a high profile IP I can think of. And I'm not just saying that because I just platinumed the game this year
From the couple people I know with thousands of hours on PayDay2, as well as my own day one experience, this game is an extreme letdown. One of the more botched sequels in history.
It should be allowed to be in the conversation, but the critics need better taste. Because this isn't a dry year, Stellar Blade, Silent Hill, Space Marine 2, etc. deserve the spot
After Alan Wake II this is totally deserved. I'm excited to see what Control 2 will bring to the table- hopefully some better gameplay and characters. Jesse is not that interesting to me
Why the hell not? DLCs and Remasters are going to have to be extraordinarily good to compete with actual Game of the Year contenders, but I'm comfortable with them being in the conversation. If Phantom Liberty had released during a really dry year I would have been fine with it winning Game of the Year, but that sort of circumstance may never happen. Even if another year like 2014 rolls around, another Dragon Age Inquisition will probably still be more deserving and end up winning above a remaster or DLC.
@LifeGirl Your comment would make sense if it didn't run counter to how Black Ops 6 actually works. I just mean that leveling up directly unlocks more mechanics and weapons, so doing so faster is actually a way to increase the fun you're having by getting different weapons, lethals, tacticals, score streaks, attachments, field upgrades, etc. Double the speed means quicker access to more fun. You're also unaware that this Cod truly doesn't have any perks that are above the rest, so prestiging is only relevant to losing access to the rest of what goes into your loadout (and scoretreaks). But when you prestige you get permanent unlock tokens now, so after my first prestige I used mine to get my favorite weapon that is unlocked at max level so now I will always have access to it when I prestige. As Liam said, this Cod also has the most alluring and "best" prestige system I've seen to date.
The day after release I tried the Last of Us Part I & II and didn't realize it but Part I's pro patch hadn't even shipped yet. Thankfully that was the case, because I didn't think it looked that enhanced- but after the update it certainly does. Anyway, it has been annoying games are marked but don't have the update. The Callisto Protocol supposedly is getting one and I thought it already had it, so I was disappointed there too. I'm putting dozens of hours into Black Ops 6 before it even gets the pro update too, I think.
Fall of Man was the first game I played on my PS3 Christmas '06. Played four-player split screen with the family. I loved that game, and I especially remember the opening to the campaign being very memorable because of its disturbing yet intriguing monsters. I can still recall Cole desperately clawing the little bugs off his clothes as he and his unit were infested
Walked into the dining hall with Quality+RT and it ran at sub 30fps . Disappointed, tbh . The performance mode looked pretty crisp and ran way better though.
It looks and runs gorgeously. I was most impressed with clothing textures but above all the foliage. There's some moss on top of the school in Seattle that looked completely photo-realistic but completely 3d and natural to the scene. If you want to jump around and see how things are looking I suggest playing some encounters.
This game is going to be one of the most consumed pieces of media in human history. It's going to sell an unbelievable number of copies, and it will be in the zeitgeist like nothing else we've seen
I think this game is maybe the best example of waiting to buy a game until it's fully optimized- maybe behind Cyberpunk 2077. I feel like I've been rewarded waiting to buy this, Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, etc. just because they're getting PS5 Pro enhancements
It saddens me to hear this if only because it means many people didn't play the game. Words can't explain how amazing this game is- I'll be playing through it again with the PS5 pro patch this month feeling bad for those blissfully ignorant of its magnificence.
I've got a 4k TV and the PS4 games I'm most excited to see if they get some polishing are Darkest Dungeon 1 & Witcher: Thronebreaker. These are pretty static games with a lot of staring at UI and Darkest Dungeon 1 looked pretty low fidelity when I last played it. I'm just interested to see if the resolution is upscaled towards 4k in a noticeable and perhaps significant way
I just bought the game and I'm excited to run some MP and Campaign this weekend . Hard point, Kill Confirmed, and Domination only. Gotta keep people moving around the map . FFA and TDM has always had camper problems
I mean PS5 has the largest and most impressive catalogue of great games of any console ever. Partly because it has so many generations of amazing games playable on it
@nessisonett because one of the endings of that game has a character die, so now I know they can't show up in this sequel. It's pretty straightforward to see where I'm coming from if you've played the first game and seen both endings .
@DennisReynolds with the risk of sounding rude, how can revealing how the ending of the previous game is treated in the sequel NOT be a spoiler? Before I read his comment I didn't know if Chloe was going to show up or not, now I know she can't show up at all.
This is one of my favorite series. I've seen a lot of poor reception for the first game and Before the Storm, so I still have hope I will really like this one. I am sad that this and the new Dragon Age may be disappointing, I really thought this was going to be a really standout week for release but it seems that may not be the case.
@Th3solution need to invest in + multiplier combined with x multiplier. Once you get a joker with like x2.5 and you get a nice base mult you're gonna snowball high scores
@Jrs1 @Th3solution you guys just need to keep it up as you'll unlock more jokers as you play and you'll just naturally get luckier in some runs. You will definitely get millions of score if you just keep playing
Anything attached to Naughty Dog has to be extraordinary or people will be let down. The bar is so incredibly high- it's been miraculously raised with every release since Uncharted 2. Every new game they release has to be better than the last, and they must be quite a burden. The only stick in the spokes so far has been cancelling Factions, but who's to say it isn't being integrated into TLOU Part 3? I hope Naughty Dog keeps delivering for everyone's sakes, but how long can they keep raising the bar?
Somewhere someone made a lot of money and wasted a lot of time with the suggestion that Call of Duty needed a nexus point that launched into a number of Call of Duty skews. I don't want to have "Call of Duty" on my home screen and trophy list, I want Black Ops 6! And I certainly don't want Modern Warfare 2 (2)!
I was ready to go all-digital in December 2014 on PS4. If they hadn't bundled GTA 5 in with my PS4 I wouldn't have gotten a disc for years. Only reason I have PS4 or PS5 discs are the deals I got buying them physically
I really like that I can put my captures there and go through 10 random ones every so often, picking one to be the new background of the hub. It's reminding me of so many games and fun moments in them. I think I've got like 7000+ screenshots
Never forget that Blizzard had refrigerators in their offices fitted with padlocks because without them female employees were having their stored breast milk stolen. That's not even part of the directed sexual harassment allegations, that's just how freaky blizzard devs are!
Peter Stornmare again is fire. I will definitely be seeing this movie, Until Dawn is really good and I think it's possible to have a great film out of it
@Bentleyma I think it effectively is making the 60fps mode the must-play mode, but they're going to give people the choice to REALLY juice up the visuals at 30fps if they so desire.
My money's on the studio with the writer/universe creator & key artist with NetEase funding. That sounds like the ingredients needed to really build something special again
@Max_the_German it's not about nostalgia, it's about time and place. Uncharted 2 is not some powerhouse game compared to what we get today, but back then it was revolutionary in many ways. A totally impressive, amazing spectacle that was a must play
This game would have benefitted from some radio silence. Why tell us in 2021 you're working on a game for 2026 that may get cancelled before we even see it?
I'm very excited. I've already clocked 200 hours on the PS5 version that came out this year and I'd love to be able to play No Return in fidelity mode with high frame rate. Behind parts of Alan Wake, this is still the most gorgeous visual design I've seen in a game. The fidelity it has is only eclipsed by Horizon Forbidden West, which just has absurd 4k detail.
I've heard only good things about the game, but that state of play snippet shown looked pretty bad to me in the cutscenes. I will probably jump right in to this game on release if it gets around or over an 85
