Re: Feature: PSVR2 Three Months Later - The Good, The Bad, and The Worrying

Andee

I really wanted PSVR2 to do well — I wonder if a lack of backwards compatibility might have hurt it a little - I mean, could you imagine if the PS5 had launched without BC? I've been waiting for various words-of-mouth to gush about an absolute system seller that's going to change my overall indifference towards it, but we're months after launch and I'm still waiting.

Also, to echo a few sentiments here, the few times I've tried VR I've definitely experienced some level of motion sickness. Not consistently, but certainly enough times to seriously question dropping over half a grand on one.

Re: Best PS3 Games

@jgrangervikings1 It's a fascinating list, seeing the majority which were re-released on PS4/5. I've still got my PS3 connected for a couple of handfuls of games which is slowly being whittled down, but a list of best PS3 exclusives would make for a good read. All those weird little indie titles from the beginning of the console's life, like Trash Panic, Super Rub a Dub, and Katamari Forever. I'd love for Sega to sort out whatever licensing issues are preventing Outrun 2 and Afterburner Climax from being released on modern consoles as well.

@KidBoruto oh definitely — they're almost like an automatic Disney/Pixar award for being Disney/Pixar. It's like "well, we showed how diverse we are by giving that weird Japanese film the award two decades ago, what more do you want from us?" How about acknowledging Cartoon Saloon or Laika once in a while?

And yes, big fan! Although I still haven't got around to that HBO miniseries that came out a few years ago...

Re: Preview: Final Fantasy 16 Is Shaping Up to Be a PS5 Game of the Year Contender

@Browny Yeah, while Final Fantasy has been the series that tends to "move with the times", for better or worse, Dragon Quest has always been a reliable, dependable, "traditional" turn-based JRPG, at least in terms of its mainline numbered iterations (which is why I always think they should have called DQX "Dragon Quest Online" or something, as that always felt like a bit of an outlier)

@Fiendish-Beaver Nah, you'll be fine — the Crystals reference is just one of numerous oft-recurring elements that many FF games share, but you don't need to have played any previous games to understand others; aside from a couple of direct sequels (FFXIII 1-3, FFX 1-2, and FFXII: Revenant Wings), they're all completely unconnected standalone universes

@StrickenBiged Yeah, while I enjoyed FFVIIR for what it was, and it is a much more modernised in terms of gameplay/QoL/aesthetics, you're simply not getting the full story that you would have if you played the current version of FFVII that exists on the PSN/eShop. If you can get past the PS1-era graphics (although I find the designs quite charming) and turn based battles, it's definitely a good start if you've never played a FF game before (although personally I would recommend IX)
