Re: Elden Ring Update 1.09 Adds Ray Tracing on PS5, Here Are All the Patch Notes

Arnna

The frame rate might take a hit but I’m keen to give it a go with Ray Tracing nonetheless.
Makes me want to start a new character!!! I’ve finished it 5 times already but I doubt I’ve seen everything! Such an amazing game. BRING ON THE DLC. Fromsoft DLC is always epic!
Dark Souls 2 has my favourite DLC and is my fav FS game. Unpopular opinion but hey, that’s how I roll. But no fat-rolls 🤪

Re: Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse (PS5) - A Warts and All Survival Horror Remaster

@EvilSilentFrame Yeah I wasn’t saying they should be directly compared. I just meant that clunkiness, tedious combat and slow movement are not positive attributes. Not at all. They add nothing expect fodder for insufferable purists to whine about.
I love RE4 (Original) but I would never try to argue it’s clunkiness is something that elevates it above later games. It’s just not logical.
In the case of Fatal Frame, those attributes mentioned are negatives not positives.

Re: Resident Evil 4 PS5 Remake Spoilers Are Rife As Retailers Break Street Date

Arnna

I think it comes down to personal preference and self control. Personally, I don’t like to read anything much about games, tv shows, movies or books - choosing to ‘go in blind’. I feel like I enjoy things better that way. For RE4 Remake I’m not going to read spoilers or play the demo or read the final review (until after I finish it). Of course I know the section of the game the demo is based on but I want that visceral enjoyment that will no doubt happen when I play the full game. I have been playing RE4 each year since it’s original release and adore the game, like many.
However I have a friend who always plays demos and reads reviews and often reads spoilers because he can’t wait to devour all information available - and that’s fine too!
But I definitely think the internet has greatly heightened the sense of FOMO and created this atmosphere where people are racing to finish games on day one, as some kind of badge of honour or ‘internet brownie points’ especially with video games. I say to that, slow down and smell the flowers. Anyway. Those are my thoughts 🤔

@Northern_munkey You don’t get to police my tone or comments. Nor do you get to tell me when or how I should criticise Rowling. I don’t believe for a second you have trans friends - you’re invoking an imaginary situation to desperately try to add legitimacy to your argument. I am trans, and I’ll talk about the topic however I please, within the boundaries of the terms of service.

@Northern_munkey Feel free to show us all where I was toxic, antisocial, childish, bullying, insulting, or bitter.
The issue here is you made a snarky and sarcastic comment which i responded to intelligently. You’ve then proceeded to write a passive aggressive and fragile diatribe because you don’t like being called out. Grow up.

@Northern_munkey Having principles and standing up to discrimination is not ‘hating’. However, the author of Harry Potter is very much hating vulnerable people who haven’t hurt anyone and don’t deserve it. It sounds like you would rather ridicule those who dare to mention her rather than stand for anything yourself. Brave.
As Push Square said, her work doesn’t exist inside a vacuum. There are real world consequences to platforming her and/or her body of work.

Re: Resident Evil Village (PSVR2) - An Even More Intense Version of a PS5 Great

Arnna

@OrtadragoonX The Ps4 version is hardly a ‘heavy downgrade’. The only significant difference between PS4 and Ps5 versions are haptic feedback , marginally better textures and Ray tracing. Ray tracing is the most immediately noticeable. Both versions have rock solid frame rates. At launch, the ps4 version had a more consistent frame rate. I’ve played through both versions a half dozen times each.
Either way it’s a fantastic looking game. With a few exceptions, Capcom’s games are always graphically elite!

Re: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Gets Blistering Launch Trailer Ahead of Impending Release

Arnna

@KundaliniRising333 I didn’t ignore anything. Your complaints amount to 4 things. The graphics, the loot, UI and one vague sentence about level design.
Graphics - Your statement that the graphics affect the combat/gameplay is nonsensical to me. I’ve never experienced a single moment where this is the case and I have 2000 hours clocked in Nioh 2. Care to elaborate using specifics?
The graphics are obviously not cutting edge but if you need amazing graphics to enjoy a game I don’t know what to tell you. I’d rather have amazing gameplay than amazing graphics and I think most gamers would agree.
As for the loot. There are at least three ways to offload loot which allow you more flexibility, especially in the later game. Two of these are dismantling loot for tempering options in the blacksmith, and ‘making offerings’ which convert loot into one of the game’s two currencies. Literally the only way to obtain this currency.
You can also set up thresholds in the options which stop you from being able to pick up loot based on the selected rarity threshold.
As for the UI - It’s a complicated game, it’s going to have a complicated UI. Anyone who has reached end-game content is intimately familiar with the menus and can navigate them quickly.
Personally, the only part I found unintuitive in Nioh 2 was the skill-tree menu.
Level design - While not on par with FROMSOFT level design, I never thought of the level design in Nioh 2 to be ‘bad’ in any way.
For the most part they have clever shortcuts that open up as you play each level and have good variety of visual styles between regions.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. The draw of Nioh is that is has the best combat and build variety of any ‘souls like’ and the sheer variety of complex options and menus leave absolutely nothing missing or wanting. The end game content (Underworld) and the NG+ cycles add new enemies and totally different enemy placement. You can essentially play the game 5 times and have a different experience each time. Then if you add the 100 levels of Underworld, it’s amazing value, and something that FROMSOFT could learn from.
We haven’t seen different enemies and enemy placement for NG+ in a FROMSOFT game since Dark Souls 2.

Cannot wait for this. It looks quite similar to Nioh and as far as I’m concerned that’s a VERY good thing. The superb gameplay loop and amazing combat in Nioh 2 hooked me for years - in fact I still play it daily. I couldn’t care less if the graphics aren’t next-level, I play these games for the gameplay, sheer number of builds and complex, in-depth systems and variety of options.
Easily the best game I’ve played in the last two generations. BRING ON WO-LONG.
