Re: Soapbox: I Spent 3 Days with the Concord Trophy Hunters Who Dedicated Their Lives to Unlocking the PS5, PC Platinum

BigJoze

@MrPeanutbutterz I don't think that's a fair view on seeing a platinum on someone's account, some games have easy platinums for starters. Speaking for myself, I like to check out the trophies of a game once I've played through it to completion without looking at them, at that point, the trophies can add new life to a game I'd otherwise be done with, sometimes revealing features or whole sections of the game I didn't know was there or didn't bother to check.

I rarely commit to getting the plat in any games these days, but I do have a few.

Recently after completing the F2 and F1 career in F1 23, I checked the trophies, it led me to the F1 World section, it's pretty cool, I would never have went into that if it wasn't for the trophies lol, trophies almost act like a guide of the games features to me. I probably won't try for the plat for that game though, but the trophies expanded my horizons for that game

Some games I'll look at the trophy list and decide some or too many of them would take too long or too much effort, so I don't bother with those, might try a couple of the other trophies and just not bother with the platinum

Always use them as a reason to extend the fun as well, not to just grind mindlessly for a digital trophy, when the fun stops so does the trophy hunting

Re: Crash Bandicoot 5 Reportedly Cut in Favour of More Live Service Games

@Jacko11 if they don't make a lot of money from single player games, then they should spend less money making them. There are small studios out there making games that look AAA, like that new game called Defect for example. (In the context of my opinion of not wanting to see more GaaS)

They will ultimately try and do what makes the most money. If they try GaaS and it works they'll keep doing it, they may make a couple single player games to satisfy the likes of you. But I don't care about any of that.

Even if I did play a GaaS game, I personally never spend money in these games, so they're making nothing off me anyway...

If they do GaaS and flop, and then they can't afford to make single player games, then oh ***** well. I'll go play a single player games by a studio who can manage it, or, play older games or no games. I'm no gonna be some puppet in propping up a multimillion pound company so they can afford to make more GaaS games and maybe some single player games.

I'm not dismissing GaaS as a protest, I simply couldn't give a ***** about the vast majority of them, I like firing into a normal multiplayer or single player.

Also, I echo what @Ainu20 said too

"While online multiplayer games were a standard during the PS3 generation, rarely did they offer more than a standard suite of modes, maps, and level unlocks. You could reach the maximum rank and see everything an online mode has to offer inside just a few days, then left to wait for the next map pack to arrive. However, once the PS4 rolled around, these experiences became considerably more in-depth, giving rise to the likes of Fortnite and Genshin Impact — games you could quite comfortably play daily and never have to touch anything else."

Such a sad paragraph, there were plenty PS3 games that took quite a while to fully rank up and unlock everything, sometimes quite a long time.

It was much more compelling to do so since ranking up you unlocked cosmetics among other things, instead of paying for them.

Fortnite etc being more in-depth? Lol, they perpetually add cosmetics for purchase, oh yes, so much more in-depth. Load of rubbish, they're less in-depth if anything. Happy to elaborate if anyone replies and disagrees lol, but I'll leave it at that for this comment

Re: Rumour: Call of Duty Games Will Feature Open World Campaigns Starting This Year

BigJoze

This is clearly an easier option for them than creating a unique linear campaign, since they're putting so much effort and focus into creating large warzone maps, that probably leaves less resources to create the campaign so they're taking the easy route and reusing warzone assets etc. Even if they create new maps for campaign etc, that's got to be easier than creating unique meaningful linear levels

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 417

BigJoze

@Kidfunkadelic83 yeah it was just today I encountered this issue to my detriment, I backed out the race a put wets on, didn't rain for the first 3 laps and was thinking it wouldn't. It didn't eventually, either way I was quick enough in the dry conditions on the wets. But I can see that becoming quite infuriating. Probably end up entering every race that's quite long and might rain with inters on lol

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 417

BigJoze

@Kidfunkadelic83 that's fair enough, I actually agree with every point you made. The campaign is more like a catch up race than a race lol. As you said it's still great. I think they might've kept the rolling starts and the big gap to the car that's first because otherwise the AI wouldn't be too challenging, I think whenever they add that GT Sophy AI it might improve things, might be able to have standing starts, we'll see

Re: GTA Trilogy Could Be Pretty Pricey on PS5, PS4

BigJoze

@EquiinoxGII i know, I doubt they'll be this expensive. If they are, they'll come down in price eventually. They've been cheap for years in their current state so can't complain. Hopefully whatever they're priced at reflects the effort put into them, so if they're expensive, then I'd hope they would look really good and have improved gameplay

Re: GTA Trilogy Could Be Pretty Pricey on PS5, PS4

BigJoze

@EquiinoxGII every game sold ever is a money grab. It is an attempt to make you part with your money. Could argue the more "fairly priced" games are more of a money grab because they successfully grab yer money 😂

Re: Rockstar Removing PS2 Versions of GTA from PS Store

BigJoze

@ThaBEN I've just recently finished the GTA3 (playing the PS4 version on my ps5) story again and found all the hidden packages. Some of the controls definitely need upgrading like the shooting. At least I won't be as shocked when this version releases. But whether or not I get it will depend on how significant an upgrade it is
