Not suprised FF16 is no1 on a PS site, Was good but no more than an 8/10 for me. I feel by the end of the year you'll be looking at TOTK, Starfield or Spiderman 2 as the top 3 contenders. Hogwarts Legacy will sell the most out of any of these games and will only be behind Fifa and COD.

They have more creative freedom away from the Fifa licence which may carry mixed results as they figure out what they want.

Beyond the name, The FifaPro and league licences are still all there so there won't be much difference. Expect Fifa 23 but without the name, new kits, updated sqauds and some tweaks to career mode and online modes.

Play it on gamepass, the easy choice.

If Sony are smart, which I am sure they are, they will only manufacture 40% of the disc drives vs the number of new digital slim consoles (with the sealed disc drive port). They can scrap the old digital and discs drive versions, sell the console as digital by default and then really push hard on digital. Disc drive could also be £80 so if someone does buy one Sony could get as much money if not more vs the old console.

If anyone does actually know it would be MS, that's why both consoles always have similar specs and come out around the same time.

isn't too bad, I always play with English dub when the option is there as I want to focus on the screen rather than reading subs. Never understood the JP subs snobbery myself.

I can see the SEGA deal happening in the future. I own a PS5 and Xbox so I don't really mind who buys what as long as the game itself is good.

This news should come as a surprise to nobody. Sony don't pay Marvel all that money to put Spiderman and Wolverine on Xbox do they?

I wouldn't trust MS, Sony or any Billion/Trillion Dollar company to keep their word so again you are naïve if you think that was going to happen.

Guess this is good news for both sets of fanboys though - something to talk about.

As someone who always prefers the English VA in Sega games, it's good to know that Like a Gaiden will get English VA.

Interesting fact: the English voice actor for Clive mentioned in a Skill UP interview that his English script was actually the baseline for the Japanese and all over versions which is why the English dub version is so good.

No Persona no go

Game is in a great state now, PS5 version is esp good and even the version I have on Series S is running at a nice 60fps. Looking forward to the DLC and hope that the move to Unreal engine 5 will give them far less issues for Witcher 4 and the next Cyberpunk game.

For anyone who hasn't played the game at all or in a while and is interested in more than just sideling criticisms this is the perfect time to grab the game and dlc on sale.

With Starfield available to play from 1st of Sept, plus some other big hitters I think this isn't going to pan out too great in regards to sales. The summer is very quiet and it is a shame they could not take advantage of that.

Why not wait until this new version of PS5 drops (as it will be digital by default without the disc drive add on).

If you told me in 2013 as I was playing GTA 5 on my PS3 that GTA 6 would not be out yet I would have never believed you!

@UltimateOtaku91 Was pretty good considering the what the price tag will be! VA Language options are English, Japanese and Korean. Most of what I have played so far has VA.

After playing the PC demo I am looking forward to this even more!

Money not well spent, might have been more impactful on the actual game at launch or a much more successful game like Hogwarts Legacy. Even the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC would have been a bigger get.

Seems like Gaiden will also be an important pre story to infinite wealth and the action combat looks really cool! (Hoping this one has English dub now that Kiryu has an English VA).

Going to pre order the standard digital ed. I think only early access could make me sway and go for the next version up. Starfield has me thinking on upgrading because of the 5 day early access.

@UltimateOtaku91 I work on the digital side of a business that sells a wide range of products including games. Usually when the publisher sends across information it will include dates, visual assets, promo material which will they be formatted to the website at the correct time. I basically do the copyrighting for the gaming section. What I can see is Feb 16th 2024. They put Feb 14th 2024 before but it has been just been updated and may be again. I can't say I am suprised as Sega usally do 3 month stagger dates. They did the same with P5R Oct 21st port last year and then Jan 18th P3/P4 port this year. Even Yakuza 8 has a provisonal date on my back end system (March 24)

Good to see the game multiplat, and I am glad that more high quality jrpgs on Xbox alongside PS and other platforms.

Xbox was smart to get marketing, as its all over their Japanese adverts even post embargo which will enchnace the brand presence there. It won't sway the likes of us lot who already own a PS5 here, but there many many other casual gamers outside the echo chamber who will have a cheap way to access this kind of game (XSS). For me as a multi plat gamer I welcome all platforms upping thier game.

Now let's get FF7 Remake on Xbox since most here believe 3rd party exclusivity is bad for gaming.

I look forward to GTA 6 (as long as it has a single player story mode). I wouldn't expect any kind of announcement until the game awards in dec at the very very earliest. It is most likely going to be revealed next summer with a mid to late 2025 launch. And that's me being optimistic!

A) This game is literally another part of the same game that launched on PS4

B) FF7 Remake ran perfectly fine on PS4 and I am pretty sure this is the same game engine

C) Just because someone cannot afford a PS5 or might not be ready for one, you shouldn't gatekeep and say they should focus on other things.

The only game that I have actually needed a PS5 for is FF16 because they decided to go next gen only but pretty much every single other new AAA game up until now has been available on PS4 and worked fine. My next most anticipated game is Enternights - a PS4 game.

I'm lucky enough to be able to get a PS5 but I am certainly not going to begrudge what is still a reasonably large PS4 player base the opportunity to play a game on a game engine that we know can run on a PS4 to a decent standard.

Nothing much for me this month, waiting for some more JRPG's to drop. Sakuna of Rice and Ruin was a great start, maybe something like the Diofield Chronicle would be nice!

@TheTony316 Yeah it was just the next gen ver that was exclusive which i remember caused a bit of a stir on here at the time. I think it would be a timed window of 3-6 months if it does happen (Guess I am 50/50 based on work stuff)

@Tharsman Yeah I can imagine if a deal has been struck it is 3 or 6 months, would line up with how things pan out at work.

@TheTony316 From the early indications at my workplace I wouldn't be sure. Xbox and Sega Did the like a dragon deal in 2020 where the PS5 version came out several months later and it wasn't on gamepass and the deal was never mentioned. Also last year when the P5R listing was added to the back end server for switch the same time (although under NDA at the time so companies cannot say/tho things do leak.) So far I can see Xbox and PC which is weird but just waiting for more news.

@pharos_haven In the case of MS and their Xbox division subscriptions, add on $ value and played hours are the success metrics they will be looking at rather than game discs or full price digital sales. Played hours in JRPGS on the MS platform have increased significantly when I have looked at the most played charts when on my Xbox. I work for a UK company that offers a broad range of games alongside other products and games like Persona 5 Royal sold particularly well on Xbox which even I was surprised about.

Demo was chefs kiss, really set the tone for what the game is about and got me excited on the crazy story that could unfold. Music gave me Xenoblade 3 vibes for some reason.

Beyond what I know work wise (Prev post), if this game is an Xbox exclusive I won't be upset as I have an Xbox to go alongside my PS5.

The Xbox JRPG player base (contrary to some PS only users belief) is steadily growing and needs more high quality JRPGS to engage the audience. How can Jrpgs sell well on Xbox if they haven't launched there in the most part for many years. PS is just as Americanised as Xbox now and people in Japan know it (Switch sales show that clearly) so why shouldn't Xbox also be a place for Jrpgs in the West.

Really enjoyed it and now can't wait to play the full game! The story has me gripped. I also kind of enjoyed the swearing, very british indeed and I can relate! haha.
