From what I can see online it has been getting an expectational reception and I am not at all surprised. This will be game of the generation unless something truly ground breaking can top it. I expected 2025 and it is certainly something to look forward too!
I really hope they fix the FSR 2 visual glitching bug on PS5, after 1.6 it has really ruined the game for me having that constant glitching as the resolution transitions.
I'd be happy to have the show without the mostly over excited or under excited audience. I just want to see what games/hardware is coming out next year.
I was expecting this in 2024 so not surprised. There is plenty to be playing in early 2024 if you like Japanese games. Pretty stacked until April so I'd be good with a summer or winter release date.
Sadly this will be half baked with 2 licenced stadiums and lots of missing features like the qualification stages. I actually did not mind the standalone games because at least EA had to pretend to make an effort.
Would be very surprised if Hogwarts Legacy hasn't already cleared 30m + units considering it's been in the top 10 in most global sales charts (Pys/Digital) since weeks before it even launched in Feb. Very much going to be one of the best selling games of the generation (Behind GTA 6 of course).
I like having the option of owning 3 consoles and getting different types of games on all of them. I feel sorry for those that want to see other gaming platforms fail because it doesn't cater to their tastes. It's a selfish and poorly educated view.
Interesting to see a lot of PS centric players predicting Xbox will leave the console hardware space (Is that what they secretly want so they their beloved console gets more adoration?) It seems Xbox will continue to support hardware alongside its vast publishing and cloud arms well into the next decade. After that who knows. Microsoft itself did become very much obscenely successful from software. I like both consoles as they offer great things in diffrernt areas. The more console options we have the better. One day in the not too distant future we will rue the loss of console hardware altogether.
Disclaimer: Just my opinion. No need to respond and tell me why I'm wrong/try to prove me wrong.
The newer and cheaper build ps5 (thankfully not near the UK yet) feels a lot like the Spider-Man 2 "Limited" edition console. It's phoning it in with the easiest/cheapest designs devoid of quality that maximise profit. New PS5 owners will need to pay for a stand that I got for free. Regardless of if you need to stand for vertical (for digital version you definitely will) it should be free if the RRP is the same.
The Spider-Man 2 controller is effectively a black dualsense with Spider-man print on it and some white dualsense buttons to replace the black ones. The God of War controller was the closest we got to a truly unique design colour palette for a special edition that wasn't cannibalised from the production line. The hogwarts legacy dualsense was even worse. I'm aware Sony is a shareholded business that wants profit but there is a balance to be had to not take the customer for too much of a ride.
The newer colourways are a good step to correct this. And I hope there are some unique special edition colourways with the production lines in full swing.
I'm glad I have the older ps5, I enjoy the games but I do not enjoy the cheaper quality yet same price ethos they are going with. I hope any PS5 pro model gets that premium level of quality and innovation that I've come to know Sony for over the last 25 years. Maybe new UK players will be happy with the new PS5, but I'm not too sad that it won't be here until early next year.
It would have been developed for the PS4 and PS5 and it will be interesting to see if it's economically viable enough for T2 to drop the PS4 version.
Red Dead Redemption 2 showed that Rockstar can do a lot in terms on graphics, detail and complex game systems on PS4 but it would be nice to see them push even further with the PS5.
New players will get cheaper materials and the industry standard 1TB storage for the same price. 30% less of anything is literally something. But not a lot of something really. Hopefully the newer model holds up as long as the original.
@Pete_Stooge Heat sink reduction, Cheaper fan model alongside the cheaper RAM and SSD I/O with no change to the chipset and cheaper plastic casings. They increased the SSD at no extra cost due to falling prices. This was a cost cutting excercise and they did not pass on the savings to the customer like in previous generations.
Short time rudimentry metrics from youtubers show similar results on the key metrics like heat and fan noise but we will see how the newer system holds up with a drastically reduced heatsink over time.
If you are happy with Sony charging you the same (and sometimes more) for a product that is cheaper to build then thats fine. I just know I wouldn't be without a £50 price cut.
I feel sorry for new PS5 owners. Cheaper materials, lower quailty. But none of the savings passed on. Those who have brought the discounted PS5's in the last couple of months were the smart ones.
The west is just as bad an Censorship as Japan so none of us here can point any fingers really. Having intercourse with animals is just about as weird as I have seen in any JP game.
I'll definitely be playing as soon as the English dub drops. Hopefully it won't be too long after launch. I'll have the Tales of Arise dlc to keep me busy until then
@KundaliniRising333 There are a lot more than 15 reviews on YouTube. MC has never been a fair way to judge a game. It's not a perfect game by it's definitely exceeded expectations if you look at the online reviews or even PureXbox (7/10) IGN (7/10)
@PsBoxSwitchOwner This score is an outlier (copying sister company EG), with most reviews so far giving this an 8/10. It's much better than I expected.
You can thank Jim Ryan for the sheer Euro domination of Playstation. I know most players won't, but Sony's CEO and shareholders will. He left behind a very healthy market.
I like Xbox too, and Starfield is a game I have enjoyed more than any other this year, but it is clear they are going in the directon of Software growth as they did with thier windows products (Withdrawing from hardware to create huge market cap growth). Satya Nadella has doubled down cloud based soultions and this is now working it's way (slowly) into Xbox.
I'm pretty certain Microsoft doesn't care about selling the consoles now, they want to sell you software (Games) and services (Gamepass/Cloud gaming).
I'd give it an 8 because it was great. Nothing much new, and some fairly annoying bugs but I enjoyed the story and I knew what I was doing based on the last game. I don't think anyone with the full mental capacities and played RDR2 could look themselves in the mirror and give this game a 10 (which is reserved for games of generational innovation).
@KundaliniRising333 FSR has really messed up Cyberpunk 2077 since 1.6 and even worse in 2.0 so I have felt that FSR image break up pain in my eyes. It's like being a real life V who's eyes a distorting!
Ive had quite a lot yes - very suprising for an Insomniac game. The worst was the missing voice over for vital cutscenes and a few crashes back to the PS dashboard.
Hogwarts Legacy is like the new GTA 5, it is always in the top 10 pretty much every single week. Easily the best selling game of this year. It had already cleared nearly 20 million units in early MAY.
@nessisonett I'm guessing they would have to use the exsisting refund system then credit the user the specified amount of store credit based on the PS trade in pricing structure.
I played the game and managed to clear the story and the predator side content in 11 hours. It's definitely a fair bit shorter than I was expecting. I'm lucky I have the luxury to be able to afford 3-4 £70 games per month but I can imagine someone who can only afford one per month or less could feel a little short changed if they are looking for time value.
I've been enjoying it but since 2.0 there has been a lot of visual glictching that I didn't see before. Unsure if it's anti aliasing or something else but the image will glitch which switching the camera from back to front or when walking fast into a new environment.
I'm playing this directly off the back of Spider-man remastered and it feel mostly like the same game apart from some nice QOL improvements. 8 or 9 out of 10 seems fair. I'm sure there will be hardcore Spider-man fans that will give it a 10 because it's Spider-man but I can't see why I would score it the same as RDR 2.

Ironic that the majority of those who complain about the English VAs only play in Japanese anyways.

Re: Court Rules £5 Billion Lawsuit Against Sony Can Go Ahead, Following Years of 'Excessive' PS Store Prices
@bluesylvanite
1.) I'm not saying keeping sueing so they make no operating profit. But 20-25% is a reasonable % target for all consoles.
2.) Many 3P AAA games are cheaper on Steam than on the PS store:
Examples at full prices:
BG3: Steam £49.99 - PS store £57.99
FC 24 - Steam £59.99 PS store £69.99
Hogwarts Legacy - Steam - £49.99 - Ps store £64.99
Star Wars Jedi Survivor - Steam £ 59.99 - Ps store £69.99
And I could add plenty more 2023 launches with a price diffrence.
You can buy the discs in store for the steam prices.
MS and Nintendo do the same thing and they should all reduce thier % to be more in line with PC and PYS games.
Re: Court Rules £5 Billion Lawsuit Against Sony Can Go Ahead, Following Years of 'Excessive' PS Store Prices
@SJBUK "You don't like that 30%? How much should Sony, or anyone else in fact, take then?"
25% or 20% would be better. PC games are cheaper for a reason.

Nice little earner for Microsoft. It will help them invest more into the gaming division which can only be a good thing.
