@UltimateOtaku91 Will be interesting to see what happens. Remember USA no price change. I don’t think in UK and Europe it will make any difference, PS5 is on a roll there.
Next year maybe more interesting 2023 when and if Microsoft release a AAA top end exclusive game if that’s possible that lights up gamers and more importantly the general public. But being honest it don’t think the games so called scheduled from Xbox next year so far will do that much.
Don’t forget what Xbox wanted to do in the Xbox one days. Sony did not back down and went their way which got a trillion dollar company Microsoft to reverse and change their ways. Perhaps we should do what Microsoft wanted to do back then.
@GamingFan4Lyf So are all the oil and petrol companies So are all the gas and electric companies So are the food industry Record profits and we all get shafted far more than what Sony are doing. Give me the slight price increase and Sony top AAA games any day, whilst over the last two years the other two have done hardly anything big AAA game wise. I would hardly anything to play new big AAA game wise if it was not for Sony since November 2020.
Let’s not forget if it was not for Sony this new generation would be absolutely rubbish AAA game wise. Family wise Sackboy and Rachet and Clank and Miles Morales get played. HFW and Returnal and Ghost of T expansion for me and GOWR to look forward to this November.
Since November 2022 the other two have released almost sod all AAA games.
I would rather pay £480 and £70 a game for AAA new games and enjoy those experiences.
@Skyfall Yes Sony did lose out on being the most powerful console. But Microsoft have made a Lamborghini but drive it at 10mph. Sony have the studios that make their slightly less powerful console shine above the more powerful series x. Just look at Halo Infinite compared to Horizon Forward West. Eye candy wise they are miles apart and I’m sure GOWR will shine bright as well.
Times are changing for sure around the gaming world, this new generation been a bit weird and now a price increase. My take is in the UK this will have no effect on PS5 sales what so ever. It is the the inform console with good momentum now and going into Christmas. If want a PS5 paying an extra £30 on top of £450 is not going to make you switch to a series x which currently has little to no momentum or AAA exclusives. Business/sales will continue as normal UK wise.
Getting more real you wanna look at cars prices and waiting times. My car cost me £24k new 3 years ago. Same model and specification today with an even less powerful engine and tiny electric motor doing almost nothing £31k and 6 month wait. This price thing isn’t that bad overall.
@Would_you_kindly I think like many it’s the PS exclusives that keep me at PS5. I think Sony know that and so far they have released a good view, but they need to keep it up more than ever in 2023.
It’s very interesting as in TV world the new June 2022 TVs released Sony, LG and Samsung. Now a certain range from all three 65” started in June at £2800 now those prices are at £2000 a massive reduction in a short space of time. LG C2, Sony A80K, Samsung QN90B. 65”. I know a bit different but still chips and electronics. This is because of competition and there is plenty of supply and the market for tv sales is down.
The PS5 is the opposite, demand is still out stripping supply mainly, the competition if we say the series consoles is as good as dead in the UK and Europe sales wise my locals have not shifted any for weeks now, where these sites get series consoles sales numbers from I will never know, I think they make them up. So there you go, that’s why we have a price increase.
I think some of it it’s the Xbox competition in the USA is a lot closer than Europe. Surprised a little about the UK even as the competition is a bit close in the UK. Anyway PS5 stock in the UK is good this week and right now the older price still stands. Wonder if it will change tomorrow
Doesn’t need all this reasons and excuses. Sony feel they can get away with it in the right markets Europe, UK etc etc. As where in the USA the competition is close so they can’t risk it. Simple answer is don’t buy one, then supply will out strip demand and they would need to consider a price drop.
Interesting how the new TVs from Samsung, LG and Sony are all dropping in price in the UK like crazy. It’s all electronics. It’s simply Sony knowing in EUROPE etc they can afford a little price increase and get away with it. In the USA Xbox is breathing down their neck.
The reason the USA has not had a price increase is because Xbox are very close or even ahead in sales in the USA therefore Sony have to be extremely competitive
@Titntin I think it is just a matter of personal preference really. I find the duel sense not as good to hold and prefer the offset thumb sticks and the triggers on the Xbox controller. It’s a close call but small preferences.
@Omnistalgic Everyone has their preference that’s good. I have played console games for decades and all the consoles day one with controllers and prefer Offset thumb sticks.
Just my personal preference wish they had offset the thumb sticks. Just find using my Xbox and Switch pro controllers better than my PS5 controller as they have offset thumb sticks.
My dream, one day all games on one console on day of release from whatever owned studios 😊 Just imagine turning that console on One minute playing Mario Odyssey the next GOWR the next Forza Motor sport, all on day of release. That has surly got to be gamers heaven.
@naruball Fair enough I was just going by what I have seen available for sale at my local shops and online. It seemed all HFW bundle consoles in the UK A lot more than 60/40 more like 90/10. But then who am I to believe Sony and sales results from websites. I go by what I see myself online and in shops.
@naruball Still leaves 60% for a few more bucks 😂 Please remember this is fun to me I have all three consoles since day one. From the point how each site and how the fans gang with say anything to try and protect their associated console manufacturers. When all the businesses is doing is making the max bucks it can from you all.
@Shepherd_Tallon Being honest it’s not an outrage, maybe we just expected better of companies now a days especially during current hard times. But as all businesses go if there is a chance to make a few extra bucks no matter what they will do it. Covid showed us that more than ever when people where suffer businesses were rubbing their hands with max profits in some areas. And very naughty people and businesses I guess bordering on criminal were exposing loop holes in funds and claiming them.
@stvevan First of all well done and yes the direct store drop a few now and again. But nothing compared to the amount of HFW console bundles. They drop a few to keep you sweet and make them look good. Like I said it’s great business.
@Shepherd_Tallon Tell you what it has taught me. Back in 70s and 80s the world was a bit of naughty place UK etc and elsewhere. After 40 years we have learnt nothing and as a race if we can get away with it we will. Just like businesses do in this case Sony as it’s legal they have done nothing wrong. It’s only because the laws have changed and been introduced on certain things and subjects that used to happen in the olds that there is better behaviour now, so the fear of getting caught or punished for your actions. If these laws etc had not been introduced we would no different from the 80s. The human race it takes laws and fear to make us half decent beings.
@nomither6 Not a clue how it would work, it would have to be a totally different way of working. Maybe one console to a specification they can both build. Maybe others could build but with a licence at a cost. Then Sony and Microsoft just releases games on it.
@Shepherd_Tallon Nothing is different if the others you mentioned were in the same circumstances.
Example. Sony know people want PS5 so instead of producing just the console they produce and dispatch the HFW bundle only and no console on its own. This then forces you to buy the bundle shipped with HFW by Sony if you want a PS5 as you have no other option as Sony are not shipping the console on its own and only the HFW bundle.
Don’t get me wrong great business sense. Make money whilst it lasts. But it’s a mean world. Getting another £50 out of people especially during current hard times.
It’s only a matter of time, it’s all going the same way slowly. I want the day when one console plays all games day of release end of story. I can see it maybe in the future with Xbox and Sony but not Nintendo.
@UltimateOtaku91 Totally agree better than some of those UK shop bundles especially Curry’s UK, that lot need taking down. Especially with current hard situation of cost of living etc. goes to show most businesses don’t give a duck about anyone.
@Grumblevolcano That was my point, Sony themselves no other shops involved are forcing this bundle for you to have a chance of getting a PS5. Buy only releasing this bundle from their factory and not the console on its own. Look don’t get me wrong, it’s smart business by Sony whilst the PS5 is still in high demand. But goes to show the contentment they treat the gamer/general public with, especially as the game is a digital code. One day they will get somehow bitten, just like in the tv market with Samsung and LG ruling all over them now. And just like before in the Walkman and video recorder market back in the day.
When you have no other way to buy a disc or digital PS5 than with this bundle HFW digital code then it stands a good chance of being number one.
What you don’t see is Sony forcing you to buy the game and digitally for £50 else you don’t get a PS5 console. Has Sony release these bundles to shops instead of the console on its own.
@GagaOooLaLa Well Sony have sold about 6 million more PS5 than Series consoles. So that is 6 million more chips they purchased. Also don’t forget all the other industries after chips. You tried to buy a new car recently, you might wait about 6 months plus for delivery.
Current state of affairs are roughly 21 - PS5 16 - Series consoles
I do believe a slight up tick for Xbox but of course PS5 supply shortages have not helped at all to keep the 2:1 ratio. Must be so damaging to Sony at the minute as I think they would probably be at about 30 million PS5 by now and of course increased game, controllers and subscription sales.
