Always online games are a perfect fit for subscription services. You can't feel cheated when it leaves the service when it no longer works anymore.

I hope the deal doesn't go through and Microsoft decide to chuck a load of money at them to just get COD on Game Pass for a couple of years and off PlayStation completely so they can waste their money and find out that people will not be swapping their PS for an Xbox for one game.

Before the embargo lifted you couldn't even confirm what the box was made of. There were all sorts of rumours going about that it was made from the frozen tears (of joy) of Jim Ryan.

I am more concerned that 12% of PlayStation owners bought one for the availability of no games. Maybe they bought the PS5 as a conversation piece or maybe to scalp and now stock is high and they have stitched themselves up?

Can't see this doing that well. The Mario Kart version didn't exactly set the world alight even being the "sequel" to one of the best selling games of all time. Or maybe the PlayStation market is where this gimmick will really shine.

After seeing another one bite the dust, I assume Sony are going all in on the live service with a lot of games planned as they know not all will succeed but hoping at least one does so it will pay for all the failures and then some.

I'll wait for a sale. I got a regular controller and Horizon Forbidden West for £45 before Xmas which makes the cost of this seem even more ridiculous.

They've got to do the Part 2 remake for PS5 ready for season 2 of the TV show and then Sony will push for another game for the pennies unless the multiplayer is a cash cow live service game.

Considering how one developer recently complained about trophies and achievements taking up developer resources, trophies for these old classics is a bonus for anyone that is interested in collecting them.

Without deals Sky, NOW TV and their terrible Sky Glass are not good value. I'll be cancelling after my current deal runs out, conveniently after The Last of Us finishes, unless they give me another stupidly good deal.

@Bez87 Game or Thrones is available in UHD on Sky so assume The Last of Us will be the same? Or is their UHD not 4K?

Of course it is. Which company doesn't like more money? I would be very surprised if this is a free upgrade.

It would be more newsworthy if the heads of all the big games companies weren't on there with him. Even Bobby Kotick is still there after all that controversy so seems like it is hard to get kicked off the list.

How dare they not give me a free upgrade for a game they gave me free last year. This is an outrage. I will burn all my PlayStation paraphernalia right now and I'll put in a good word for Microsoft so they can stop COD on PlayStation.
Just for clarification, this is my terrible attempt at sarcasm although I do hold a lot of sway to help nudge the Microsoft/Activision Blizzard deal over the line if I so choose.
(Note that I hold little sway about what I do on a daily basis, never mind what large corporations can do.)

I don't think this deal will impact PS5 as I think a lot of PS owners only play COD and probably some FTP titles and sports and the odd other title so Game Pass doesn't really make sense to them but it's the PS6 that Sony is worried about if they lose the title. Although I hope that in 10 years we will have the next big thing.

If that was an attempt to drum up interest, it failed for me. The only thing I am now interested in is what the hell happened to Michael Madsen.

It was 15% off the £75 the other day on Amazon so I picked it up and added another year to Premium. The Premium additions are generally lacklustre but for £63.68 for a year it would be rude not to.

@Jeanhenry A bit excessive but I get your point. I find that the footage my memory captures is a lot better than what you get on a phone.

I am still stuck on Ascension before getting stuck into God of War on PS4. This will be on sale by the time I get to it in a year or two. Looking forward to being late to the party.

After the recent Castlevania and Turtles compilations I am more optimistic than I would have been a year or two ago.

Surely this is only a record once a game releases? Anyone who can make a CGI animation could announce it as a game in development and occasionally say they are still working on it without ever releasing it.

@Smiffy01 It has been rife in hip hop for years but it used to be big artists who everyone, even those who knew little about hip hop, would recognise. They should give these combinations their own group names as there is no shortage of made up words they can use as people have the internet so cam look up for themselves who the artists are. Let the music speak for itself in the first instance.

Half the songs have a guest judging by the number of ft. artists. Is that so they can inflate the number of artists on the soundtrack for marketing purposes?

I wishlist stuff and wait for a sale price I am happy to pay if it doesn't appear on PS Plus Extra first.

@Shepherd_Tallon Without COD Sony only have rubbish like God of War, Horizon, Last of Us, Uncharted. Who wants to play that garbage? Not even sure why they bothered with that State of Play as it was definitely lacking some COD. Just give me more COD straight into my veins Jim before Microsoft take PlayStation off life support.

The games only sell about 20 million now it seems which is about 1/6 of the PS4 install base. I would say there are almost 100 million PS4 owners who don't play COD. Sony need to realise they don't need COD anyway and have faith in their own products.

They think the digital collectibles are the highlight though. The highlight should be that you can earn credit to buy games not get some digital gubbins to show off to people. I hope I can cash in all points for credit and show off my empty collectibles case.

@Princessmadllama If they are the only two game series you enjoy then Xbox is probably best for you even if the Activision deal doesn't happen but there are plenty of other games for most people on PlayStation.

If COD leaves PlayStation people will not be selling their £500 boxes and jump ship just to play it but will probably be told by YouTubers which game to play instead.

Price always enters into the equation when reviewing something. Almost everyone has said something is good for the price they paid but they wouldn't buy it if it cost much more than they paid for it or said it was very good but not worth the price they paid.

55% of Saints Row sales were on the PS5 according to an article on this site so numbers seem comparable to me and The Last of Us has a higher retail price so it made more money than the PS5 version of Saints Row physical sales.
