@zebric21 it's fun for a few hours after an update, but the longer you play the more the grind remains the same and the more time you waste chasing nothing of any importance.
it's like pulling on a piece of string with no end to it.
@tomassi just tried HWU myself, glad I didn't buy it back in the day as pretty underwhelmed. even if you ignore the crass 'lucky boxes' thing the gameplay is just a bit meh tbh.
i tried it, have uninstalled it. no harm done. superhot is fun though.
It was only last week I was thinking that NMS hadn't had an update for a while...and here we are!
Streamlining the UI and game systems probably the best update they could do - it's not like there isn't enough content in the game, but it's all got a bit messy fitting it all together.
Probably won't play much though...I've done my time with NMS and enjoyed it for what it is.
I loved all this stuff on the earlier generation machines and going back much earlier than that even (hello 80's) but now, with so much tied to online such as patches, firmwares, PSN accounts, sub services etc it's pretty pointless even if it did work on newer firmwares.
I suppose if you got a brand new machine and used it just for this there is a narrow use case there, but nah, not for me anymore this scene. I still do ok getting all my TV, films, music and software for nowt anyway.
@Smiffy01 loving my indie games. as well as being a case of simply enjoying them a lot than AAA quite often, it also comes down to pricing. I don't buy many games at all now, especially post Extra, but I'm far more likely to drop fifteen or twenty quid for a decent indie than spending three times that for AAA
despite being very hyped before launch, I found the game to be simply middling to good and unlikely to be played again or even remembered particularly fondly compared to others.
glad it came straight to Extra though, perfect type of game for it.
Not really my thing, but thanks to torrents I don't have to bother about subs to any of the streaming platforms so I'll grab this later and see what its like.
@KaijuKaiser @Milktastrophe yep. there's little worse than someone who insists that different points of view are simply 'wrong' if they differ from their own.
@Flaming_Kaiser you obviously haven't looked at the prices on the Turkey PSN store. Even day one digital there makes physical look laughably overpriced
@Stocksy Yep, too many man baby basement dwellers here and in the games media live so far away from the real world it's not even funny. Er guys, hacker released some files from a videogame, not anthrax.
@pumpkin_head that's my thinking now too. Even if there's a new game I really like, there's plenty of other stuff to play on Extra in lieu of it rather than pay full price (or any price, in fact). And get a better version than those early payers too when it reaches Extra.
There'll be the odd exception, but for me now, gaming has never been cheaper. Well, it has, but that's when I was out on the high seas in earlier gens.
@F1Fan Agree entirely. I feel a 7 would have been generous, and a 6 the very most it deserves.
I suspect Frontier had little choice but to release it when they did due to their contract with FIA, not that it excuses the state of the game after how long it has been in development.
@bozz I'm a little annoyed at myself really, I almost always wait a few months before buying anything and then of course I'd have read all the stuff on Reddit and elsewhere and avoided. They got me as it combined two of my loves - F1, and management games. And PS5, so no refunds here for me unlike the fortunate PC players!
I hate to say it, but a lot of the media reviews were clearly written with either a few hours of play only, or (more likely), by reviewers who simply don't understand a lot of the intricacies of F1. Although I think almost anyone would discover the inherent problems in this game with a sustained period of play, F1 fan or not.
@bozz haha great minds think alike - you beat me to it by a minute, but same thoughts exactly and I'm glad it's not just me that felt an alternative viewpoint needed to be put forward.
Big fan of F1 and management games so of course I bought this - a rare day one purchase for me. Even rarer now with PS Extra. Kinda wish I hadn't
It appears to be amazing at first, let's be clear about that. However, within a couple of races things will begin to annoy and frustrate you.
You'll start skipping the practice sessions because they take too long but then get annoyed because your driver confidence and set-up isn't perfect because you haven't played the silly minigame with moving bars. You'll start simulating quali for same reason. You'll go from watching large parts of the race to running them all at 16x and still thinking it's taking too long. Tyre wear doesn't work correctly. Neither does fuel mode. Neither do the safety car rules (like in real F1 eh, Lewis). Drivers on out or in laps during quali don't move off line so can wreck your laps even if you do try to manage the sessions manually. Signing drivers recruits them immediately, no option for them to start for the next season. There are weird issues (exploits, really) regarding car design which I won't go into here.
For me, it all became a great faff without enough reward. And the old Motorsport Manager game never felt like that, which is very odd.
I wished for a new F1 management game for years. Be careful what you wish for. Game deleted off console already. Hope this counterpoint comment at least gives potential buyers pause for thought.
@Ooccoo_Jr Exactly this. Before Extra, I'd probably have bought Death's Door and The Ascent at these prices but now, nah.
In fact, the couple of games I have bought recently, I haven't enjoyed any more than the ones I've dipped into on Extra (of which there are many many more I have yet to play)....so what's the point. Either wait for these to hit Extra, or just play other stuff on it anyway.
Extra is killing both my desire to buy new games, and my FOMO for sales. Especially when games like Spiritfarer and Chicory are added - games I bought in sales and haven't even got round to playing. Which kinda sucks all ways! Never again now though.

Re: Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Enhanced Edition (PS4) - A Roleplaying Renaissance
Great, in-depth review. It looks and sounds amazing, but then so do a lot of games that I end up finding too complex and obtuse for me.
How does it compare with Pathfinder: Kingmaker, which is on PS+ Extra?

Re: Mini Review: Let's Build A Zoo (PS5) - An Absorbing and Quirky Tycoon
@Titntin likewise, although since it's gone onto gamepass day one it may well find its way onto Extra in a few months.
If you want to buy, best to spend a little more and get it with the dino zoo add-on because it'll only be the base version if it comes to Extra.
Re: Mini Review: Let's Build A Zoo (PS5) - An Absorbing and Quirky Tycoon
@AnnetteM that's good to hear! did you get the base game or the one with the dinosaur zoo add-on?

I'm very interested in this....I think with the inevitable post-launch flurry of patches, this'll be really good in a month or so.

@NEStalgia same here, although I switched to a 360 because the disc drive firmware was hacked (c4eva, wherever you are, thank you)

Nah. Put that money towards more Extra and play loads of (better) games. And it's doubtless where this pile will end up in short notice anyway.
