Re: This Could Be the First PS5 Compatible SSD

Haruki_NLI

Didn't know it was called a Solid State Drive Hard Drive, given those are two different things 🤣

But man, that's expensive. Hopefully, God willing, this drives down prices in the same way the Switch encouraged higher MicroSD storage sizes and drove prices down.

But it is weird for having such a seemingly proprietary drive, Sony isn't using proprietary storage given the inevitable confusion it'll cause trying to match a third party drive to work with a proprietary one.

Bit given their history with storage mediums...probably best not.

Re: Sony Reiterates Ongoing Commitment to PS4, Like All Other PlayStation Consoles

Haruki_NLI

"We have always said that we believe in generations. We believe that when you go to all the trouble of creating a next-gen console, that it should include features and benefits that the previous generation does not include. And that, in our view, people should make games that can make the most of those features,” he said. “We do believe in generations, and whether it’s the DualSense controller, whether it’s the 3D audio, whether it’s the multiple ways that the SSD can be used... we are thinking that it is time to give the PlayStation community something new, something different, that can really only be enjoyed on PS5.”

And on PS4.

Re: PS5 Moneyhat Speculation Rumbles On

Haruki_NLI

Here's the thing though, do they need to?

I mean you look at what happened when Xbox got timed exclusives. Where did they sell best in the end? Not on the Xbox.

So as far as Xbox is concerned, unless this is an anti Game Pass measure, it's probably more a waste of money than anything.

Re: Talking Point: Will You Be Buying Ghost of Tsushima?

Haruki_NLI

As only the 2nd PS4 exclusive game I've cared about (I dont care about Spider-Man, never had an attachment to God of War, Horizon came out at a bad time, and I havent been interested in Naughty Dog's work post-PS2, sue me), of course I'm buying it.

I need to justify having a PS4 Pro in some way other than DOOM Eternal.

Only gripe I'd say is colour blind modes please because blimey....some of those areas lose detail, I can tell there should be foliage and such but wow, the way its lit or something isn't doing me favours. Could also be stream compression, have to see.

Oh, and the ground looks remarkably shiny a lot, as if its been rained on, which makes sense, just an aesthetic thing I'm not big on in games for some reason. It always looks a bit less natural than it should, but maybe next generation will fix that.

Aside from one usability issue that will hopefully be addressed, and a gripe I have because it just doesn't sit with me, yeah I'm sold. Love the combat, its slower pace, and the wide world and how you are guided is creative and rewards observation.

Again, just hope I can observe clearly.

Re: EGX Rezzed 2020 Cancelled As Coronavirus Situation Continues

Haruki_NLI

@Rudy_Manchego Its going to be weird not going to EGX myself for once, but thats more a choice on my job position changing since last time, and September being good ol' seasonal setup.

I imagine that by September the ExCel wont be a hospital, at the same time, even though they are barely being used, these emergency stations aren't going to go away quickly, just in case. Better to have and not need after all.

Re: Fans Are Hopeful DualSense's D-Pad Has Been Inspired by PS Vita

Haruki_NLI

@JohnnyBastos Actually in 2020 the only things still using micro are two of the three home consoles, and a few odd gadgets.

Phones, Switch, and even computers now use USB C almost exclusively.

So if anything, gaming has yet to catch up.

Though as you say, US -C could be a marketing point...but so are simply replaceable batteries.

Re: PS5 Controller Revealed, Named DualSense with Create Button and Built-in Microphone

Haruki_NLI

Gonna say, not a fan of the touchpad being back and the lightbar somehow being more useless and battery draining.

But the downside for me is the shape. It looks like its too wide for me to hold and get my admittedly knackered right thumb to reach over for Square or the stick.

Have to wait until I hold one to be sure, but this seems to fall into the same trap the Xbox controllers have - I just cant hold the things with my injury.

Re: PlatinumGames Has a Fifth Reveal in the Works Following April Fools Gag

Haruki_NLI

I think for the sanity if the internet it WANTS to be Bayonetta 3 at this point. Kamiya keeps saying it's going fine and much like SMTV, the game doesn't exist beyond that for three years now.

If it's anything OTHER than that, then how many things have these maniacs been doing at once? Babylons Fall, Astral Chain, Wonderful 101, the Bayonetta remasters in 2018 on Switch, Bayonetta 3, Project GG....and that's just what's come out in the past 3 years.

Re: The Last of Us 2 Delayed Again Due to Coronavirus Epidemic

Haruki_NLI

I wonder if the developers got told about the delay before the reason and had immediate anxiety about more crunch.

Also remarkable, that the game is delayed purely for profitability reasons, rather than the stated "Everyone at once."

Can't convince me.

And hey, Ghost of Tsushima is next. Now THAT is a game that is never coming out.

Re: Little Town Hero Western PS4 Release Confirmed for June

Haruki_NLI

@nessisonett GameFreak actually made a game earlier in the generation, that had nothing to do with ANY Nintendo system.

No one cared or really heard about it though. Tembo the Badass Elephant.

Yes really.

In fact, GameFreak's "Gear Projects" as they call them, are not only done by what they consider their main team (Really), and is used as training for Pokemon and new directors, but also often has nothing at all to do with Nintendo systems.

Re: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Latest PS4 Patch Is a Ludicrous 51GB in Size

Haruki_NLI

@BrintaPap What concerns me more is we see the base file size of games with actual 4K Assets on PC and my god, you can get 4, generously, on a 1TB drive.

Given the PS5 is using custom SSD tech to both improve games and act as storage, that wont be cheap to implement, meaning 2TBs may be generous. That wont last long.

But then add on the fact that the SSD seems required for games to run on the newer systems, you lose out on external HDD support. So then you need external SSDs, which can be rather costly. Or god forbid....custom proprietary ones.

I hope not, but I just got a 4TB HDD for my PS4 Pro and its already lost 500GB to formatting....somehow....and then a further 1.2TB for a mere 40 games. Mostly indies.

Space is a premium, but sadly developers wont see it that way.

Re: No Plans for PS5 Port of The Division 2, Says Dev

Haruki_NLI

Well I mean, would third party PS4 games run better on PS5?

Only if the game as is coded runs with say, a DRS in place.

Otherwise they have to patch specifically for the new spec rather than letting what is already there be impacted by the new hardware, via dynamic systems.

So I expect a lot of games will just run as is on PS4 Pro specifications.

Re: PlatinumGames Wants $500,000 for The Wonderful 101 on PS4

Haruki_NLI

@Agramonte Less that a publisher told them no, and more "We want to do it but not exclusively to one platform." So they let the IP go. Hardly like they were using it.

Plus said publisher is probably very much in their good books given they funded some stuff when other publishers and platform holders said no.

Re: PlatinumGames Wants $500,000 for The Wonderful 101 on PS4

Haruki_NLI

@m8e3point1415 Well to start, according to Kamiya, they spoke to the IP Owner, Nintendo, and they said you either do this game only on Switch with us, or you can do it yourselves.

Seems like part of that investment was buying the rights to Wonderful 101, which they've stated they want to do for all their IP. Probably means they'll buy Astral Chain from Nintendo and Bayonetta from SEGA.
