@AlexStinton

I never suggested that you didn't put effort and research into reviewing a game. They're your words, not mine. I did suggest that you didn't understand the gameplay mechanics, and therefore you gave a summary that was misleading. Based upon your reply above, I still maintain that.

If it's that 'bobbins', then why I have I been playing, in coop, every night, since it launched? It's one of the best squad/team based, tactical shooters that I've played in a long while. Have you ever played the board game or book that it's based upon? The reason why I ask (and it's not a necessary requirement, I'm just attempting to emphasise the gravity of it), is because if you had, then you'd appreciate the importance of sealing doors and how that is also modelled within the game, for both on and offline play.

However, each to their own, if you don't like it, then nothing I say here will change your mind.

I know what you mean. I also think it depends on who's doing the review. Sometimes, the reviews here, on PushSquare, are quite balanced and informative, whilst at other times, they can be quite poor and misleading. A recent example of this, for me, was the review of Space Hulk Deathwing. https://www.pushsquare.com/reviews/ps4/space_hulk_deathwing
In the article, the reviewer described the game as a series of tiresome battles of attrition. He also mentioned that sealing doors had little effect.

I can imagine that he was simply closing the doors (which can then be re-opened by the enemy), and not permanently sealing them, as I've seen novice players do the same thing, when playing online with them, forcing myself to go over to the door and seal it, after they've simply closed it and then walked away. When I read the bit about doors, I knew that the reviewer didn't have a clue about the game, as sealing doors, in the title, is one of the cornerstones of the gameplay, and it has a massive effect. If that's not done properly, then the enemy will swarm you, hence his comment about battles of attrition.

An informative review.

I like my arcade racers to have a cockpit view. I'm not the greatest fan of third person, it's too Mario Kartish for me. That, and the level of content, mentioned in this review, means that it goes on my 'May buy it, when it's on sale' list.

Dude! I think that you'll find that the PSVR isn't 'Full HD resolution', but in-fact 960x1080p per eye. However, it's not the display, rather (when it comes to games), it's the software which drives the resolution even lower, in-order to facilitate the required frames per second that is needed for VR's twin displays. However, the software's low resolution is a direct consequence of the under-powered engine which drives the system, i.e. The PS4 or Pro models.

If PSVR YouTube VR videos are anything to go by, then watching Football will be a blurry mess. Let's hope that the BBC has hit upon a more efficient way of encoding the data.

As for missing out on anything, I don't think that applies to me, as I've owned a PSVR for quite a while now. I bought the novelty edition, which let's friends and family try it, out of VR curiosity, but only has around half a dozen decent games (out of the 40+ PSVR titles, which I own)... Oh hang on, now that I think about it, it's the standard edition which I bought.

Don't get me wrong, I think that PSVR is great, but I think that realistic honesty is better.

I've been playing this for three days now, both solo and coop. For me, it captures the spirit of the Warhammer 40,000 universe extremely well. The graphics are also really nice.

As for the gameplay, I don't find it at all to be repetitive, but instead, an accurate portrayal of Terminators against Tyranids, as seen and depicted within the WH40K books. In that respect, the game does, very much, what it says on the tin.

If the title played differently, then I don't think that I would like it as much. In-fact, Gav Thorpe, one of the WH40K authors, whose titles include Space Hulk: The Novel, was an advisor on the game design. Also, the reference to sealing doors having little impact, made me go 'Uhh?', when I read that. Sealing doors is integral to mission success. It's no wonder that you've described the title as, 'tiresome battles of attrition', if you haven't fully grasped or understood the underlying gameplay mechanics.

Personally, I'd give it an 8 out of 10. However, it's definitely not the type of game for people who prefer Rainbows and Unicorns in their titles.

"Heralds of the coming doom, by cry of Raven we are drawn. This oath of war and vengeance, on blade of exalted iron sworn. With blood anointed swords aloft, advance we, into dreads dark shade. Punishment divine unleashed with hate, a wrathful storm of bolt and blade. Purge with plasma, fist and shell, bring cleansing fire's righteous breath. For the Emperor, knights of Caliban. The Lion's appointed angels of death. No forgiveness, no retreat."
~ Dark Angels: Deathwing Company - Battle hymn of vengeance.

Played a bit of Killing Floor the other day. It looks good and using the Moves for smooth/loco was ok, in as far as using the Moves ever can be. I was also happily surprised to see that it had a sitting option to select. I bought this on impulse, as I'd only intended to buy one game this month, namely; Space Hulk Deathwing Enhanced Edition. However, along with Killing Floor, I'm already up to three and I still haven't purchased (pre-ordered) the above yet. Hooray for impulse buying.

Re: Review: Time Carnage (PS4)

Good review, especially the conclusion. I have over 40 PSVR titles and I'd have to honestly say, that around 90% of them are utter trash (the novelty factor and a desire to try anything was responsible for these purchases). Your use of the word 'gimmick' pretty much sums up that 90%, which I referred to. I keep telling myself, that in the future, I'll only buy quality VR titles, e.g. Res 7, Skyrim, etc.

I downloaded it and gave it a try, yesterday. The first monster that you meet, after getting off the medical table, was as far as I got. Even that killed me, lol, and I couldn't be arsed with trying again. After that, I turned if off and then deleted it. It's just not worth the effort for me. I felt the sameway about the Souls games.

I'm not a fan of the 'cuteness' factor in games. I'm the type that secretly smiles to myself, when a character in Tethered throws themselves off a cliff, or looks for a gun to shoot that annoying baby dinosaur, in Robinson, which keeps following me around.

Yeah the physical aspect appeals to me, as I've often thought about joining a Gym. However, thinking about it, was as far as I've ever got.

@AFCC
For people that played Bungie's ODST Firefight mode on the 360, you can see that the core gameplay and AI of Destiny, is just the samething, except it's now played on larger battlefields with loot boxes. It wasn't great in ODST Firefight mode either.

Is a review of Ultrawings (out today) forthcoming?

The reason that I ask, is because I didn't see any mention of it, in the recent article concerning December's store update.

First of all, I'm not the person who raised the subject of feelings and a connection between pets. Perhaps a more mature approach to adopt, would be one that's sure of your facts before throwing around insults?

I made two references to age; My first post that mentions nine year olds (I included that as I view the title as primarily aimed at children), and in my second post, I made a reference to 1981 (to emphasise that I have seen similar games over the years). At no point did I introduce the subject of pets, feelings or anything else that your imagination has conjured up.

P.S. Your post (and username) also says a lot about you.
