Re: Feature: What Not to Expect at E3 2019

Hengist

There's only one thing that I'm interested in, when it comes to E3, and that's reports about HALO Reach for PC.
I can't wait for September to happen. That's a bit dramatic. Of course I can wait.

Re: Poll: Are You Hyped for E3 2019 Yet?

Hengist

@get2sammyb
I can can completely understand your stance. Personally, I've never been fussed about E3. Generally, my industry contacts have already informed me about the planned agenda content, before it's
reported in the media. Myself and the others, which I've mentioned, all consider it as nothing more than an annual marketing exercise.

Re: A New Ghost Recon Game Is Probably Being Announced This Week

Hengist

@Cutmastavictory When I first played the demo for Wildlands, myself and online friends, all hated it. I wasn't going to buy it. Then I bought the release version in a sale. I played through the whole campaign, with a mate in coop, and I really enjoyed it. So I definitely agree with you, that it's a good game. I'm currently re-playing Future Soldier on PC, and enjoying that too (despite the magic Frodo invisibility cloaks), however, my mind still drifts back to Wildlands and doing stuff like this...

Re: Days Gone - Open World Comfort Food with a Survival Horror Spin

Hengist

I've only read as far as... 'Days Gone doesn’t quite have the character of a Game of the Year contender like God of War'. This has now got me interested in a game, which beforehand, I'd dismissed.

I'm looking forward to reading more of the review, for more positive reasons to consider purchasing.

*Edit: 10 mins later, and I've read the rest of the review. It sounds (reads) like a bag of predictable boring poo and I won't be buying. Thanks for the review, and for helping me to make an informed decision. Much appreciated.

Re: PS5 Will Innovate How Game Audio Is Processed

Hengist

I must be an audible barbarian, as every time I use PSVR, I don't bother with headphones, and instead, I just play it through my regular sound system. I know that I'm missing out on spatial sound effects, but clamping my head with headphones, in addition to the headset, isn't worth the trade-off for me. This new PS5 feature sounds cool, if it will work through my regular sound system.

Re: Soapbox: One Year Later and God of War's Overall Quality Still Blows My Mind

Hengist

Hey, that's your right to disagree with opinions on FF7

Personally, I've always liked games, where they kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. By that, I mean games that are fun, and at the same time, educational. It's very satisfying to learn about Napoleon's; La Grande Batterie, whilst enjoying yourself

This is the second time I have had to remove a personal link in your comments. Next time I, catch one you will receive a temp ban for spamming. Thanks for understanding -Tasuki-

Re: Talking Point: Should All Games Have an Easy Mode?

Hengist

The more difficulty levels the better. I, often, will start a game on easy, in-order to learn the rules/game mechanics, etc. Once I have achieved this aim, I then return to the difficulty level. Am I finding it too easy? if so, then I restart the game on a higher difficulty level, if not, then I carry on with the current difficulty. Once finished, if I want to replay the game, then I have the choice of ramping up the difficulty to aid replayability.

The only exception to this, are simulation based games, where I will adjust all the settings to be as realistic as possible, as the reason why I buy these types of games, is to simulate an experience.

Re: Poll: Have You Bought The Division 2?

Hengist

I played D1, for quite a while, I even bought the season pass, but by the time all the DLC was released, I'd stopped playing it. It was too 'bullet sponge desticle' for my tastes. I no longer have any interest in playing these types of games, so I won't be buying D2.

*Edit: Thinks about the self-irony, as he considers playing Borderlands.

Re: Hands On: Borderlands 2 VR Is Much Better with the PSVR Aim Controller

Hengist

I played for quite a while, the night the patch dropped, and agree that this is what the game needed. It plays a whole lot better than the DS4, although, the DS4 wasn't that bad (as for the stupid Move wands, I did try them, but they're as bad as they've always been, so enough said about those things).

I plan to venture out into the Borderlands, once more, this weekend... If I can curb my megalomaniac, imperial tendencies towards the conquest of 19th century Europe, in Napoleon: Total War.

Re: Poll: Do You Feel Ripped Off by PS Plus' Recent Changes?

Hengist

@mvhess I explained all this in my post. If you're having difficulty with understanding it, then there's not much I can do about that. The essence of my reply, was to point out that the Sony sale/deals aren't that great. However, I suspect that you already knew that that was my intention. If you want to carry on, with a bag over your head, believing that saving 2 quid (or dollars), is the bargain of the century, and justifies your subscription costs, then carry on. It doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Re: Poll: Do You Feel Ripped Off by PS Plus' Recent Changes?

Hengist

@mvhess Try looking around on the Internet?

I just looked at Amazon, which didn't have a sale, and found it for (no doubt a more in-depth search would lower the price)... https://www.amazon.co.uk/UBI-Soft-1025293-Far-Cry/dp/B071Z9DB65/ref=ice_ac_b_dpb_twi_gam_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1551814790&sr=1-1&keywords=far+cry+5

I don't know how much that is, in dollars though. I imagine that it's not that far off. However, even this non-sale, standard price is 50%+ cheaper than Sony's standard pricing, e.g. Far Cry 5 is usually 50 quid. Sony's sales don't really mean that much, when their game purchase costs are so overpriced in the first instance.

Perhaps on the rare occasion, every now and then/once in a blue moon, you may get it for a few quid cheaper, in a Sony sale (e.g. I just looked on PS and they're selling FC5, in their 'sale', for 20 quid), but for me, a rare 2 quid saving doesn't justify the subscription cost of PS+.

Re: Poll: Do You Feel Ripped Off by PS Plus' Recent Changes?

Hengist

My PS+ runs out at the end of the month, I've subscribed since the PS4 launched. I paid in advance, before Sony increased the price. However, I've now disabled the auto-renew and I've got no intention of re-subscribing. The cost just isn't worth it. The PS game discounts are a joke and can be bought cheaper online. The free games are crap, or I already own them, so basically, I'm paying for the privilege to play online. As for my multiplayer fix, I find that I play more on PC, these days, where there's better games and the multiplayer is free.

Re: Where Can You Buy PlayStation Move Controllers for PSVR?

Hengist

@get2sammyb
In my opinion, the Move wands are only useful for titles where you're stationary, and you only move your arms, e.g. Rush of Blood, Archangel, etc.

If the game features walking with the Moves, then they do more harm than good, in terms of immersion. The reason why (for me), is because you'll be constantly dragged out of the game and back into reality, due to the inherent, inaccurate, chunkiness of the button presses, when compared to the precise, accurate movement of the DS4's or Aim's analogue thumb sticks.

Re: Where Can You Buy PlayStation Move Controllers for PSVR?

Hengist

The Move wands are the worst thing which I've ever bought from Sony. I, personally, find that it's strange, that there's a demand for them. Mine are somewhere, in the house, gathering dust. I hate the Move wands with a passion (I call them wands, as I don't think that they have the right to be called controllers), so much so, that I won't buy a PSVR game, anymore, if it's Move wand only.

@Dange There's talk on the PSVR reddit that Gearbox has mentioned (I think the link was to their twit account) that they are looking into implementing Aim support. However, words vs actions, and all that.
