This review is not a factual description of Sudden Strike 4.
"Half the time the units don't respond"
Are you playing the same game as me? In 20hrs+ of gameplay, I have never had this happen.

"The fourth Tank in line suddenly decides it should be first"
The formation is decided by you, upon issuing a move order. In my game they do exactly as they're commanded. I have yet to witness the behaviour that you describe.

5 out of 10? More like 9 out of 10 for a console RTS.
Congratulations on the 22 years mate. Back in 1990, when playing Elite, I was at Uni and aged around 23, using my house mates Beeb. It seemed a better deal than going to lectures (it was unfortunate for the students, though, as I was the lecturer... Only joking about that last bit).
The other night, whilst playing Elite, I was talking with a friend about the impact that sound in games can make. I cited the military lasers in the original Elite as an example, and how great it was upon first hearing them.
However, I suspect the work of 'rose tinted glasses' at play here, because this was 1990 and the sound was coming through a BBC-micro, mono speaker, lol. For whatever reason, though, the incident is still in my mind.
When the, pre-release, demo' first came out, I didn't like the title. Then I picked it up in a sale. Since then I've clocked up 7d 23h 50m in it, and I still haven't, yet, completed the main game.
Sure, the game gets a bad rep' for certain game play aspects, but on the other hand, it doesn't get enough praise for the things that is does do right.
@Octane
Well stated mate. Your usage of the word 'fluff' completely sums up, for me, the so called added value that the service attempts to brings to the table via the sales and the monthly ps+ games. I see it as a means of Sony simply trying to justify the cost of the subscription by including stuff that I don't want or never asked for.
@adf86
You're absolutely correct mate. Nothing written here, regarding what's good or bad about the service, will have any affect. However, I do enjoy a civilised debate about such things.
I wish that they did a discounted fee just for online game access only, without 'trying' to add-on value, like game sale discounts and monthly ps+ games.
My reasoning for this is based on the fact that you can usually find the same item on Amazon at a cheaper price than Sony's sale prices. As for the monthly ps+ games, I can easily live without them, because chances are, if I like a game, then I'll have probably bought it already.
I totally agree with you. In reality, I'll probably end up buying the product (which shall not be named) and purchase a subscription for both platforms.
Thanks for your advice and insight, I see that you have great wisdom in your words. I think that I'm slowly beginning to understand the appropriate level of etiquette, which should be employed and applied here.
Please explain why you percieve my post as 'bait' (as I'm not sure of your definition). Not once have I stated that one system is better than the other. For whatever reason you attach the term 'bait' to my post, I can assure you that it is, on myside, completely unintentional.
I'm too old to be concerned with stuff like 'baiting' (whatever that means), I just post here, as I value the adult discussions.
All those games that you've mentioned, with the exception of GT Sport, I can't stand. So it doesn't really matter if the new AC game is 30fps, as I won't be buying it anyway.
As for the reason 'not being right', could you elaborate, as I find that statement to be somewhat puzzling?
P.S. Thanks for the info' regarding an alternative source for subscription purchases.
Money isn't really the issue for me mate, it's the most powerful machine that matters. If both subscriptions are the same price then the choice boils down to hardware. The availability of exclusive games isn't a factor, as the offerings that I've seen, this gen', haven't interested me one bit. Also, since jumping ship to Sony, I have noticed that they seem very interested in pushing what I would describe as 'kids games'. Again, I'm not interested in colourful, pokemon style, platform jumping games and such stuff. I think my subscription renewal is due this October, but I'm going to hold off renewing, as I consider purchasing the new Xbox X.
Having never been a person who is affected by 'brand loyalty', I jumped ship from the 360 to PS4 & Pro at the start of this gen'. Although an extra tenner, per year, won't break the bank for me, I feel that I've only got room for one subscription in my life for playing games and the new 'to be released' Xbox X is now starting to grab my attention, especially after learning about this price increase by Sony.
Thanks Sammy, for taking the time to post that comprehensive list, it's very much appreciated.
However, how many on that list are currently available (and also, whilst I'm at it, not aimed at a target audience of 10 year olds), as my original post was regarding the reason why I hadn't purchased a psvr unit yet?
P.S. I won't dispute Until Dawn, but classing CoD as a vr title, due to one crappy mission/tech' demonstrator... I may dispute that one.
No not a joke. Please enlighten me with this vast library of cockpit based psvr titles which are 'currently' (not, to be released) available, as I can only think of five (and three and a half of them aren't worth playing, IMO)...
The only thing that has stopped me from buying psvr, is the lack of cockpit based titles. As for its use in other game type formats, I have zero interest.
I don't even bother checking these days. I got bored of going through the ritual of adding them to my library, knowing full well that I'll never download nor ever play any of them.
Also, there''s around 18 days until I can download my pre-order of Sudden Strike 4. That should keep me occupied through August, as I pretend to be Eric von Manstein, on the Ostfront, defending western Europe from the bolshevik hordes, lol.
The game gets a fair bit of neg' criticism for it's take on realism/authenticity (especially when compared to the original title/TC books). However, as I was discussing just the other night, the game doesn't get enough praise for the things that it does do right.

@kyleforrester87
As I mentioned, for a 'console' RTS, (which is rare), I'd give it a 9/10. It's much better than say HALO Wars, IMO. Right? Lol.
My experience with the game play is nothing like the description given in this article.

Nothing on that list is of any interest to me.

You're right, it must be a case of plagiarism, as there can't be another person who thinks the sameway as Sammy does.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 181
This weekend, I have been mostly eating... Sudden Strike 4.
... As I play the role of Erich von Manstein, on the Ostfront, defending western Europe against the Bolshevik menace.

Good article.

Sudden Strike 4 is downloaded and ready to play tomorrow tonight.

No mention of Sudden Strike 4, a title that will be better than anything mentioned on that pitiful list?
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 180

I kinda view the title as, Skyrim with guns.

This weekend, I have been mostly eating... Romance of the three kingdoms.

*Update: After several hours of play, I can report that I am beginning to hate this game & expansion and wish that I hadn't bought them both, lol.
It serves me right for trying to satisfy my strategy cravings, ahead of, and instead of, patiently waiting for my pre-order of Sudden Strike 4.
I'm going to learn by this mistake, via immediately downloading Starhammer: The Vanguard Prophecy.

I don't think it's incredible value. I feel that I'm being charged for stuff I don't want or need. All that I do want, is online game access.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on the PlayStation Plus Price Increase?
@Turniplord
From your post, I completely understand your rationale in favouring digital.
For me, the driving factor when considering a digital purchase, usually concerns the fact that I'm often too lazy to get up and change the disc.

My problem with these 'discounts' is that you can often go on Amazon and find the same item for a quid less than Sony's discount price.

I totally agree with your suggestions mate.

Keep mentioning what, the price of cask beer in Manchester? That's the first time I've mentioned it.
If I have repeated something, then perhaps it's due to repeat articles on the same topic, that invite you to make a comment... Just a thought.
Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on the PlayStation Plus Price Increase?

Bloody hell mate, I'm a Manc' and I've never paid 6 quid for a cask pint. Try Wetherspoons, lol, cask beer is around £2.50p per pint.
Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on the PlayStation Plus Price Increase?

I can think of lots more mate. There's nothing wrong with those type of games, if you enjoy them, it just so happens that I don't.
Re: PlayStation Plus Prices Are Increasing in UK and Europe Next Month

I always had a PC in my life mate. I've been building them since, probably, before you were born.
I know ms games are now available on PC, but these days I tend to use my PC for stuff like spreadsheets and C++ coding.
