300MB is good enough. This is what a day one patch should be. In fact, I wouldn't mind a limit on the size of day one patches to force games to be ready already. 1 GB or so (maybe 2 if needed) would do a lot to ensure games are shipped in a more ready state.
6 games a month and normally having indies day one (which I think we last saw with Deep Rock Galactic, a fantastic idea and addition). You've gotten complacent with Plus compared to old times for years now. Give us 2 VR games a month, 2 PS5 game, 2 PS4 Games, and you'll be giving us comparable value to what I used to pay for.
@Gitface It’s just the first few hours of the game, so it won’t be a spoiler in that sense. It’s just playing the prologue with progress saved. Otherwise, I would have waited too.
@Kidfried They likely existed there, but were less common. They don’t have a history in PoP aesthetics, but I don’t they think wore them forward/diagonal like that. You might argue the haircuts were never meant to be historical. Sure, but there’s a difference between something that’s a bit of artistic liberty and just screams “out of place.”, especially for the IP. Now combine that with the trailer in general not seeming like Prince of Persia, it stacks up. And now I’m hearing this isn’t the Prince, but the prince getting rescued? It just doesn’t feel like a PoP game.
And Warriors Within has tons of negative feedback, showing out of place music is a bad idea. The combat looks decent sure, but where’s the platforming? This looks combat based when it shouldn’t be. I’m not sure it really should be a PoP game. It looks like it’s missing the point. I’d love to be proven otherwise, but this doesn’t seem like the right fit. @Kidfried, or, or, or doesn’t look like a PoP game in the trailer. We all know the prince is Persian. It’s ain’t getting disliked for that. He does have an odd haircut though.
@GamingFan4Lyf Depends on how you define gritty. It was more of a overly satirical American Psycho type of black comedy. All the characters took what was going on seriously, very much so. I've mostly played Twisted Metal 2, but my understanding is that black isn't too far off. It was a deal with the devil type of deal that almost always ended badly for everyone (including those who died in the competition), and sometimes the worst for the person who won and got to ask, Calypso, essentially the devil, for something. Calypso viewed the whole thing as comedic, but only him and in an extremely cruel manner.
The show doesn't seem to even be using the competition format and instead a post apoclpyic that as far as we, know isn't from the tournament destroying the world, but just mad max style or something. This is not following the spirit of Twisted Metal very well. You could very much make a show out of the basic plot. Depending on how you handled the car being destroyed vs killing whoever is inside. You could do multiple seasons, with different winners, maybe it ending with someone killing calypso instead of asking for a wish.
@get2sammyb It’s also because all the did was show a trailer. If the devs came on stage and explained the game a bit, showed it off with specific features, it would have had a lot more excitement. This is presentable, but Sonys forgotten about actually presenting in their presentations.
@Stragen8 Leon had a good campaign that, on higher difficulties, worked well enough for horror in the first half. Remaking it to be like the first half and not the catacombs which don't have enough hordes to be scary is a great idea.
I took the survey, added a few mainlines entire including 6 to remake (this one needs some more remaking, but I love the core ideas), and then all but said put everything in VR by asking for VR versions of lot of Resident Evil games.
@NEStalgia That would be nice, but I actually think the spring controls should be left alone. As a matter of game design, it forces you to focus on running fast as opposed to shooting and whatnot if you're sprinting.
I've added it. This looks great. PSVR2 support looking on the up and up right now if these games pan out.
I hope this allows me to walk around normal people and try to feed without getting caught as opposed to just moving around enemies in stages, but either way I'm on board.
@Magnus_Selene AC isn't a quest exclusive, it's just only currently being developed for Quest. Where does it say AoT is a quest exclusive? (genuine question)
@thefourfoldroot1 Red Matter 2 is a game with no other characters and simpler shapes. It renders what it has very well because it frankly doesn't render much.
I don't want budget VR. And Quest 2 going back to it's old price is a well, boring. I'd also bet Quest 3 is more subsidized than PSVR2 (if PSVR2 is subsidized at all). Granted, that's a fair tactic, but also gives Sony more power to price cut in the future than Meta.
Excellent, ports of older games like this, if this is done well, are a great idea and a great to get more VR games using less resources. I'd love to see the PS3 greats get VR ports.
After an update or two it sounds like a good purchase. PSVR2 seems to have an odd mix of great ports and lacking ports, sometimes from the same Devs, it's rather odd honestly.
It always looked good on PSVR, but I never got it, so I'm glad it's on PSVR2 now.
Also, how responsive is physically ducking compared to clicking to do it.
What's the demo like? Is it a start where you carry over progress? Is it just a stand alone or middle section that doesn't carry over? I'll only play a play the start progress carry over demo.
@themightyant Because Kohima has a very peculiar style that feels more distinct than most Developers. It’s why we know his game but not most other game directors. It’s harder to replicate what he does and the worry is that his vision and style won’t be kept as well as it shouldn’t. The remake could be great, but it’s understandable I think.
@NEStalgia Why does action combat preclude from being an RPG? Maybe I’ve missed something, but won’t this still have stats behind everything? I think that’s a fine change, it doesn’t change it being an RPG, it just changed the way the RPG combat works.
@Paultall You mean like how PSVR1 got supporter for years? We can argue about how much, but it was supported over the years and had nice surprises until about the end.
@MFTWrecks In part because as a presentation, it was bad. It didn’t present the good announcements very well, with much communication for basic details, or with any charisma. Part of a presentation is the presenting itself, not just what you have to present.
@BlueBeemer But why not both? That seems like the best solution. It also ensures many physical sources to rip from. I’m not advocating for a physical only preservation scheme.
@BlueBeemer Depends on the platform. We don’t have a good 360 emulator or OG Xbox emulator last I checked. I think PS3 is better, but not perfect. I agree it helps, but how many of those games aren’t just ripped from the disc too? Being physical hasn’t hampered PS1 games being available online at all.
But it makes PS4 preservation on a simpler level harder.
And legality is a spirit of the law issue (copyrights expire eventually for a reason). If you can reasonably buy a game, it’s wrong to pirate it.
Maybe go back to when we had a MP mode people liked, as the old factions did and other games with SP and MP. I miss that a bit. You don’t see stuff like factions or AC: Brotherhood’s MO anymore. Just part of the package instead of a years long live service model.
@KidRyan How is a full game with it’s own story, mechanics, lore, campaigns, etc like DLC? What is extra about a base game, which VR games are? What is DLC for a VR game then even?
@BlueBeemer It can help, but delisting poses serious challenges to your theory. Digital only can cause a game to require it having been bought or you can never play it again without piracy. While physical means you can always grab a copy.
@Mitsui Core gamers are the people that watch these. Spider Man fans will of course like the Spider-Man trailer afterwards, but for anyone watching it and everyone else, who is the audience for these events, they come away disappointed. The show lacked an ounce of charisma. The MGS announcement alone should have made people happier, but it didn’t because while you figured it was a remake, you you weren’t sure. You figured Resi 4 was the full campaign, but weren’t positive. These are basic communication errors that the show is riddled with. Whoever put it together it not very good at his job. We come to get excited, so basic charisma and communication to push us along helps a lot in that. They had a few announcements that should stuck more but didn’t due to poor presentation skills.
@Mitsui When was the last time one of those had anyone come away very excited and pleased? You can’t please everyone, but you should be pleasing a large portion of your audience. Certainly not less than a fraction of it. It’s clear these aren’t getting even half of the good reception the well done old E3 events got. And considering PS is doing fantastic financially, too expensive doesn’t hold.
What on Earth does a cost of living crisis have to do with this? It’s super cringe, but that sounds look you’re looking to be offended extra when the cringe is already more than strong enough. It’s edgy and makes no sense, but quite frankly, this should just gone with (or at least a more clearly) hinted idea that the Theives are just greedy masquerading people. I’d also just rather go play Hood which is honestly decent fun was something different. It also wasn’t so cringe inducing lol.
It lacks punch. The lack of devs talking about any context to the game or what they are is terrible. Imagine if Sony had kept original show format, Capcom hadn’t announced Dragon’s Dogma 2, then it was announced here with the trailer with gameplay. That would have been exciting and felt line to worth coming to the show for. Just one example of how these events are mishandled ever since E3 died. I keep hearing about how companies need E3, but I don’t think they understand what to do without E3 now. They don’t need E3 to get everyone’s attention, but they do need or in order have enough guidelines have basic competence with showcases.
I wonder what retail did to sales. I got one the moment it became available in Gamestop. This could have been a lot more if Sony hadn’t been trying to reduce and sales and exposure. GameStop didn’t have them on display when I got them, which isn’t good because they would have been hyping it if they had been available for pre-order. It’s a great VR system.
No, this is disrupting tradition far too much. We made it to 16 mainline entires, and we need to keep going! Plus, as mentioned elsewhere, this could cause confusion between mainline entires and side entries too.
@Heavy_Artilery Does the Quest 2 work my PS5 where it's a very simple plug and play experience where it just works very easily and already uses the optimized (for) PS5 I bought that is where I want to do the majority of my VR gaming? Do I get innovative haptics and nicely designed ring controller where I can let go and not have it fall out of my hand? If so, I'm down for a quest, if not, I want a PSVR2 so I can go ahead and use my PS5 without paying an extra $1000 at least to upgrade my graphics card.
This is the greatest killer announcement of all time, and I feel obligated to play this. I can literally run around and kill people as Nicolas Cage. I would so watch Cage do a live stream of him playing this.
Finally. I'm excited for normal PS5 stuff, but more excited for PSVR2. I want to know what's in the pipeline for that in particular. I've got plenty of games to go through right now, but I'm always up for new and exciting stuff. I'd love to hear more flat screen conversions, or heck, even a PSVR2 version of Hitman 3. Flat screen conversions are a great way to get new AAA VR games. Resi 8 is fantastic, and more like it would be so welcome. AAA VR original is good and something for it is cool, but I realize hybrid is more realistic and still exciting as can be. VR Dead Space would be an instant win. More smaller titles will always be welcome too. Heck, older games getting VR conversion would be cool as well. VR infamous, VR uncharted, VR Resistance, VR killzone, etc, all would be so cool to see remade in VR, or made remade flat and in VR to maximize profit. VR needs new games, but can thrive off of old ones like almost no other platform.
@Phornix Plenty of people want VR which is why so many games are coming to PSVR2. Also, Nintendo did do VR with the Labo? There’s even an option ti play BotW in it (not first person, just with it on). It was complicated, sounded kinda terrible, made PSVR1 look like standout VR, and just barley attracted any attention. The fact that you don’t know about while saying Nintendo would do it and best Sony at it says a lot. So no, Nintendo won’t beat Sony at it at all. They might do it again and improve, but they won’t provide a better headset.
@Flaming_Kaiser PSVR2 Metroid Prime with haptic feedback would be incredible. It will never happen, but it would be a better platform for it than Nintendo’s system lol.
I need to beat BotW first, which is a great game. But I just got a PSVR2 a weekish ago since it came to retail, and that’s occupying me instead. It’s such a great VR headset:
