Re: Bungie No Longer Removing Destiny 2 Expansions People Paid For

Milktastrophe

@rawzeku @brazzios_84 yeah it was due to issues with the engine. Previously it couldn't handle running all of the content simultaneously, so in order for some new stuff to run properly they had to remove older stuff. That way it wouldn't need to split the processing power on the servers between the older and new stuff and could just go to the new stuff.

Re: Ubisoft Denies Rumours of Blade Game Based on Marvel Movie

Is the marvel clapperboard even from the same shot or even posted to Instagram or this Twitter guy just added it to make up this rumor? If it's from Instagram, where is the status update like the other two Instagram posts? Also looks strange that the clapperboard photo looks to be much worse quality than the other photos.

Re: Sony Had 'No Involvement' in Death Stranding Deal with PC Game Pass

Milktastrophe

@PupTwilight so what you're saying is it is the same then. Death Stranding is already multiplatform. Fallout 76 was added to PS Now after Microsoft's purchase of Bethesda was finalized, and the deals for anything added before then would've been renewed after the acquisition since PS Now/Extra are not for the rest of time (the standard being 18 months).

Re: Disney & Marvel Games Showcase to Spotlight New and Upcoming PS5, PS4 Releases

@charbtronic the ownership of the Spider-Man IP has been clarified some months back. Sony does indeed own the movie rights to Spider-Man, but Marvel actually does own the video game rights.

The reason Spider-Man is exclusive to PlayStation is because Sony funded the game. Marvel approached both Sony and Microsoft on whether they wanted to fund and make a good Spider-Man game (better than what the quality would be if Marvel funded it), Microsoft passed, but Sony took the offer, so they were allowed to make it exclusive because they paid to make the whole game.

I except Wolverine is a similar deal, Sony is funding the game so they get to make it exclusive.

Re: PS4 Outsold Xbox One by 'More Than Twice as Many' Consoles, It's Claimed

@MaccaMUFC same reason Apple took Epic to court over Fortnite allowing players to make microtransactions outside of the App Store. Sony wouldn't see any money from GamePass since the sign up and payment and everything is done outside of the PSN ecosystem.

Putting it on TVs benefits the TV manufacturer as potential sales over a competition that doesn't have it (until they all do in order to stay competitive). But GamePass isn't going to make people suddenly want to buy a PS5.

@BartoxTharglod I agree there's nothing inherently wrong with quiz games. I used to like You Don't Know Jack but haven't played one in probably over a decade. But I'm not surprised to hear this one is barely put together. At least you can say you tried it (well, if you want to keep admitting that!).

That's cool they had some interesting facts listed, but I guess you might need to fact check the stuff they had. Pigs don't have two necks, just one. It's just big enough that butchers can divide it in two to get two of the same cut of meat. This seems to be a common misconception online though.

Re: Sony Adjusts Default PS Store Sorting Amid Shovelware Backlash

@ATaco True. if anything I'm guessing the click through rate went into the toilet after these garbage games started gaining prominence, which gave Sony a justification to replace the new releases section with a best selling section. Give people quick access to something they're actually clicking on.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's the actual reason for the change, Sony saw people aren't buying that crap compared to when it showed real games, not that they're responding to complaints about the existence of this crap. After all, they have even announced about trying to get engagement numbers back to peak COVID or something or other.

Some ideas for actual fixes to the problem:

  • don't list non-crossbuy games are 2 separate games in the store, have it called out in the games listing. This'll cut out almost 50% of the existing spam.
  • add restrictions for different regions of the same game having different trophy lists. This will remove almost 75% of the revenue for many of these spam games, greatly reducing the incentive to make a spam game.
  • just straight up ban any dev whose made a copy paste garbageware game. This'll get rid of almost every garbageware dev (maybe all of them actually).
