@gaston interesting post but imho pretty out of touch about exclusives. Sony is (and for a good reason) still perceived as the publisher with the best exclusive and just recently Final Fantasy 16 and Spider-Man 2 are really big hitters for different audiences. This kind of games drive sales, no matter how some enlightened Xbox fans try to spin it.

The most anticipated game of 2024? FFVII rebirth, another PlayStation exclusive…

I just finished the story of Valhallla and wow were we treated to some meaty free dlc here! I will keep playing to get all the trophies and extra story bits

I’m a bit torn in this one, as while it didn’t necessarily end up being my favorite modern FF, I enjoyed 16 and I was surprised of how much I enjoyed playing through the echoes of the fallen dlc…I wouldn’t mind a couple more side stories in Valistea but I’m also curious to find out what’s next for the series.

Very good read and darn, can’t wait to experiment with the game.

I am absolutely loving it and yes, it seems that rare story driven, big budget roguelike experience we had with Returnal (🫶🏻) but fairly easier.

I just got past the first couple of bosses and the story bits are intriguing 🧐

Actually played a bit this year getting actual vacation time from work! 637 hours of play.

@BIG3 have you tried the ranked league tournaments? You will fight (if you don’t get disconnected - that is annoying!) someone of about your same skill. There is one tomorrow if you want to join. You can join only specific tier with characters you have in that tier. So you can join silver with a silver ranked character and gold with a gold ranked one etc.

Yay, one more reason to play it! I just got the platinum in Street Fighter 6 and this will be a short but sweet diversion from all those online matches

Wow the title art is great!
I finished it today and agree with everything.
It is short but it fleshes out the “fallen” lore, gives you nice equipment and lets you enjoy the combat, visuals, and characters once again (not you Jill, your meek, cardboard-presence is as useless as ever )
Very enjoyable, I was honestly sad I couldn’t hop on the next adventure right away and I had to part ways with Clive once again. It’s like that good book you just want some more of.

@AndyKazama I was in a similar state and got to level 100 in the expansion. The enemies scale a little bit in this game so you’ll be fighting level 90+ enemies.

@Mikey856 yes, that one is for clearing the game on FF mode, this one requires you to beat the final boss of the new area but only on final fantasy mode (wouldn’t pop after beating the boss on normal)

@Mikey856 yes, 6 new trophies (one specific to playing the game on final fantasy mode) - got them all just playing through the DLC. It’s short and sweet and gives you some nice equipment

@Jaz007 playing it right now - it starts with a mission you can take at Charon’s shop once you have Origin on the world map. Very easy to pick up. Having a blast, though this is obviously DLC it fits well in the lore.

I feel it has been pretty sweet! I didn’t get to see what I was expecting to see (Stellar Blade and Death Stranding 2) but so many nice surprises like the SEGA trail (that was deserving of a show of its own) and the shadow drops and really a couple of new games on my impossible list for next year

Darn, I have finished the second playthrough like 36 hours ago! 😂 was midway through FF1 pixel remaster but I guess I can finish it pretty quickly

Both Jet Set Radio and Shinobi’s snippets looked absolutely gorgeous! Excited.

I hope there’s some Valkyria Chronicles on the horizon as well, though the absolute dream would be a new single player Phantasy Star 💫

And it is out in the fall like a good boy 😊 the February/March nonsense is bumming me out.

@themcnoisy I am loving SF6, currently in Diamnond with Chun and Platinum with Marisa but most of the time I am just goofing around with all the characters so I doubt I’ll get much better before Tekken 8 😅

Serious font/colour problem there with the logo, it really conjures up anything but a fantasy vibe

I just watched a little bit and it’s looking good, though PS5 is spoiling us and this looks kinda graphically dated by now, will be probably playing day 1 if the reviews are positive!

But this, Persona 3 Reload, FFVII Rebirth…it’s all a warm up before Dragon Dogma 2 kidding! I look forward to SOMEHOW play all of them.

The biggest problem imho is that you can’t buy exactly the amount of Fight Coin you need. And this is by design.

These are all very well made and nice but for me it’s a pass as I have 250 FC and there is no way for me to top up the 50 I would need to get one costume for my character 😩

I would even throw 20-25€ at a bundle with all the costumes since the quality is so high but these prices are insane! This needs to stop across many many publishers

Honestly, the much maligned SFV did things better with fight money you could earn and direct purchases from the PSStore

I actually play arcade mode from time to time to beat my score and I have a blast with it. The game really plays better as DMC or Bayonetta than as an action-adventure.

@Deityjester I don’t think Microsoft is going to get out of console business easily, but if their trajectory stays the way it is, they basically have to. And I think Sony would eventually allow GP on their system at that point. Another way would be just publishing on PlayStation as well.

But either way (Microsoft publishing on PS or Sony allowing GP on PlayStation) Xbox consoles would become even more redundant than they appear to be at the moment to the general public.

Awaiting Push Square’s review, as I know it will be fair! I am in the market for these but yeah air buds can be tricky. I absolutely despise the commands on the Pulse Headphones though the audio output is pretty legit.

I think a watered down version of Game Pass, offering first party games only, would be welcome by Sony if Xbox pulled out of the console market altogether, and let’s face it: at this rate they are eventually going to do that.

While it clearly makes sense, it feels like something was lost! As many commenters, I still need that new (or very old) game or board game under the Christmas tree to feel like it’s the holidays. My husband is wise enough to know it and actually never fails to choose something right.
