Re: Random: Hideo Kojima's Chronic Back Pain Symptom of Carrying Video Game Industry, Fans Say

PuppetMaster

@Fiendish-Beaver Ah sorry i missed out the remake part but i get what you mean right now.

Well MGS 1 remake was scored lower than the original game and it was supervised closely by Kojima.
https://www.metacritic.com/game/metal-gear-solid-the-twin-snakes/critic-reviews/?platform=gamecube

I don't know if MGS Delta will get lower scores than the original game though. But if Delta has good QoL and improved gameplay, i think it will get a good score from reviewers at least close to the original game.

Re: Random: Hideo Kojima's Chronic Back Pain Symptom of Carrying Video Game Industry, Fans Say

PuppetMaster

Kinda funny to see some people in here took the "Kojima carried the gaming industry" comment seriously, which i'm sure those Kojima fans was just joking / trolling around with that statement.

But Back Hurtman and Kojima carried aside, Kojima needs to be careful with his health since he's not young anymore. I've seen some mangaka who got serious back pain and it forced them to delay their manga year after year, like Hunter x Hunter author.

@Fiendish-Beaver "My only fear there is that too many of the professional reviewers will see this (or Kojima) as some sort of sacred cow that cannot be criticised"

I never see any Kojima games who never get criticised by professional reviewers. You can check yourself if Death Stranding 1 got perfect praise by every single professional reviewers. Even the ones who gave good scores still explain the game flaws.
https://www.metacritic.com/game/death-stranding/critic-reviews/?platform=playstation-4

Even Zone of the Enders 1 & 2 and Boktai got criticised despite they are pretty solid fun games.

Re: Mini Review: Kill Knight (PS5) - An Unrelenting Arcade Nightmare

PuppetMaster

@Yousef- Yeah we got cheaper games but sometimes it's the same price with everyone.

@MFTWrecks Modern reviewers doesn't like when games is linear, shorter, more focus, and has fun gameplay loop. If classic Arcade games like Final Fight, Turtles in Time, Space Harrier, or Golden Axe released today, i bet they will get their score down with the same reason "it's repetitive", "you fight the same enemies", and "the characters actions are limited".

Re: SEGA Has Been Quietly Killing It This Year, Regularly Publishing Bangers

PuppetMaster

@Yousef- You can try Ultimate Showdown on PS4/5. There's still people playing the game but don't expect you will get a quick matchmaking.

I also heard lately there's plenty of people playing VF 3tb on fightcade.

But yeah, i think you will found more people playing SF IV than VF 5. Outside Tekken, i think most 3D fighters are dead or barely alive which is sad. We used to get Soul Calibur, DOA, Bloody Roar, VF, Toshinden etc etc. But now it's just Tekken...

Re: SEGA Has Been Quietly Killing It This Year, Regularly Publishing Bangers

PuppetMaster

Sure they're one of the best publisher for this year. Although, i would give more credit towards Vanillaware and Atlus since they're the ones who made Sega lineup looks a lot more colorful with Unicorn Overlord, Persona, SMT, and Metaphor. Without these games, Sega lineup are just Yakuza IW and Sonic x Shadow.

I'm waiting what Sega can do with their own classic IP. They showed that trailer for new Shinobi, Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Streets of Rage, and Golden Axe. But so far there's no new updates about those games which makes me worried.

Also, i would love for a new Virtua Fighter. It's just weird how Sega remastered VF 5 and it got 8 million downloads or something. But there's no follow up after that?
Meanwhile Capcom, SNK, ArcSys, and Bamco are thriving with their fighting games.

Re: Original Director 'Very Happy' with Bloober Team's Work Remaking Silent Hill 2 on PS5, PC

PuppetMaster

It's cool that the original SH 2 director and artist gave their approval for the remake.

Meanwhile some trolls are attacking the original SH 2 devs by saying Maria got censored
https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2024/10/07/original-silent-hill-2-devs-attacked-trolls-censorship/

I get it there will be "fans" who still not satisfied with the remake. But attacking the original devs because they like the remake is just sad πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Re: Classic PS4 Racer DriveClub Is Now a Decade Old

PuppetMaster

I only played this game a bit from PS+ demo and yeah it looks beautiful. But i had more fun with Motorstorm since i'm bad with racing games.

And i agreed with UltimateOtaku that Evolution should stick with Motorstorm because it looks and plays pretty different compare to other Sony racing games like GT, Wipeout, or Jet Moto.

Re: Random: Internet Trolls Tried to Downgrade Our Silent Hill 2 PS5 Review Score

PuppetMaster

@Fishnpeas I would agreed that the remake train for PS4 games especially for the ones that still looks good needs to be stop.

But remake for a two decade old PS2 game is fair, especially with Silent Hill series has been dead and buried for more than a decade. A good remake could revive the series again and also bring new audiences / young gamers to try one of the best survival horror series.

And there's plenty original IP that worth playing from this generation, such as:

  • Returnal
  • Kunitsu Gami
  • Ultros
  • Ender Lilies
  • Stellar Blade
  • Black Myth Wukong
  • A Space for the Unbound
  • Elden Ring
  • Metaphor ReFantazio
  • It Takes Two
    etc etc

New IP and remake can be exist side by side.

Re: Alien: Isolation Sequel Announced, in Early Development

PuppetMaster

Reading some comments who wants the sequel with much shorter playtime than the 1st game makes me feels weird as if i'm the only one who enjoyed my 14-15 hours with the main campaign (and 2 hours with the DLC). Not even once i feel the game needs to be shorter or boring.

Meanwhile, RE 3 remake got a lot of flak for being short while i finished my 1st playthrough around 6 hours long which was longer than og RE 3 and i enjoyed every second of it.

Re: Until Dawn Movie Wraps As PS5 Remake Releases

PuppetMaster

@Michael2008ish The trope is clearly intentional and i personally quite enjoyed it just like i enjoyed all the trope in horror movies. But at least the twist from psychopathic killer to wendigo is interesting which i never see in horror movies.

Re: PS5 Exclusives Astro Bot, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Lead Golden Joystick Nominations

PuppetMaster

> Golden Joystick Awards 2023 nominations criteria
The game must have been released between November 11, 2023 and October 4, 2024 (when core 2024 voting begins)
> See Metaphor Fantazio in the 'best visual design' nomination when the game will be out in October 11

Why Metaphor got nominated?

And honestly, while Metaphor UI looks stylish and some enemies design looks creepy af but the overall visual looks ok. Heck, i say Kunitsu Gami has better visual and more original design than Metaphor or Hellblade 2.

It's sad how Kunitsu Gami underappreciated / overlooked by many gamers, especially when Capcom finally got out from their comfort zone again to create a new IP that not just looks beautiful but also fun to play. From the making of videos, Capcom really put a lot of effort on making Kunitsu Gami like clothes, music, and making props / miniatures + sfx specificly for the game. Here's the videos if anyone interested to watch:

Oh well...

Re: PS5 Fans Believe Halo Could Make Its PlayStation Debut

PuppetMaster

Is that Master Chief with UE5? If yes then why he looks like an action figure? The model doesn't look natural.

As for the poll, i played & finished Halo: Combat Evolved on PC like eons ago just to see what the fuss about. I personally kinda enjoyed the game but i much prefer other FPS like Doom. So i voted no, Halo isn't my cup of tea.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 549

PuppetMaster

@JonnyAces I pray a speedy recovery for your son πŸ™

@Judal27 You will get more intense moment against the BT's including boss fights and they will be a headache if you not prepare well.

Also, a bit of tips: if you killed a human enemy, you should quickly burn their corpse in the incinerator. If you didn't quickly dispose their bodies in some timeframe, it will blown up and wipeout the entire map and that would be a game over.

@Yousef- Lol there's convenience stores close to my house but they're not 7/11 😁
And yeah, Mega Man 11 sold really well but we still not yet have a new game for 6 years like WTF Capcom

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 549

PuppetMaster

I just finished Mega Man 11 for the 2nd time. I really like this game, especially the story added more layer to Dr Light and Wily characters / relationship. Now, it's been 6 years since this game released but there's no sign of Mega Man 12 from Capcom...sigh.

I'm also juggling between Mega Man Zero 1 and Mega Man 7 from the collection. I bought Zero/ZX and Legacy Collection 2 but i never get the chance to finish at least one game. So this week i'll try to finish both Zero 1 and 7.

Oh and after many many tried, i finally got Platinum trophy for Tengai and Exit Man 🀩. I love both games and reccomended for anyone who wants to have a quick fun.

Re: Atlus Fans Don't Think Xbox's Marketing Is Doing Metaphor: ReFantazio Justice

PuppetMaster

@get2sammyb "It’s the fact that the marketing deal prevents Sony from mentioning the game entirely. Nothing on the PS Blog; no trailers on the PS YouTube; etc"

Actually, Metaphor got showed in this PS ads

Demo trailer

And PS Blog also wrote an article when the pre-order was opened.

Re: Silent Hill 2 (PS5) - The Horror Great Remains So in This Excellent Remake

PuppetMaster

@Uromastryx Yes i know IGN is a joke. They gave 3/10 to God Hand and 5.9/10 to Alien Isolation, both are my favs games and didn't deserve that low score. But i didn't say you or anyone should trust them.

I only put IGN score in here to show the remake received quite well including from joke site like IGN.

@Yousef Konami decision to left gaming industry and rely on pachinko as their main income was really weird. It's like their president got a sudden brain damage or something. But i heard the new president has different motivation. Maybe he's the reason we got all these collections, remaster / remakes, and a couple of new games.

Re: Atlus Fans Don't Think Xbox's Marketing Is Doing Metaphor: ReFantazio Justice

PuppetMaster

@Mr_Schnitzel It's not "Playstation fans" who's complaining but "Atlus fans" which i'm sure many of them also own Nintendo consoles / Nintendo fans. Their complaining is valid because they want to see this new IP sell well.

And it's not a false stigma if JRPG doesn't performed well on Xbox. Many JRPG skipped Xbox because the fanbase who wants to play JRPG is not enough to warrant a port.

Re: Silent Hill 2 (PS5) - The Horror Great Remains So in This Excellent Remake

PuppetMaster

@1UP-HUSKY For Silent Hill, they're already working on multiple projects. After this, we'll probably gonna see either Silent Hill f which is the new mainline game or the spin-off Silent Hill Tonwfall.

But don't put too much hope though. I mean, Castlevania Collections seems they sold quite well but so far there's no sign from Konami to make a new game.

On the other hand, Contra got a new game or reimagine of the 1st game with Contra: Operations Galuga but it's just not that good.

Re: Atlus Fans Don't Think Xbox's Marketing Is Doing Metaphor: ReFantazio Justice

PuppetMaster

"some Atlus fans don't think Microsoft is doing enough to market the game"

For those Atlus fans i just wanna ask:

WTF do you expect from a company who doesn't even bother to market their own 1st party games???

Hellblade 2 released with just a ho-hum launch trailer and tweet. MS didn't bother for offline launch event inviting the fans, no big billboard and big sign at retail showing Senua or whatever from the game, no collabs with Schizofrenia Int. Research or community since one of the game theme is about mental health. Heck the game doesn't have physical release.

Sony did a better marketing for Metaphor by including the game in a very cool ads, which i bet people who watch it will have better impression for Metaphor.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XtrrrGVzSEU

I don't blame Atlus or Sega for taking MS money though. It's just business as usual. But i hope they learn the lesson here...

Re: Crickets as Suicide Squad Endures Another Muted Launch

PuppetMaster

I still can't believe this game directed & written by the same guy who directed Arkham Asylum, City, and Knight. The quality not just like night and day but it's like heaven and hell.

Heck, the graphic looks far inferior compare to Knight which is a PS4 game.

I'm not sure what the hell happened to Rocksteady. But for their next game, if WB didn't closed them, they need a big home run if they want to win back their fans.

Re: First Review Scores for PS5's Metaphor: ReFantazio, Silent Hill 2 Are Glowing

PuppetMaster

@DennisReynolds You mean GoW blatantly copied:

  • Kill Switch cover system
  • RE 4 over the shoulder aiming
  • W40K Space Marine and the guns design

And Space Marine 1 doesn't focus on melee considering there's like 10 guns and 4 melee weapons.

@The_Wailing_Doom I bet there's plenty of people who thinks GoW is very original as if it doesn't copied from anything haha πŸ˜†
