@Northern_munkey I didn't know this site comment section is the official poll that represent all GoW fans voices around the world 😮
Must be tough for PushSquare staff to count millions of comments since GoW series sold around 60+ million copies. But i guess the poll didn't get my voice since i only joined this site last year. Oh well...
I still remember the first time i played the 1st game on PS2 back in 2005. The first stage against the Hydra was jawdropping and i think it still is. Fast forward to the 2018 reboot and it also made my jaw dropped on the floor like a lot.
So here's for another 20 🍻
@Northern_munkey "the majority of the god of war fans disliked the 2018 reboot and ragnarok"
Where's this official poll that showed the majority of GoW fans dislike the 2018 reboot and Ragnarok?
@ashipaw There are games that didn't push agenda and they also good games but they didn't sold well. But there are games that some people claim they pushed agenda like GoW Ragnarok, Spiderman 2, Metaphor, or Baldurs Gate 3 but these games sold well.
So this isn't always black and white like you think.
Sadly, the reality isn't always as simple as that considering there's good games that didn't sold well.
Gravity Rush, Forbidden Siren, Haunting Ground, God Hand, Kunitsu Gami, Tearaway, Puppeteer, Rogue Galaxy, Radiata Stories, Rayman Legend, Vanquish, Folklore, and Jeanne D'Arc are some examples of good games that doesn't get rewarded with good sales 😔
The people who's angry at Santa Monica for not doing Greek Saga re-remaster / remake, these people maybe forgot that the studio is busy working on Cory Barlog game and the next GoW. So i don't think they have another free team that big enough to do re-remaster or remake.
Heck. I'm not surprised if Dark Odyssey DLC was done by a very small team or got helped by Bluepoint since they helped Santa Monica with Ragnarok.
I personally wants Santa Monica just focus on finishing Cory's project and then continue with the next GoW rather than spend their resources for Greek Saga re-remaster or remake.
"They have no respect for their fans who support this saga since it came out.”
These X people have weird logic and beyond obnoxious. Since when didn't remaster old games for 20th anniversary means the devs have no respect for the fans??? 🙄
@GymratAmarillo ikr Valhalla and these DLC's are free but these people somehow claim Santa Monica didn't have respect for GoW fans. Like huh???
@Selogon "It does not make much sense here, however when does romance really get you a tangible gameplay reward?"
In Persona 3-5 for example, your girlfriend will give you an accessories at Valentine day or XMas and that accesories boost your stats in combat. iirc, you will also get some item to decorate your room if you maxed up your relationship with them. But i think there's more gameplay rewards which i forgot if it also apply for non-romance relationship.
Outside Persona, there's RPG like Ar Tonelico and Thousand Arms where romance is integral to the gameplay core and also can affect the story. Thousand Arms for example, your level of intimacy with a girl will determine how powerful a weapon you can forge.
And with Ar Tonelico, there's this gameplay mechanic called "diving" where you dive into a Reyvateil mind / sub-conscious to help them solve their concerns and mental problems. If you succeed then you got a new song magic as well new outfits for that Reyvateil which improved their stats in combat. But to dive deeper, you need to improve the relationship with the Reyvateil like having conversations and such.
For AssCreed, since the series feels like an RPG right now than just an open world stealth game and the option already done for 3 main games, isn't this better if the romance options has some gameplay rewards or integral to the main story and not just for 'i did this side quest just to watch cutscene of main protag locking lips with this NPC"? But that's just me though.
@FullMetalWesker Ok from your explanation, i think i get the better picture of how Ubisoft treated the main story and what direction AC series headed. But thanks for your explantion 🍻
@Selogon Well you and me definitely have different motivation when comes to game design. I personally always care and curious about game design. In this case, i wanna know why Ubisoft designed the romance option like what's the reason behind it and what's the effect to the story and gameplay. Does it add more layer to the main story and gameplay? Does players got in-game rewards for romance a character? Or the romance is just a simple fans service or what @wildcat_kickz said above it's superficial.
But again, this is me and not you. If you think game design as simple as "eh, why not?" and "those who care will enjoy, those who don't can ignore it" then good for you.
@wildcat_kickz Ok so the romance option is pretty much superficial, nothing more nothing less. But i quite agreed with what @Cornpop76 said. Ubisoft thinks this romance option is important that they already implemented it for 3 main games? Then why not just go all in and make it matter? At least give players an in-game reward for doing it.
@breakneck I think your comparison with Grave of the Fireflies is pretty spot on. The movie is excellent (kudos to Studio Ghibli & Isao Takahata) but i only watched it once and all these years i never rewatch it because i know i will cry a lot and feels awful after the end credits shows up 😭
I felt quite the same way with TloU 2. I really like the game but i'm not yet replay it since i finished it back in 2020.
Last AC games that i played was Syndicate and China Chronicles. I enjoyed both games but it feels like the series doesn't have important main story to tell anymore.
I mean, when's this diving up into older era and different country / continent gonna lead to a major story conclusion, like what's the endgame? I remember Desmond has a solid reason to flashback his ancestor lives in order to beat the Templar and some alien race. But after AC 3, it feels like that story plot is just kinda finished and then abandoned? So is there some major story plot that Shadows gonna tell or it's like a filler?
But no, i think i'm not gonna play Shadows. So i hope people who played the game will enjoyed it. Cheers 🍻
@Hoodie718 I think i need to give you an example as the based of why i asked the question.
I used social link or the romance option in Persona 3-5 as an example. I personally didn't enjoyed this option that much because the main story doesn't change with whoever girl / character i choose to date. It feels like a half bake feature and almost purely function as a big fans service, when they also should design the romance to open more route for the main story.
But i can tolerate the flaws because it added more gameplay layer if you deepen your relationship with them. Like your rewards where you can combine higher lvl Persona, the protag and the girlfriend got new skills, or they help you in combat when the protag almost died. That's a good gameplay design because players still got rewarded from romance a character.
Now. What i wanna know is if AssCreed Shadow same gender romance option added more layer to the story and gameplay, at least gameplay. But according to your reply, it seems like it's pure role-playing experiences or i say fans-service and i'm okay with that.
@Hoodie718 Did you read my post carefully? My question isn't why it shouldn't exist or which groups shouldn't be satisfied. But i wanna know if this addition really give an impact to the story and gameplay or it's just a simple checklist to satisfy / appeal to some people / group. Because based on my experiences with Syndicate and China Chronicles, this rainbow romance option doesn't exist but both games are still enjoyable to play.
I'm not mad or refuse about this. I just wanna know if it makes the game better or not.
And i also read this game has cannon story mode that doesn't have same gender romance. Like, why they have two separate mode if they gave more options for some people to decide their own cannon story?
@Voltan Yeah the game is on my wishlist and it looks fun.
@Cry_Zero You're the one who needs to get out from your bubble buddy. Not every big games used Hollywood actors face. Leon RE 2 remake face for example was mocap from a Romanian model name Eduard Badaluta and he's not a Hollywood actor. Or the protag face from the new Onimusha is from a legendary Japanese actor who already passed away.
And you think artist didn't inspired by real people when they created a character? You need to learn more buddy.
@Jimmer-jammer Nex Machina is awesome and it's a shame that it doesn't sold well.
And yeah i know Returnal is the evolution of their arcadey twin stick shooters. But i think it's sad that these days we got less and less devs making simple arcadey twin stick shooters. It feels like the genre gonna extinct 😔
@Cry_Zero This is the first time i see someone complaint about devs using real people faces in their games. I don't know what's your problem but the practice has been existed for decades and they will not stop using real people faces.
Capcom for example, they mocap a lot of real people faces for their games like RE, DMC, MH, or Onimusha and a lot of people loves it.
I wish Housemarque still makes arcade side scroll / top down twin stick shooters like Resogun, Dead Nation, Alienation, Matterfall, or Nex Machina (which i owned all of them).
So i understand why Housemarque decided to stop making small-mid budget arcadey games and fully focus on AAA games. Returnal did well for them and i pray Saros will do the same if not better. I just hope i don't get to see the day where i read the headline that Housemarque got closed down...
@PlayStation_Dawg1994 Is Switch 2 will have GTA 6, Ghost of Yotei, Death Stranding 2, Lost Soul Aside, Doom: The Dark Ages, Ninja Gaiden 4, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, or MGS Delta at launch?
@danzoEX The biggest western influences in Kojima games is his cinematic cutscenes which very well coreograph and looks like a big budget Holywood movies. Outside that, his story and gameplay approach still feel very Japanese.
"he said that Japanese creators should “keep pursuing the things Japanese people like"
The ironic thing from Sakurai statement:
1. Plenty of Japanese devs are still making games that cater to what Japanese people like. But those games are not always resonate to Japanese people despite the game looks and plays exactly like the Japanese wants.
One example; Capcom with Kunitsu Gami. The game has very strong classic Japanese vibes and the uniqueness clearly aimed towards Japanese audiences. But i didn't heard anything about the game sold well among Japanese gamers. Meanwhile the overseas market including western market helped the game sold 500K copies. I wouldn't be surprised if somehow the new Onimusha and Okami 2 don't sell well in Japan.
2. It feels like Sakurai isn't really up to date with the current Japanese gaming market. This days, many Japanese gamers loves western games. They loves playing CoD, Valorant, Minecraft, Fortnite, Overwatch etc. Heck, i used to team up with Japanese players in TloU 1 Faction and Uncharted 4 MP.
And i remember Nagoshi praised Ghost of Tsushima and said Japanese devs should be the one making games like that. So i get it why some Japanese devs want to makes games similar to Western devs and cater to Western market.
Sadly not all good single player games can sold well enough to recoup the cost or even turn profit 😔
Games like Kunitsu Gami, Gravity Rush, Puppeteer, God Hand, and Haunting Ground are some examples of good games that doesn't sold well and overlooked by gaming community. Heck, one of them, God Hand, was a victim of false review by western gaming journalist who doesn't have enough knowledge to review a character action game.
I only watched a few american tv shows back in early-mid 2000s. Outside Smallville, Supernatural, Buffy, Avatar, The Simpsons, Friends, and Spongebob, my knowledge about american tv show are pretty thin. But now i'm interested to check Battlestar Galactica.
I never see any show under the showrunner name. But i hope he learn the source material carefully and don't messed up. I mean, the last thing GoW needs is the franchise got destroyed by a crappy tv show. I don't want GoW ended up like Halo.
@Skeletor85 I don't see anything cringe with the word.
@LifeGirl I'm sure many people remember Tifa outside her sexy design because she's the first playable female character in FF series who used martial arts as her fighting style. Usually always male character who got fighter / monk role. But Tifa broke that tradition.
I'm pretty sure a lot of people remember Lulu because of her 'cold & firm' personality and her role as Yuna 'big sister' who always reminds her about her duty. But Lulu design also unique where she wears a lot of belts and she used a Moogle doll as her weapon.
Cindy on the other hand, i'm not surprise why not many people remember her especially her "mechanic skills" since her role in the game is very small and has very limited appearance. And her design is nothing unique or interesting outside she's a sexy mechanic.
Ubisoft has the right to protect their employee no matter how much you don't like them.
But it is just crazy that some people think "freedom of speech" means they are free to cross the line and above the law with harassing and send death threat to other people that they don't even personally know. You can dislike a product and didn't buy it. But what's the point of harassing people that you don't even know?
I guess those people are the same with people who burned down Tesla cars and damage public / private property. They think "protesting Elon Musk" means they are free to do crime and vandalism without any punishment.
It's also the same with those brainless Just Stop Oil protesters who blocked public road and did damage to many public / private property. They think "freedom of speech" means they can do whatever they want.
sigh...i'm worried with what the society has became lately. They became more and more brutal and think all their actions can't be punish.
@breakneck "But then it is expected given how poor Nomura and his team are at writing characters"
Nomura wasn't FF VII writer nor he has any creative inputs about the writing. That credit was for Kazushige Nojima (og & remake), Yoshinori Kitase (og), and Motomu Toriyama (remake).
And Nomura only involvement with FF VII story was in the og game where he worked together with Hironobu Sakaguchi to create the basic / concept story. Outside that, it was all Nojima & Kitase works.
@MrMagic Agreed. Bluray would be the one who last more than 50-100 years, especially since it isn't easily scratch like CD or DVD. A lot of my PS3 and PS4 games are over a decade old and they didn't show any sign of disc rot.
She's a complete package. A beauty, hot, nice personality, and she's also badass. In the og and remake, i never get bored every time she's in my party. Her fighting style and special moves are just fun to watch, especially her Limit Breaks.
I only played Blops 1, 3, and 5. But if this new studio can create a game that has Blops 1 quality, which i think the best game in Blops series, then i think they will do well. So good luck to Dark Outlaw Games.
@Keyblade-Dan For Japan, right now i think Sony wants to avoid another Japan Studio. So their focus is to support whatever Team Asobi and Polyphony do. But who knows in the future.
Outside that, it seems Sony prefer to do colabs with 3rd party like Kojima, Konami, From Soft, Capcom etc which currently i think the best way to spend money towards Japanese devs because they already provided PS with popular and good quality games.
If some of SAG AFTRA demands are game residuals, minimum 6 figures salary, as well never hired non-union VA then they can kiss goodbye to those demands.
SAG AFTRA needs to understand that they're not the one who's in control here since they're not the one who's working their ass day and night to developed a game or even own an IP. They can't dictate games company to agreed with their demands.
All my PS1, PS2, and DVD movies are still in great condition. Some defective copies doesn't mean it's happening to all CD and DVD, especially the ones that has been treated with great care.
Heck, i'm more worried with fire accident or flooding than disc rot.
I personally prefer human works but tech advance is inevitable. So sooner or later AI gonna replace human VA. Just like when you see in the factory or restaurant where a lot of human workers got replaced by robots / machine...
I didn't expect that today i see some people complaining about a simple warning, which Konami or any company has every right to inform the contents of their games.
I wonder what's the next thing that people gonna complaint?
I really hate leakers / insiders who spread false info.
Santa Monica never say or promised they gonna re-remaster old GoW games again, not even for 20th anniversary of the series.
They also doesn't have any obligation to release a remaster or a new game to celebrate the franchise anniversary.
But some people got stuck with the leakers false info thinking it must be true and now complaining about free stuff and also feel entitled to get their re-remaster of the old games. They set up themself for dissapointment but blame Sony for not doing what they want 🙄

I never see any show under the showrunner name. But i hope he learn the source material carefully and don't messed up. I mean, the last thing GoW needs is the franchise got destroyed by a crappy tv show. I don't want GoW ended up like Halo.
Re: Tifa's Eternal Appeal Down to More than Just Appearance, Says Tetsuya Nomura
Re: Ubisoft Will Reportedly Fight for Assassin's Creed Shadows, Anti-Harassment Plan in Place
Re: Tifa's Eternal Appeal Down to More than Just Appearance, Says Tetsuya Nomura
Re: Disc Rot Already Afflicts Your Physical Game Collection
@MrMagic Agreed. Bluray would be the one who last more than 50-100 years, especially since it isn't easily scratch like CD or DVD. A lot of my PS3 and PS4 games are over a decade old and they didn't show any sign of disc rot.
Re: Tifa's Eternal Appeal Down to More than Just Appearance, Says Tetsuya Nomura
She's a complete package. A beauty, hot, nice personality, and she's also badass. In the og and remake, i never get bored every time she's in my party. Her fighting style and special moves are just fun to watch, especially her Limit Breaks.
For me, she's FF ultimate waifu along with Yuna.
Re: Next Metro PS5 Game Reworked to Tell Darker Story as Series Turns 15
I finished Metro 2033 and Last Light and i enjoyed both of them. But i'm not yet played Exodus.
Re: A New PlayStation Studio Just Got Confirmed on a Podcast
Re: SAG-AFTRA Still 'Frustratingly Far Apart' from Big Game Studios, Publishers on AI Protections
Re: Disc Rot Already Afflicts Your Physical Game Collection
All my PS1, PS2, and DVD movies are still in great condition. Some defective copies doesn't mean it's happening to all CD and DVD, especially the ones that has been treated with great care.
Heck, i'm more worried with fire accident or flooding than disc rot.
Re: The Day Before Dev Reportedly Sues Website for Calling Game a 'Scam'

Re: Horizon Dev Promises It Isn't Trying to Replace Aloy Actress with AI
I personally prefer human works but tech advance is inevitable. So sooner or later AI gonna replace human VA. Just like when you see in the factory or restaurant where a lot of human workers got replaced by robots / machine...
Re: Silent Hill F's Content Warning Demands a Strong Stomach
I didn't expect that today i see some people complaining about a simple warning, which Konami or any company has every right to inform the contents of their games.
I wonder what's the next thing that people gonna complaint?
Re: God of War Ragnarok Celebrates 20th Anniversary of the Series with Classic God of War 2 Skin, Armor
Re: Final Fantasy Series Surpasses 200 Million Total Sales, Pixel Remasters Reach 5 Million
