Re: Fans Appear to Be Coming Around to PS5 Pro

PuppetMaster

So many arguments between people who don't want a PS5 Pro vs people who wants a PS5 Pro 🤣

I'm personally don't see PS5 Pro for me since i'm okay with stable 30/60 fps-1080p and don't give a F* about 120fps/4K, ray tracing, FSR, and all the mumbo jumbo. Just give me polished and fun games even in 2D sprite and i'll play them.

Like Metaphor demo for example. I've seen some people complaining about the "PS2 jaggies" and i just don't think it's bad enough to detract me from enjoying the demo.

I guess i'm just too old school when comes to graphic. As long as the frame rate is stable even at 30 fps then i'm not gonna complaint.

@CWill97 You can try The Silver Case if you want VN with detective vibe and weird murder case. It's one of Suda 51 early games. And if you like it, there's a sequel The 25th Ward: The Silver Case.

As for adventure games, i think Blacksad: Under the Skin is kinda fun. But i don't know if you're okay with slow pace, janky control, and anthropomorphic characters.

Re: Eve's Body Physics Get a Boost in Surprise Stellar Blade PS5 Patch

PuppetMaster

@TheShallowWorld Are you saying people who enjoyed Stellar Blade will end up as a skirt chasing psychopath who can't separate fiction with reality? If yes then it's you who needs to grow the fvck up.

That's like saying people who enjoyed GTA, Doom, or Mortal Kombat are obsessed with violances and automaticly will end up as a murderer or killer.

Don't blame mental illness on video games.

Playing:

  • Street Fighter 6
I unlocked Pao Pao Cafe stage (it has a cool theme) and tried Terry (he is pretty fun) with drive tickets. I also tried new feature V-Rival which I personally quite like it. But the AI feels kinda easy despite they at Master rank, so i think the feature aim for people who doesn't want to play sweaty ranked match but wants to taste advanced players playing style and got tips to improve their game.
  • Metaphor prologue demo
Played the demo for 5+ hours until Hulkenburg join my party. I really enjoyed it but it feels as if i played a Persona game but with different skin and not a complete new IP. It has Persona or in this game called Archetype with the awakening style very similar to Persona, it has time limits to finish the dungeon / main quest, it has social link, doing some activities move forward the day, and many elements from Persona series. I'm a bit dissapointed because i expect it can offer a very different gameplay experiences compare to Persona series. Oh well...
  • Star Ocean: First Departure R
I'm quite enjoying this game but it doesn't age that well and feels like a low effort remaster compare to Star Ocean: Second Story R.
  • Valkyria Chronicles 4
I lost my save so i'm playing this game again from the beginning. Right now i'm at chapter 2 part 5, liberating Reine.

Have a good week everyone 🙏

@RedRiot193 I think Veilguard doesn't look good. But i'm not a DA fans nor i understand what the majority of DA community wants. So the game could sell well despite all the drama with the character customization.

@Arnna Adding more details with wind physics that interacts with clothes and more dynamic body physics are for creeps now?

Re: Japan Sales Charts: PS5 Continues to Tank in Japan Following Price Increase

PuppetMaster

@Shad361 You forgot that Dead Stranding is a new IP with experimental gameplay that doesn't aim for mainstream audience. You can say it's "mid" despite the big hype but that doesn't change any fact that it sold well and even get a sequel.

DMC and SF are very popular and long running series. With 11 years gap between DMC 4 and 5 and how SF 5 didn't received that well with SF fans, obviously DMC 5 and SF 6 are gonna sold well. So i'm not sure what's your point mentioning DMC and SF here.

And bigger userbase doesn't always translate to higher sales. Switch for example, it has sold 140+ million units but 1st party games like Metroid Dread only sold 3 million copies, not even 3% of total playerbase.

Still, Astro Bot is selling well and also the highest rating full single player game for this year. It's a great achievement for AA budget platformer without Mario in the box art.

Re: Japan Sales Charts: PS5 Continues to Tank in Japan Following Price Increase

PuppetMaster

@Shad361 "where’s the raw numbers to show that? Sony hasn’t said a peep and this is exactly what people said about rebirth."

Most of the times, if Sony announced sales numbers a couple days after X game released, it means that game sold gangbusters and fastly surpassed their expectations, like GoW Ragnarok or Spidey 2. If Sony not yet say anything about Astro sales, that means it doesn't sold gangbusters in a very short time like GoWR or Spidey 2. But that doesn't mean Astro Bot doesn't sold well.

Example. Sony still hasn't say anything about Helldivers 2 sales numbers, not even an official press release. But turns out it sold 12 million copies in 3 months according to Arrowhead CEO.

Sony also hasn't said a peep about Death Stranding sales numbers, which some people thinks it was a big flop back in 2019. But turns out the game is a big success, sold 5 million copies PS4 & PC combine which is enough to recoup the devs cost + brought profit for Kojima to funded his next games.

Astro just came out like two weeks ago and according to Matt Piscatella and Chris Dring the game sold well in the US and UK, better than other Sony platformers like Ratchet Rift Apart in the same timeframe. iirc, Rift Apart sold 1.1 million copies in just one month after released.

So, we can estimates the numbers more accurately with the next NPD report. But i don't expect Sony gonna show Astro Bot numbers until their next financial report.

Re: Don't Give Up on Jin Just Yet, More Ghost of Tsushima Spin-Offs Planned

PuppetMaster

@Mr_B021 The thing is Ghost has potential and can grow into a multimedia franchise considering Tsushima sold really well at 10 million copies and Japan has a lot of interesting history that can be used as a material for a new game or even spin off with anime and manga. Many people also loves it and asking for more. So, what you suggested here for Sucker Punch to just moved on from the IP while they received a high demand for a sequel is not making any sense.

And the key word here is "eventually". But i rarely see any devs who quickly abandon an IP after the first game sold really well. Did you see Capcom moved on from RE after RE 1 sold 4 million copies on PS1 and brought them $200 million profit? Or did you see Sega moved on from Sonic after Sonic 1 sold really well and brought them $1 Billion profit?

Re: Here Comes Two New Challengers! Ken, Chun-Li Join Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves

PuppetMaster

@Korgon No one in the current roster except Juri and JP who can do fireball war with Terry power wave. So, the best tactics is just low block / parry the fireball and keeps moving forward.

But, i remember AKI has spinning special move from her slide called Venomous Fang or something where she can bypass any fireball. Maybe you can used it to punish Terry if keeps spamming power wave?

Or can you used her EX Serpent Lash to punish Terry when he do power wave? I think the chain range is quite long but i don't know if it have fireball invisibility.

I'm not a main AKI though but i feel like she can do something to bypass Terry power wave...

Re: Don't Give Up on Jin Just Yet, More Ghost of Tsushima Spin-Offs Planned

PuppetMaster

@Mr_B021 This is like suggesting Nintendo shouldn't make a second Mario Bros or Pokemon game, Square shouldn't make FF 2, Konami shouldn't make MG 2, Sega shouldn't make Yakuza 2 etc etc after the first game sold really well.

Let's just abandon the IP that printed money, the fans who loves it, and all the assets and engine that created for the game because why? That companies shouldn't expand their IP into a franchise and generating money to keep them afloat?

Yeah it's a crazy idea indeed, doesn't even makes a single sense with the demand and supply rule.

I'm just glad you're not Sucker Punch advisor nor any of the company that i mention. With your idea, all must ended with one game, no sequels, spin off, manga, anime, etc 🙄

Re: Don't Give Up on Jin Just Yet, More Ghost of Tsushima Spin-Offs Planned

PuppetMaster

@Nepp67 From the trailer, we can expect Ghost of Yotei will offer new gameplay / combat with Atsu's using dual blade, kusarigama, and even a matchlock / tanegashima which doesn't exist in Jin era until 1500's.

And with the setting in mainland Hokkaido, we can see more NPC and definitely more variations for side quest too. I can imagine we got interesting side quest that has connection with historical characters like maybe Miyamoto Musashi (he died in 1645). Lots of possibilities :3

So, if Sucker Punch used Jin again, i don't think they can do much to add new side quest, gameplay mechanics, and Jin's arsenal since Japan in 1200's was pretty limited. At best we would see a repeat of same side quest and weapons from the first game like smoke bomb, fire arrow, kunai, blowgun, or longbow again.

Re: Don't Give Up on Jin Just Yet, More Ghost of Tsushima Spin-Offs Planned

PuppetMaster

I like Jin but i never feel Sucker Punch design his story for sequels. I mean, Jin story arc felt complete after i finished the main game and then Iki Island expansion put a nice closure for his character development. So i'm not sure where they can used Jin again without making his closure looks pointless.

Some people say, there's the 2nd Mongol invasion. Say Sucker Punch used that as a setting and Jin again, but that would be repeat of the 1st game which i bet a lot of people will complaint "it's just the 1st game but with bigger map, it should be a DLC".

So new protag, new story, new location, and new timeline hundreds of year after Tsushima is the best route if Sucker Punch wants "Ghost of" become a long running series. That way, they can always try new stuff and keeps the series fresh.

Re: PS5's Ghost of Yotei Triggers Social Media, Ex-Sony Exec Says 'If You Don't Like It, Don't Buy It'

PuppetMaster

I'm not sure how the guy can say Atsu is a forced "girlboss narrative" character when she doesn't even speak a single line in the trailer.

I guess some people put too much time on culture war. These people needs to get off from twitter or social media and take a long vacation to heal their mental health.

And there's plenty of great games with female lead like Metroid with Samus, RE with Jill/Claire/Rebecca/Sheva/Ada, Dino Crisis with Regina, Parasite Eve with Aya Brea, Alien Isolation with Amanda Ripley, Silent Hill 3 with Heather, Bayonetta, FF with Terra/Yuna/Ash/Light, etc etc. Ghost of Yotei Atsu could be one of them.

Re: Tekken 8 Heihachi Looks Like an Absolute Beast in First Gameplay Reveal

PuppetMaster

@Cloud39472 Agreed. I love T7 final battle betwen Kazuya vs Hei. It's just epic and feels have a lot of weight behind it like one of them will be completely dead. Not to mention the music is a banger.

But now with this old man back and alive again, T7 final battle lost it's charm and important. Heck, what's the point of Reina if this old man is a fkin immortal?

Oh well. It's the curse for fighting games i guess that the genre can't have a good and consistent story without retcon.

Example like Gouken from SF. I like the lore that Akuma killed him because that adds more than just rivalry between Ryu & Ken vs Akuma and it also makes Akuma Raging Demon looks scary. But someone at Capcom think it's a great idea to revived Gouken in SF 4 which pretty much deleted the reason why Ryu & Ken had a beef with Akuma. Akuma himself also lost his "evil" because all his opponent who received Raging Demon are alive. From Bison, Gen, to Gouken.

Re: RPG Fans Rejoice! Metaphor: ReFantazio PS5, PS4 Demo Seems Inevitable

PuppetMaster

I'm currently playing the demo right now, downloaded it from PSN Asia. It has english & Japan sub/dub and save data also carried to full game.

So far i like it. The graphics, artworks, music, story, characters, and combat. The english dub also sounds great with the characters has strong British / Scottish accent haha. I like the MC has voices for dialogue options, which is better compare to dead silent Persona MC.

Although, i still feel like i'm playing a Persona game than a new IP. But again, it's just a Prologue.

Re: Palworld's Release in Japan on Hold Indefinitely Thanks to Nintendo Lawsuit

PuppetMaster

Sorry off topic: Atlus just released a prologue demo for Metaphor on PSN (and maybe for Xbox & PC as well). It has english & japan dub/sub, size 27 gigs.

On topic. As usual from Nintendo. I found it ironic though that Pokemon design is a blatant copy of Dragon Quest monsters. And the capture + collect monsters and used them in battle was started by Atlus Megami Tensei back in 1987 where players can persuade aka 'capture' demons and summon them in battle.

But here we are with Nintendo suing small devs :/

Re: Round Up: What Was Announced During Sony's State of Play Livestream for September 2024?

PuppetMaster

@Kidfunkadelic83 I think Capcom knows really well that people are asking for a new Dino Crisis game including remake. Their own survey showed Dino Crisis at top 10 for Capcom games that people want to see for a remake / new game. It's an easy money for Capcom since their RE remake are very popular and well received.

The only problem is RE team already busy with their current projects (possibly RE 9 & Code Veronica / 0 / 5 remake) to the point they can't afford to split the team for Dino Crisis remake / new game.

But i'm not surprise if Capcom already greenlight Dino Crisis remake after they got the results from their survey. They probably gonna wait until RE team finished one of RE game and then they'll start pre-production for Dino Crisis.

Re: Ghost of Yotei Is the Ghost of Tsushima Sequel We Needed, Slashing to PS5 in 2025

PuppetMaster

@Vaako007 "Japanese history has so many warriors stories that could be told whom are blokes"

I'm sure you got your fill with Samurai Warriors, Kessen, Onimusha, NiOh, Devil Kings / Sengoku Basara, Rise of the Ronin, Yakuza Ishin, and so on that let you play as Japanese blokes.

But this is the first time for a samurai game with female lead who used dual blade and took place in early 1600 Japan. I myself want to know more about Onna-Musha / Onna Beguisha aka female warrior who live in that era because there's plenty of historical record about them but so far no one adapt them into a video game where they're the main lead.

@GeeEssEff I'm sure Sucker Punch doesn't want to mess around especially with the Japanese really loves Ghost of Tsushima (it sold 1 million copies in Japan). So big chance they will write a solid story for Ghost of Yotei.
