Re: Spider-Man PS5 vs PS4 Comparison Shows Off a Generational Leap

RenanKJ

To be honest, I can't see much of a difference. Spider-Man is already such a beautiful game that ray-tracing didn't make a huge impact for me. They could just unlock the frame rate in the original for a free upgrade and call it a day.

Also, I understood that performance mode lacks ray-tracing, does that mean that it's either ray-tracing or 60fps?

Re: Spider-Man Creative Director Speaks Out on Peter Parker's New Face Following Backlash

RenanKJ

@Arnna Honestly? Yes if I play in sequence (which I actually like to do). It's not a graphical improvement, it's a complete remodeling of Peter. It makes me think about purchasing the remaster.

@get2sammyb Hey Sammy, PushSquare could have an article comparing both versions, with a summary of what's new and personal thoughts of different reviewers if it sounds worth the double dip or not. That would be a good read.

Re: Spider-Man Creative Director Speaks Out on Peter Parker's New Face Following Backlash

RenanKJ

On to the next topic: are the enhancements worth the investment if you already own the PS4 version (and played it twice and got a Platinum)? I'm thinking the transition is going to be quite weird from old Peter looks to Spider-Man 2, unless the game has a time-travel story because this new face look younger. 60 FPS and the usage of adaptive triggers sound good as well...

To buy or not to buy? That's the question.

Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5

RenanKJ

This will be an interesting generation of consoles. With Amazon Luna, Google Stadia and Microsoft xCloud, it kinda feels like eventually Nintendo and PlayStation will merge with Microsoft to be able to fight back.

Edit: Or maybe Nintendo and PlayStation can merge with each other finally and rule them all.

Re: Sony Confirms Spider-Man PS5 Remaster Is Not a Free Upgrade

RenanKJ

@deathaxe In Brazil, Miles Morales alone costs as much as PS4 games on launch due to the next-gen prices (R$ 249.99). If I were to buy a remastered version of a game that I own all the DLCs for, that would cost me R$ 349.99 which is waaaay too much for a shorter game than Spider-Man plus upgrades to a game I already own.

Again, I'd like it for free like any other gamer, but I'm willing to pay if the upgrade is meaningful. Not this price though.

Re: Microsoft Ponders More Video Game Company Acquisitions

RenanKJ

As long as games keep coming on PlayStation and studios manage to keep their creativity going, it doesn't matter who is behind them. It's when the studios are locked for their ecosystem that it becomes a problem. And to be honest, I'm not sure it's legal for one company to purchase all others and own the market, for instance Disney had to go on trial when purchasing Fox.

Also, some publishers should just stay far away from any high-quality studios, such as EA. They break whatever they touch if it's not sports related.

Re: Soapbox: Screw Sony's PS5 Game Pricing, I'll Just Wait for Sales

RenanKJ

No, I'll wait for sales. Unless it's a game I really want and I'll play it from day one (which is often not the case when I buy games on sale), then no, thanks. The price is too high. My launch games will actually be PS4 games running on PS5 to experience the improvement.

And I don't mean to be rude, I know games are getting really expensive, but maybe it's time to rethink that. Is it really required to spend millions to produce every single game? Sure we want our God of Wars, but I actually love my Crash Bandicoots as well - not every game needs to be a 90h+ open-world with hyper-realistic graphics, hollywood storywriting and characters played by live actors.

Re: When Is the PS5 Showcase Event?

RenanKJ

"If you miss the live event, don't worry — we'll have all the news up on the site as soon as possible."

No way I'll miss the event when they finally say the price and release date! =)

Re: Capcom Suggests Lacking Resident Evil 3 Sales Aren't All That Surprising

RenanKJ

I loved RE3 Remake to be honest. It's a great game. It has two issues that affect its sale IMO: its length and comparison to the original.

Well, if you didn't play the original or even if you did, it's a great game in its own right. As for length, that IS the major problem, people are gonna buy it way more when the price drops significantly. What I hear and read all the time is "Too expensive for X hours, I'll wait for a price drop" rather than "The game looks bad, I don't wanna buy it".

Btw, I got it at launch and played twice already, it's short length is kinda perfect to replay it if you enjoyed the game.

Re: Poll: When Will You Buy a PS5?

RenanKJ

I want to pre-order it, but it depends on the price, which Sony is not willing to share for some weird reason.

I wish I knew the price by now, at least I could save for it.

Re: Poll: Would You Pay $70 for a Brand New PS5 Game?

RenanKJ

That would roughly translate to R$ 350.00 in Brazil, which is way too much for an entertainment product. The standard price here for a new game has been R$ 250.00 for a while, which is still too much, but I'm ok with it since I only purchase games with this price when they're must-haves from day 1.

Re: Poll: Did You Miss E3 2020 Last Week?

RenanKJ

I don't thin E3 is going to be the same again, but I also believe it can be an important event for gaming. As much as I appreciate Nintendo Direct-esque presentations, the time of announcing games years before release is gone for me, no patience to watch trailers for something that's barely an idea - in this sense, E3 is perfect because publishers can wait until closer to release and announce stuff at E3.

I do believe E3 needs to change, though. Digital presentations, maybe trying games by streaming or downloading demos during the period, with live comments from devs, I don't know. They need to change somehow.

Re: Your First Look at PS5 Will Be in 1080p, 30 Frames-Per-Second

RenanKJ

One of the reasons I'd rather stick to 1080p TVs. It just feels like a huge waste of hardware and internet bandwidth to transfer 4K images around the web. Imagine using all those resources for something other than a new resolution that we can't even notice unless the TV is huge! Not to mention it would reduce the demand on Netflix/YouTube/Other servers...

Anyway, I'll definitely watch with my headphones, let's see what this new audio tech is all about.

Re: Feature: The PS4 Games We Keep Coming Back To

RenanKJ

For games in general, any Super Mario game from World to Odyssey is a given. But back to PlayStation I'd have to say Uncharted series, Last of Us, Spider-Man, Tomb Raider series, Resident Evil series and Kingdom Hearts series are all games that I played countless times already. This generation is seriously one of the best ever, if not the best.
