Re: Sony Designed PS5's Biggest Feature Around Thriving Single Player Games

RenanKJ

Most of the time I prefer to actually play the game instead of using fast-travels and activity cards. I did use activity cards to play Peter's challenges in Miles Morales, though. Quite useful for post-game side missions.

Still didn't figure out how to use those guides, however. Sony did an excellent job of making the menu tricky to work with if you came from PS4 - for starters they switched the commands for "quick menu" and "main menu"... Don't know about you folks, but I often hold PS button by mistake when I want to go to "quick menu" to put PS5 in rest mode, hehe.

Re: Astro's Playroom (PS5) - The Perfect PlayStation 5 Pack-In

RenanKJ

I got the platinum on Astro today. Lovely game that does an excellent job showcasing DualSense's features. Feeling the drops of the rain or the Frog suit weight is amazing! I hope other games explore the controller as well.

My only complaint on Astro has been the rolling ball levels - not even Japan Studio managed to find a nice use of the touch pad... I mean, it would have been easy to control the ball with the analog sticks, or even with motion control, but no, I have to die 1000 times to control with the touch pad.

Re: PS5 Review - The Future of PlayStation

RenanKJ

Excellent review, quite a long read, but well detailed! It got me even more excited for Nov. 26th (that's Amazon's target date here)!

Hey @get2sammyb, can you try Resident Evil 2 on PS5? Mr. X's steps in 3D audio has a lot of potential. I wouldn't mind stable framerates either. =)

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want to Know About PS5?

RenanKJ

I'd like to know more about 3D audio! Is it as awesome as Sony say? Does it work with any headphones/earphones? Does it improve any old BC games?

Also, does it take flight in demanding games both old and new like PS4 Slim? Would be nice to test it in open and closed spaces.

Re: Site News: We Have a PS5

RenanKJ

Congrats, Push Square! Looking forward to the articles!

I'd like to know more about the non-gaming interactions, such as Library, Store, organizing the multiple games, customizing the interface, and so on. Also curious about Tempest engine, if you can somehow try it, and how it works with multiple kinds of audio devices. =)

Re: Take a Look at the New PS Store for Web Browsers, Slowly Rolling Out Globally

RenanKJ

@SamboNZ Well, it has a lot of potential. It's way faster to buy if you know what you're looking for. Of course it has many areas to improve and I strongly believe they'll continuously iterate the store this gen. Also, we still didn't see how the store works in PS5 itself.

About the specific topics you mentioned - screenshots, trailers, file size and wish list - I agree that they must be included in future iterations, but I disagree they're essential from day 1. Why? Because I can't even remember the last time I looked into screenshots or trailers in PS Store (Push Square, Meu PS, YouTube and Instagram are my go-to options). Was there even a wish list feature in PS4's PS Store app? How is file size meaningful info to purchase a game? Not saying these features shouldn't be there eventually, just that if you have a limited budget to rebuild the store and you need to start somewhere, this is a good starting point.

I do understand that in its current version, PS Store is basically useless for browsing. I just don't know how many people actually use it for anything other than "search for and buy game X that I already want" or "browse through specific sales list".

Edit: Keep in mind that a good part of their budget may have gone into building the PS Store in PS5, with the remaining available for the Web Store.

Re: Take a Look at the New PS Store for Web Browsers, Slowly Rolling Out Globally

RenanKJ

Recently launched here in Brazil. I like it better than the previous one. It's certainly faster and more modern. It's a little rough around the edges though, I feel that there's a lot of blank space and the square blocks are too big. Well, for day 1 it's in great shape!

PS5 will look and feel great, it seems.

And for those complaining: come on, folks! Games Library! Trophies (even hidden ones)! Downloads (with progress)! All this despite the store redesign!

Re: PS5 UI Revealed in New State of Play Presentation

RenanKJ

Looks awesome! My favorite features are:

  • Watching a friend play a completely different game while I play my own, and be able to chat and help when needed (or even play the same game but separately).
  • In-game guides for challenges, that's a game changer for me; sorry PushSquare, but I hate searching online for where to find item X in game Y to complete Z. I do hope that they allow community to publish guides, though!

Also, home page reminds me of Windows. Well done, Sony, best PlayStation UI yet.

Re: Poll: How Often Will You Use PS5 Backwards Compatibility?

RenanKJ

All the time for the first year or two. Please repeat this question two years from now, hehe. =)

I have a feeling that BC is going to be a huge thing this gen. The fact is that even with PS5 games releasing there's still going to be some really cool (and cheap) PS4 games to buy and play as time goes on. Instead of PS4/PS5, it will be kind of PlayStation games as a whole.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Promotes 'Great' PS5 Support at Launch

RenanKJ

Most likely they'll provide unlocked framerates initially. On unrelated, but related news, I just googled Kingdom Hearts 3 and it also has an unlocked framerate option (yay)!

Hey PushSquare, not sure if you did something like this, but it would be interesting to have a list of games with unlocked framerate options that might take advantage of Game Boost on PS5. =)

Re: You Can Transfer Your PS4 Games and Save Data to PS5

RenanKJ

Some short insights from the support article:

  • 'Create' button behaves similarly to 'Share' button; has its own new menu.
  • There is going to be a "Games home" section in the UI where we can access the library. Maybe they're moving away from the classic XMB navigation?

Re: PS5 Stand Solution Is Seriously Nifty

RenanKJ

By November, I'll play it horizontally. But my girlfriend and I got a new apartment and the architect actually designed a space near the TV for the PS5 to be used vertically (which was a really nice surprise). =)

Re: PS5's Crazy Cooling Solution Should Make for One Quiet Console

RenanKJ

@nessisonett My PS4 Slim attempts to take flight for most of the top games this gen such as God of War, FFXV, Uncharted 4, Resident Evil 2/3/7, Horizon Zero Dawn, and the list goes on. Anything demanding graphics-wise and it turns into a jet engine.

Looking forward to playing games with a quiet console for a change.

Re: Watch Lots of Brand New PS5 Gameplay with Japanese YouTube Videos

RenanKJ

Nice!! It's so funny to watch Japanese videos. I can't understand a single word, but they express themselves way more "dramatic" than Brazilian videos.

And you know what, Godfall is actually looking interesting now. Also looking forward to Astro's, from footage it seems to be the Wii Sports of PS5, a quick way to understand the new controller.

Re: Rumour: PS5 UI Leak Shows Boot Sequence, 664GB Usable Storage

RenanKJ

I'm so used to playing one or two games at a time, and deleting them once I'm done that I have a hard time understanding how difficult it is for people to manage 664GB of usable storage.

I mean, can you really play so many games at once? Aren't you collecting installs for the sake of having icons on screen?

Maybe Sony should go the Nintendo way and "archive" the games. They would still show up in the UI, but after X days without playing them, they are uninstalled from the system.

Re: Spider-Man PS5 vs PS4 Comparison Shows Off a Generational Leap

RenanKJ

@2cents I agree that it provides the biggest visual difference between the versions. It still doesn't impact me much though, because I already see Spider-Man as a really beautiful game, it doesn't add much to the experience. I expect to fall in love with ray-tracing in slower paced games such as Resident Evil where you get to see the details more.

Re: Spider-Man PS5 vs PS4 Comparison Shows Off a Generational Leap

RenanKJ

To be honest, I can't see much of a difference. Spider-Man is already such a beautiful game that ray-tracing didn't make a huge impact for me. They could just unlock the frame rate in the original for a free upgrade and call it a day.

Also, I understood that performance mode lacks ray-tracing, does that mean that it's either ray-tracing or 60fps?

Re: Spider-Man Creative Director Speaks Out on Peter Parker's New Face Following Backlash

RenanKJ

@Arnna Honestly? Yes if I play in sequence (which I actually like to do). It's not a graphical improvement, it's a complete remodeling of Peter. It makes me think about purchasing the remaster.

@get2sammyb Hey Sammy, PushSquare could have an article comparing both versions, with a summary of what's new and personal thoughts of different reviewers if it sounds worth the double dip or not. That would be a good read.

Re: Spider-Man Creative Director Speaks Out on Peter Parker's New Face Following Backlash

RenanKJ

On to the next topic: are the enhancements worth the investment if you already own the PS4 version (and played it twice and got a Platinum)? I'm thinking the transition is going to be quite weird from old Peter looks to Spider-Man 2, unless the game has a time-travel story because this new face look younger. 60 FPS and the usage of adaptive triggers sound good as well...

To buy or not to buy? That's the question.

Re: Maybe Don't Get Your Hopes Up for Future Bethesda Games on PS5

RenanKJ

This will be an interesting generation of consoles. With Amazon Luna, Google Stadia and Microsoft xCloud, it kinda feels like eventually Nintendo and PlayStation will merge with Microsoft to be able to fight back.

Edit: Or maybe Nintendo and PlayStation can merge with each other finally and rule them all.
