Re: Talking Point: Would You Want a Steam Deck-Like Portable PlayStation?

S1ayeR74

I would have zero interest in this. None. It would be a total waste of time. I have my OG PSP still and it still works, it was a fantastic device because Sony and devs supported it. Then we got the Vita, and it lasted what 2 years before Sony ditched its support and turned it into a PS4 remote control…

It became obvious then that Sony do NOT have the ability or staff to maintain different dedicated devices, the Portal succeeds because it IS a remote control, and to Sonys shock no doubt is successful.

But even Nintendo discovered it couldn’t handle a home console and handheld console at the same time, hence ditching the formula and combining them into two and merging all their teams together.

Nintendo dominates the handheld the space, then we have the new PC handheld players in town, and let’s be honest Valve is a hell of a lot more consumer focussed then Nintendo or Sony are, but they’ve launched a device that’s thinking outside the box and has gained huge community support and has sold in very good numbers as a result and they are committed to compete in the handheld market going forward.

All Sony will be doing is releasing a handheld that most likely runs PS5 or 6 games natively with poorer graphics, what Microsoft has done with Series S, and as a result it’ll hold back game development too, as Microsoft has done.

It just sounds like a boring edition to Sonys lineup that will sell poorly and no doubt be priced massively for what it offers.
I think Sony and Microsoft will be in for a shock and a hard battle if they launch new devices into the handheld games market. And that’s ignoring the fact any phone or tablet can remotely play or cloud play their games anyway.

I have a Steam Deck OLED, it isn’t perfect, but it’s more than enough to keep me away from a Sony handheld. The only handheld I’d be interested in is a Switch 2, and if Sony charges £600 or more for the standard PS6 it might be my ONLY console too if it gets the third party support…

Re: Stellar Blade's Eve Will Attack You if You Act Inappropriately in New PS5 DLC

S1ayeR74

How pathetic, they firstly create a character model like that with jiggle physics for no real reason, then make it do that when no doubt young people will go looking. It’s p**** teasing in game.
Plenty of sites they can look at real naked women but look up a characters skirt in game oh no that’s a big no no. Sonys bat ***** crazy censorship in full effect.

Still some seam to enjoy the game, I tried the demo and found it stupid, and a curved women character with jiggle physics and giant attributes just because. Dear oh dear too old for that rubbish.

Re: PS5 Pro Image Quality Issues Reported for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

S1ayeR74

I’m thinking unless Sony can really nail PSSR in its development kits, and make it work better for game conversions to its platform, they may find third party games consistently perfuming worst in some cases then on the base PS5 with FSR as FSR is far more widely used.

But PSSR is really in development on the PS5 Pro in preparation for PS6, lots of work ahead for Sony.

Re: Review: PS5 Pro - An Impressive Yet Inconsistent Upgrade

S1ayeR74

I’ve been going back and forth, I have a nice Sony 55” 4K OLED TV but it doesn’t have VRR or 120hz in 4K, just in 1080P, it doesn’t 60FPS at 4K.
Anyway I was led off with how much reliance devs put into VRR this gen, they seemed to be replying in TV tech to fix their issues, or reduce the time to optimise games. Plus for me I’d need a disk drive and stand so £830 all in. That ain’t cheap. I think I’ll wait to see what the Switch 2 is like first. I can always wait for PS6.
I don’t want to buy a new TV either, but I see a lot of OLED monitors have dropped in price for Black Friday hmmm… I would rather get me one of those to be honest. I got a new MacBook Pro this year and it would go well with that.

Re: All PS5 Pro Enhanced Games

S1ayeR74

I've watched loads of reviews and opinions seem so split on it, I think mainly due to the cost. Its CPU is the same, Sony will allow a 10% boost but you lose some GPU power then.
All I want is games in 4K upscale, good graphics and a stable 60fps, but ray tracing would be nice and it seems it can't do that? It still runs at 30fps with advanced ray tracing?? It's a bit confusing.

Can anyone confirm, what sort of ray tracing do you get with the upscaled 4K and 60FPS? None or something?

Re: Out Today: PS5 Pro, the Most Powerful Console Ever

S1ayeR74

@symmetrian Did I say that? No, if you had an ounce of a clue you'd realise how I'm right. The OG PS5 and Series X have tons of performance left on the table, because devs don't optimise their games. Instead they rely on VRR to uplift them. The same will be true you this new Pro model however due to its much more powerful hardware, it'll give a boost to games. Devs will 'enhance' games but not push the console hardware.

Re: Out Today: PS5 Pro, the Most Powerful Console Ever

S1ayeR74

@LifeGirl Its devs as much as Sony, these days they've grown to become lazy and rely too much on power and VRR to properly optimise their games. Sadly. So if you want best graphics and performance on PS, the devs won't help you, you'll need a Pro.

Re: Out Today: PS5 Pro, the Most Powerful Console Ever

S1ayeR74

'PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution' is the key feature, it is Sony's DLSS or FSR. And in the case of DLSS especially, AI up scaling has been proven to be massively effective at boosting graphics whilst not requiring a building with a supercomputer in it. It seems to be the solution to the problem as consumer GPU's have a limit of power and thermals and space, and price although Nvidia cards get silly.

I may have to take a look at the review vids of the new Pro.

Re: Sony's Guerrilla Sounds Completely Done with the Killzone Series

S1ayeR74

@nomither6 Oh yes, I loved the last one on PS4 wasn’t it? Played it at least 3 times and the DLC. Yeap Sony of old (under different management and leadership it has to be said) was FAR better IMO, I think the PS4 may be the last great gen from them. I don’t care much for Spiderman (partly due to the fact it will not copy my saved progress from my PS4 to PS5 since I updated to the enhanced PS5 version), find Horizon incredibly dull and tedious. The only game I’ve been enjoying from them is Ragnarok. TLOU 1 was a masterpiece but part 2 was a joke IMO and they ruined it. And I haven’t touched a live service game from them. It seems people are still sticking to a handful of titles on the console, like COD, Gran Turismo, Fortnite etc more than ever.

I have to say, at this moment in time my PS5 has been collecting dust, although I might play TLOU one again on it. I am far more excited for the new Switch 2 and I’ve been hooked on my Steam Deck playing older games. For the first time I finished Bioshock 1 and 2 on it. Great games. Maybe I’ll get Judas on PS5 when it’s out? But others think the PS5 is the best gen yet so it’s all personal opinions. But with such a dry exodus of new or sequel games from Sony, just endless pointless remakes, I do not see myself currently getting a PS6.

Re: Sony's Guerrilla Sounds Completely Done with the Killzone Series

S1ayeR74

I’ve never liked Horizon, to me it tried to have a story but fell short and I don’t really enjoy the game. Killzone was alright though, good action if the story was a bit flat.
Sony doesn’t have a single FPS exclusive and hasn’t for years has it? Relying heavily on COD for its FPS action games. And judging by this review it has no interest in them either.

It’s move to only third person over the shoulder games has made it a bit boring. SOCOM, Killzone, Resistance Retribution were great action games that softened the over the shoulder story games. And no new Unchartered either.

Re: PS5 Firmware Update Annoys with Unwanted Deluge of Ads, News Feed

S1ayeR74

Ok just checked and it just seems to be official news snippets. Not too bad AS LONG as it stays like that, BUT what I do NOT agree with is it looks like if you have a disk game and go over its icon, Sony will put nice ad for you to purchase the exact same game digitally on the screen for you... they can f*** right off with that idea!!

Re: PS5 Firmware Update Annoys with Unwanted Deluge of Ads, News Feed

S1ayeR74

I'll see how this goes but I may end up selling my PS5. I sold my Series X because after an update they forced endless rows of ads on you of Game Pass games, friends playing list, media apps, films etc all
Forced and unremovable.

This seems to be going down a similar path. Sorry but I do NOT do ads on a premium priced device with expensive games. If they want to do that they can damn well lower the console and games prices!

Re: Gran Turismo 7 Will Experiment with 8K, 60fps on PS5 Pro

S1ayeR74

@nomither6 I said 4K? Who said anything about 8K? I doubt your PC will even handle 8K, certainly not at 120FPS. 8K is nothing by a 100% pure marketing PR stunt! Can you buy an 8K monitor even? And their are hardly an TV's with it and the ones that exist are usually huge.

I agree up the frame rates, give a stable
60 to 120FPS, all anyone wants. But they have to do their PR bit I guess.

Re: PS6 Is Already Deep in Development, Backwards Compatibility of High Importance

S1ayeR74

Not interested as I cannot see it being cheaper then £650 to £700 at launch now. It will be more powerful than the PS5 Pro.
I'll stick to PS5, Steam Deck and Switch 2.

Plus Sony's idea of games this gen has been utterly atrocious! The best ones I've played on PS5 has been Dead Island 2 so third party, and God Of War Ragnarok which is on the PS4 too!! In fact apart from COD and those two I've not played much else on it.

Re: Filming on Ubisoft's Watch Dogs Movie Has Wrapped

S1ayeR74

Well the base story is good, but will it work on screen in live action? I’m one who actually thoroughly enjoyed Borderlands, so this may work, but it’s now in the stages of really being made, with all the CGI and effects being made and then the editing…

Re: Poll: Would You Buy PS5 Pro If It Was Cheaper?

S1ayeR74

I have to say add why would you buy the Pro console, for which the only way they could sell it to you was by ridiculing the current model! Which has no issues.. Sorry Sony screwed up with this Pro model, it's not needed, overpriced, and shows Sonys arrogance has cropped up again.
I've also heard from those with dev contacts that none of them asked for any 'more power' from the PS5, because they aren't using all the current models power, but these are select developer individuals and not representative of the companies one of which was EA.

From what Sony's shown so far, the PS5 Pro is a machine looking for a problem to fix.

Re: Poll: Would You Buy PS5 Pro If It Was Cheaper?

S1ayeR74

@Deoxyr1bose This, this Pro model is purely made for the devs who can't be bothered to make games properly and optimise them to use all the existing consoles power. They make more money then ever before, sell more games then ever before, the gaming community is bigger then ever before, but devs seem to be lazier then ever before.

The Switch shows just what can be done with the right optimisation, and games are slowly being optimised for the Steam Deck making it a viable device in its market still despite its weaker hardware.

Anyway no I wouldn't buy a Pro model for the reasons I just gave.

Re: Lack of Competition from Xbox Partly Why PS5 Pro Is $700, Says Analyst

S1ayeR74

@Don PlayStation is effectively an American company, Sony closed practically all their PS offices globally, laid off hundreds of staff and moved the entire lot to California. Where I imagine they hired many Americans to fill the positions of those who didn’t want to relocate.

Having said that didn’t Sony recently appoint two Japanese fellows to be in charge of PlayStation?

Re: Lack of Competition from Xbox Partly Why PS5 Pro Is $700, Says Analyst

S1ayeR74

I’ve read even on here so many comments about how people want Xbox to die effectively. Well this is what happens… YOU end up paying for it.
If this PS5 Pro by some miracle does sell well, then you can fully expect the PS6 to cost similar money. Because Xbox still won’t be a threat. Don’t forget your £70 games either, and if PS6 is all digital you’ll have to pay that a lot more at launch.

I’m looking forward to the Switch 2 being revealed, if it can run the same third party games and gets support, I think it will be competition for Sony this time.
