Re: Sony Takes Down PS5 Pro YouTube Leak, Suggesting It's All Legit

Savage_Joe

@SgtTruth leaks are basically unauthorized and illegal. Many claim that they have leaks of a product, but mostly, companies know they are false and don’t act upon it. When the company makes a claim, though, it means that somebody really screwed up and showed the real deal when it shouldn’t. Companies are within their rights to take down any video or article that may compromise an unreleased product.

Re: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Has Sold Around 2 Million Copies, PS5 Player Data Suggests

@8bitOG I’m 33, thank you very much. And you’re the one not understanding. I have all consoles including PC. I can buy Rebirth on PS5 and be done with it. I’m speaking about people who played the first Remake on a platform that is not PS5, and SE forcing those players to dish up $570 to play the sequel, to then complain that sales were not as expected. SE created it’s own problem by alienating their PS4 players. Not everyone will buy the shiny new console just for one game. You said 50M PS5 sales? There are 130M PS4 in the wild. Do the math!!!

Re: Despite Hype, Analyst Says Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth 'Underperforming'

Savage_Joe

@TruestoryYep my comment has nothing to do with games looking like switch games, but about the excessive amount of money spent on a game that is just all looks and no fun. Helldivers 2 is all about fun gameplay and not about photorealistic looks. The budget was probably a couple of dozen millions and they already recovered that and more. That’s why it’s massively successful. You completely missed my point.

@Jay767 Playstation is a business. They are here to make money more than pleasing us. If they spend half a billion dollars in a game with all the bells and whistles and still flops, that’s not a good business for them. Look at Switch. Seemingly low budget games, and they still print money, even years after launch, like Mario Kart 8. That’s what Sony and MS are missing.

Re: PS Portal Is Proving Everyone's Predictions Wrong

@Ralizah Nintendo didn’t reinvent the handheld space. Phones did. The Vita launched when phone gaming was increasingly popular and the 3DS was struggling to sell. But Sony, with a device that was more powerful than phones those days, caved in instead of showing us what the Vita could really do. Nintendo just kept believing in the handheld space, despite people flocking to phones and tablets to play, and it paid off.

My take is that WB just wants to get rid of DC. Crap comics that don’t sell, games nobody asked for, and uninspiring movies lead or co-lead by actual criminals. It’s not like WB is a pure evil company (Disney takes that cake). They have made bangers in HP and MK. But what they’ve done to the DC franchise is extremely unforgivable… Just sell the franchise to more capable hands, or let them go independent.

Re: Reaction: The Problem with PlayStation Right Now

@NEStalgia “The industry is in trouble, but Sony's problem isn't an industry problem. It's a management problem that has become a product problem.”

The way I see it, the entire industry is in trouble, but Sony is like the microcosmos of what is happening everywhere else: Their big games not coming out, over acquiring studios just to lay people off the next day, over depending on third party exclusives, over incentivizing on games because they are too expensive and/or ambitious to make, forcing first party franchises go multiplatform, reliance on live service games, etc. The PS5 will do fine now and in the future, but Sony should focus more on their own studios instead of dishing out money outside of what they already have.

My take is that devs and publishers should stop focusing so much on the following:

  • Photorealistic graphics. That alone takes the most amount of their time and budget. Just for what?!? Crappy gameplay in return. Sony is extremely guilty on this with their “cinematic” games with boring gameplay. Nintendo takes it to the other extreme with great gameplay with crappy graphics. For me, there should be a balance of both. If devs want to make realistic graphics, making a movie might be cheaper.
  • Games being unnecessary political. My motto is that video games are to have fun and escape from reality. Games that only focus on the political message do the exact opposite of that. What’s the point on playing a game where the purpose of it is not to entertain, but to lecture us for our ideals? That won’t sell, period. The latest Saint’s Row game is the best example of that. Games can be entertaining, have a great story and be political, like the FF VII games.
  • Excessive micro transactions. I don’t even have to talk about it. Micro transactions work on mobile games and PC, not consoles.
  • Making extremely long games. Most RPGs and open world games are guilty of this. Devs put excessive amount of content, side quests and clutter just to make the game “longer” and justify the full price. Newsflash! Only a single digit percent of gamers will fully complete a game. Devs waste time, money and manpower unnecessarily bloating a game with content 90% of players won’t even touch.
