You have to be careful with the helldivers 2fanbase. 1) Don't get them wet 2) Don't feed them after midnight 3) Absolutely do not expose them to sunlight.
Others trying to reinvent the wheel with subscriptions & going all out live service. Capcom & Nintendo doing what's worked with great execution.. and doing well. Let good teams make good games. Not trying to force the next Fortnite or conjure up new business models, just a steady stream of well made quality titles.
Wow, just checked the discord. They are now demanding an entire Spitz expansion with a full single player campaign featuring General Spitz as the lead. They are also demanding a large 7 topping pizza + 6 pack of coke zero for every player by Friday morning. Looks like they are planning to use AI tools to review bomb every single Sony product globally unless their demands are met. This is just crazy.
The traditional gaming model wasn't ideal, but it did work. MS tried to disrupt with the streaming pass and as many said, it might not be sustainable. At least not with games as we've known them.
I mean yeah, for EA this will be about shareholder profit not really making better games. Same old same old but cheaper to make. Job losses are unfortunately going to happen, instead of team of environment designers you might have a seed designer and someone to tidy it up. I'm more interested in what smaller devs and teams with real ambition can do. We might see a renaissance of what we considered to be last-gen AAA type games.. but made by tiny teams on sustainable budgets. AI can make it faster to get ideas out of the door so there is potential to explore creativity and build worlds faster. Not sure it changes much for the big pubs chasing GAAS but could be a creative explosion in the Indie scene.
Sony has gone quiet, MS are seemingly in state of flux, Nintendo is quiet.. but we can assume for the Switch 2. I think Nintendo are going to steal the limelight for a while if they get this next console right. Maybe Sony is saving some ammunition for Switch 2 launch?
I knew Arkane Austin were in trouble after that cursed Redfall. What a shame, so much talent. Tango is strange though, hi fi rush was a well respected title made on a realistic budget.
3rd party stuff has been good, but I definitely miss the first party bangers. Started off so strong then just completely dropped off. With Uncharted wrapping up and TLOU well matured, I really thought we'd have heard of a new IP by now. Thought we'd have heard about team Asobi's big game too. Seen and heard more about TV shows, movies, and canceled games than new stuff recently. Is what it is, still plenty to play.
Quite looking forward to this. The 1st game completely hooked me and the setting here is compelling. I found it a little too easy and changed difficulty to Hard and it was absolutely perfect, the sweet spot: very tense but not overly difficult. Would recommend trying
Was just thinking yesterday that s.korea have made not just two of the best action games, but two of the best games full stop I've played in the past 6 months. Bought both on release (which is rare) and never regretted it + both were technically flawless with no bugs as well. Lies of P pc optimization was exceptional day 1. Would love to see them become a game making powerhouse, they seem to have some top tier talent, hopefully this initiative pours some fuel on it.
I'm a slow gamer, only just best the 1st boss tonight.. but bloody hell, what a buzz. Just brilliant. Not often I beat a boss after several failed attempts and want to immediately do it again.
'Paradise Killer Dev'.. that's all I need. No more information or trailer necessary. Sold. (I still listen to Paradise Killer OST in my car at least once a week incidentally.)
@NeonPizza Not sure if it has good SP tbh, my impression was that it's heavily co-op focused so communication is key. Honestly, i'd rather they leaned into that if that's the game they were going for, compromising would have watered it down. I play some MP but it's mostly low stakes where I can hop in and out, Splatoon is a bit one.. also like the look of helldivers. Still plenty of amazing single player games for me to work through, though like you I do miss the old days of having a strong network who were always available. That's life, and I clearly don't want it that badly because I could build up a little network if I really wanted to.. but don't really want to if i'm being honest with myself.
As I get older playing games with this level of cooperation gets practically impossible. Find multiple friends who play video games: highly unlikely. Find multiple friends who play the same game: virtually impossible. Finding multiple friends who all play the same game and can sync up their schedules for something like this: not happening. Finding multiple friends who all play the same game and can sync up their schedules for something like this on any kind of recurring basis: Lol, have to be taking the p*ss. Looks fun though.
Can't speak to outfits (not bothered personally) .. but gore is unchanged. It's quite a violent game. It's also amazing, just finished a good session. Shaping up to be one of my top ps5 titles.
Just got back with my copy.. but might have to wait till later tonight. Very rarely I do day 1s but this is my cuppa. Loved Bayonetta but always found combat a bit floaty. Love the chunkyness here.
Absolutely loved the first, but I have a firm stance on not playing early access games.. which I'm surprised to see on ps5? No issue with the program in general
Sounds worse on PC from what I'm hearing. These games just have janky engines, let's hope with all this newfound attention they build something better for the future Instead of building on this old creaking thing
Preparing myself for the potential reality that not that many games like could get made moving forward. Feels like the end of an era, though I hope not
Quite enjoyed the 1st despite it being a bit generic. The main characters in 2 turned me off, didn't bother with 3. Always intended to play the first on pc again one day and
So for all the ribbing they took, MS was actually on to something with all the gaming/TV talk at E3 years ago. Ironically despite sonys hard gamer pivot in reaction to their messaging, Sony ended up pioneering the gaming TV golden age. Guess we'll be seeing a lot more. Do you think this means more or less single player story driven games?

Hell hath no fury like a PC gamer given an extra account to log into (usually just once, then it happens automatically in the background after that).
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Stellar Blade?
Only thing that could top this for me on ps5 this year would be a full fat ASTRO game (or bloodborne 2.. which isn't happening).
