I always felt that Microsoft were a business first and a game maker second, and Nintendo and Sony were game makers first and business second. I know that's not exactly true and overly romanticized, but that's how it's felt. As the piece mentions Sony have made a cultural connection accross the world and thatwas difficult work. Sony I felt were in danger of veering into MS territory lately, but I think there may have been a bit of coup and we may see things change. We'll know next year for certain. Hoping they don't let business swallow what's good for games.
@Zuljaras Beautiful machine. I sold and shipped mine yesterday (waiting for oled to ship) and I'm actually suffering withdrawal symptoms. There's an empty space on my office desk that I almost can't look at.
Have unfinished business with Demon Souls... and then I would say the Bluey game but we've almost completed it in about an hour. Son will probably replay it to death so its all good.
Learning now that you don't need ps+ for remote play.. this becomes a bit more interesting? Bloodborne in bed, Astro for my kid from anywhere.. Definitely bookmarking this thing for a sale.
Still not biting. Sure this will pull a few more lapsers in though. Just don't play online enough personally.. now if Sony were to make a new KillZone (hint hint).
@PALversusNTSC Steamdeck failed? They've sold millions and are releasing an OLED model shortly with a steam deck 2 planned. Every one who uses it loves it and many people say it's the best console they own. It's incredibly popular. Where are you hearing it's failed?
Let mine lapse. Don't see a situation where I ever sign up again (outside of a new killzone) I don't mind a bit of MP, but this has had the effect of me digging harder into single player. Only sub I do is Nintendo as its about 20bucks for the basic which is about right.
Oh no! This really was high on my indie list NITW was a fave of mine. Gutted. Not much you can do about it though I suppose. Hope everyone is well, health first.
I'm whinging about first party SP content all the time and I haven't even played the 3 games in the video thumbnail. Bit rich isn't it? Think i'll finally install HFW and look into GOWR for Christmas.
Heard quitegood things about this, apparently you can clock it in a week which is highly appealing to me. I like AC just don't want it to become a side job
They've been a victim of TLOU's success. Just stuck on the franchise now, sequels, remasters, GaaS spin offs. All thef talent constrained to one grim world.
Seems to be more news and activity lately on movies based on single player Sony games than actual single player Sony games. Anyway that's my moan for today thanks for your time.
Couldn't sony have just hired them as consultants rather than buying them? I guess this was all part of the acquisition fever, what's mine is not yours. I can't pretend to understand the inner workings of studio management or game development, but deal seems a bit of a dud to me? Even Marathon is set to be multiplatform and they've said future games will be the same.
They've basically been making the same game for over a decade. I loved destiny when it first came out, can't imagine how some people are still playing it though.
@Toot1st Only two games I love and can't get on PC are the Astro bot demo and demon souls, and I've played both to death. All other third party stuff is on (or is coming) to PC and will likely be on switch 2. Hoping there's more announced next year but not looking hopeful.
If it turns out team asobi have been moved onto a live service project I think I'll likely sell my PS5 and move on. See what early next summer brings. Been with PlayStation since day 1 with PS1 but I don't think I'm their audience anymore. Nintendo and PC keep me pretty busy.
