Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 500

Wow! I did not realize how large the staff of Push Square was until everyone did a WAYP at the same time. I always kind of imagined Sammy running it out of his bedroom. Oh well. Shattered illusions and such. Anyway, still playing Spider-Man 2 with my son and we might try Lost in Random that I picked up in the store sale for under three dollars because of a mention from someone here on the site. Also Salt and Sanctuary for under a dollar. Thanks guys for paying attention.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Marvel's Spider-Man 2?

And of course someone has already voted Abysmal, even though there are no votes for Average, Poor, Bad or Terrible as of yet. I doubt this person has even played the game. And if so, it begs the question why spend seventy dollars on a game that will obviously play like it’s predecessor? They must know if they liked the original by now. If they did, does more of the same justify abysmal? And if they didn’t like it, then why buy the sequel? Trolls are gonna troll.

Dead by Daylight. My son bought the Nightmare Edition which includes Steve and Nancy and the Demogorgon from Stranger Things. The developers lost the rights to the Stranger Things characters so they have been removed from the game and the physical copy sells for an obscene amount on eBay. But it’s his money that he has been saving, and he loves the game, plus the price seems to be gradually increasing, so he can always resale the disc later. He has found a glitch (he loves glitches) that allows him to put a portal on a downed survivor, and when he starts to burrow, he is able to carry the survivor with him through the Upside Down. He did it during a game, and then the other survivors started standing on the portal and teabagging because they wanted to be carried through the Upside Down as well. Hysterical. Much fun. The only bad thing is that it is a PS4 disc and the PS5 upgrade that he usually plays does not unlock the characters for some reason. So now he has been playing the game nonstop on our older console and will probably end up getting a second Platinum. That is not ideal for our trophy competition.

Re: PlayStation Reveals New Official Headphones and Earbuds, Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore

@gonzilla. The poster’s original comment made it seem like he was talking about the audio coming from the controller itself, not using the jack on the controller for a wired headset. I was just using the Pulse as an example of any headset being superior to the sound from the controller. The post has since been edited to clarify a wired headset plugged into the controller.

@GamingFan4Lyf. Are you being serious? You don’t have to be an audiophile to tell the difference between the twee sound coming out of the controller compared to the 3D spatial audio of the Pulse headset. Tons of examples. In shooters, you are able to discern the direction of incoming fire. Horror games especially are enhanced and made creepier by the overall sound design. Audio truly adds to the overall immersion of the gaming experience. But surely you know this.

Re: Alien's Iconic Xenomorph Is Coming to PS5, PS4's Dead by Daylight

I started playing this with my son a few months back when he discovered it in the PlayStation Extra catalog. He has purchased a lot of the DLC packs in various sales and even managed to platinum the base game, which is impressive considering the number of trophies. Now he wants the Stranger Things physical version for Christmas because it has been removed from the game, but it sells for over a hundred dollars used on eBay. The amount of support this game has gotten, and continues to get, is staggering. I guess that is what keeps the player base engaged all these years later.

Re: Diablo 4's Seasonal Battle Pass Doesn't Contain Enough Platinum to Buy Literally Anything

Stevemalkpus

“Blizzard’s move breaks with long-held live service norms…”. Does it though? Because the same thing is true in their Battle Pass for OverWatch 2. Hell, you don’t even get the premium token in the Battle Pass. They dole it out in Weekly Challenges. And even if you complete them all, you still won’t earn enough currency for the next Battle Pass. So this isn’t a surprise.

Re: As Rumoured, Mortal Kombat 1's First DLC Pack Adds Homelander, Peacemaker, and More

Stevemalkpus

The last fighting game that I purchased at launch was Tekken Tag Tournament for the PS2, but Homelander, Peacemaker and Omni Man have made the new Mortal Kombat a must have as soon as released. I’m honestly surprised by the number of people that are unfamiliar with the characters. The Amazon series aside, The Boys was a brilliant comic by Garth Ennis coming after his hugely popular series Preacher. Ennis is a major talent and I thought more people would know The Boys. And James Gunn turned a minor character from Suicide Squad into probably the best series set in the DC Universe. I cannot wait for this and hope future DLC is similar.

High on Life with my son on his Steam Deck. It’s a bit repetitive but if you enjoy Rick and Morty the character interaction and constant chatter from the gun is amusing. Luckily Justin Rolland started his own game company, so I guess he can’t get cancelled from that at least. Also Alan Wake on Extra. Never played it when it was first released because it was an XBOX exclusive. Maybe because I played so many games from that era I have no problem with the combat mechanics. Really looking forward to the sequel but I wish there were going to be a physical release.

Re: Price of Fortnite's V-Bucks Set to Change in Select North American Regions, UK Because Inflation

Stevemalkpus

Push Square hasn’t mentioned it, but this comes right after Epic eliminated the daily rewards for logging into the Save the World mode, which was my primary method of accumulating V-Bucks (outside of the Battle Pass). Once a week, the daily rewards were at least 150 V-Bucks, sometimes 300, 800 or 1000, just for logging into the game. I have amassed an impressive collection of skins and emotes over the past three years, all for free except for the initial purchase of the Save the World mode. To raise the real money cost of V-Bucks immediately after eliminating a perk that has been there since the beginning is a scummy move by Epic.
