Re: Poll: Is Cyberpunk 2077's Poor PS4 Performance Acceptable?

Wesker

@get2sammyb Yeah, that game was delayed by a month, though. There are definitely other factors like who the publisher is and how much of a hurry they're in to get it out in time for the holidays. It's just a general rule of thumb.

I spent about four months without stable internet not that long ago and buying new games was a nightmare. A lot of games go gold in really shoddy states, but they work miracles for the day one patch, and it's not a problem as long as you can download it.

Re: Poll: Is Cyberpunk 2077's Poor PS4 Performance Acceptable?

At this point, games launching with performance issues is part and parcel with AAA game development. If you want to be in the first wave of players then you’ll have to accept those issues. Players that pick it up later will pay less and have a more polished game, but they won't be part able to participate in the hype and peak conversation about the game. The choice is yours as a consumer...

Re: Poll: Would You Pay $70 for a Brand New PS5 Game?

Wesker

Yes, I have no problem with the way things are going. You pay more for a game, but it keeps you entertained way longer. New games for Mega Drive / SNES were extortionately expensive. And forget about the the NEO GEO. Gamers today have it easy.

@carlos82 yeah sounds like it’s worth playing for those reasons, the gameplay improvements like you mentioned, production quality and attention to detail. Just a pity this isn’t a landmark in video game history like the first one. Neither was Uncharted 4 to be honest. Naughty Dog’s PS4 output hasn’t been as important as it’s PS3 efforts like TLOU and Uncharted 2.

Re: Talking Point: The Last of Us 2 Spoilers Discussion

@carlos82 at the end of TLOU Joel made a decision. He followed his heart and put his own self-interest above the greater good. Then he lied to Ellie, the person he was meant to care for the most. He chose for them to live a lie instead of facing the brutal truth. How they told this story was wonderful, revealing basic human instincts and the fragility of the relationship between self and society. How without hope, there is no reason to care for others...

Now all I’m getting from Part 2 is violence begets violence, gotta break the cycle. That’s something I learned in primary school. Also respect the feelings and rights of 🏳️‍🌈 people. Again, pretty basic stuff. I really get the feeling they had no inspiration for Part 2, so they just decided to make a shocking plot twist then map onto it some virtue signalling.

I was waiting for a thread like this. I loved TLOU 1 even though I wouldn’t say the gameplay is the best, especially the boss fights and repetitiveness, but anyway, it’s just about the best, most moving ending to a video game ever. Absolutely nails it, in a way that stuck with me for a long time.

Now I know they killed Joel in the first few hours of the game, I’ve seen how they did it. Screw them. I have read through all the text and all the comments and just don’t understand why. It seems like they destroyed a great story to serve a lesser one. I will have to play it one day, but unless I’m missing something, I just don’t see the purpose of it.

Re: Of Course The Last of Us 2 Is Being Review Bombed

Wesker

There was a time I was looking forward to this game, but the conclusion of TLOU was so perfect, I don’t particularly want to debase that feeling with what appears to be a controversial effort on their part. I’ll wait and see, maybe once a spoiler thread gets up and running here on PS, I can see how bad it is.

Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Launches on PS5, PS4 in Holiday 2020

Wesker

I'm not interested. It's just going to be a new overlay for the same game. The worlds are too big, and the missions too mundane. It's all paint by number from one location to the next. They need to focus less on the scope because it leads to regurgitating the same stuff again and again, and try to forge something original that better intertwines the setting, the characters, the story and the gameplay.

Re: Soapbox: I Wish I Was Growing Up with Games Now

Wesker

Some of those games you mentioned like For Honor and Steep aren't better than their classic counterparts like Street Fighter 2 or 1080 Snowboarding. The graphics are better but the gameplay is not as engaging. Even with updates they would not have kept me more occupied than my MegaDrive or N64 games. And LOL at getting stuck in the Water Temple.

Re: PS Store's April Sale Brings Excellent Selection of Deals to Europe and USA

Wesker

Interesting comments section lol. Just want to add that disposable income for games doesn’t always depend on age and salary. You can be grown up, have a high salary, a nice house, nice car, all the lastest mod cons, and still be scrounging around for a free game or a big discount just because you’ve squeezed your personal entertainment dollar so much. So don’t assume that they are a kid or poor.

Re: Guide: Best Resident Evil Games Ranked

4 is the best. I couldn’t believe it when I played it. Totally reset my expectations for future games. The story, the characters, the gameplay, the pacing, the atmosphere, the length, the variety... everything was on point
