I get it, he's bitter. Days Gone was a great game that really got treated as a failure and that has to hurt. Still, way to make a dick of yourself publicly.

Kudos to Sony for still supporting those who can't afford a PS5 upgrade. I was an early adopter but, honestly, it just feels like a fancier way to play existing games. There's no revolution in gaming, it just looks nicer and loads faster. Previous next-gen consoles would always have all these flashy games that only their generation coud run. I think a lot of it is down to how people play games now. With a lot of gamers using gaming PCs, the expectation of new games is just to be higher res and faster framerate rather than any big revolution.

I love this. A harmless way for people to experience catharsis but at the same time, sending a clear message

the intro and premise had me so excited then I saw a very generic game with a good voice-over. Hope I'm wrong, will check out the Steam demo

After 7 years membership, I quit

I think consumers are just getting smarter. So many recent big games have launched in broken states and required updates. Who wants to pay money to be a game tester? Also, everyone knows todays $80 game is going to be at least down to $50 within three months, so you're paying extra to play a poorer version of the game.

What next? Will the winner start celebrating with a coke?

Agreed. I know Push Square always republished reviews of any upcoming PS Plus games but this time it does feel misleading. That said, it's not like it would put anyone off buying it when the game is about to be given to most of us for free

Already have the Star Wars game, got it when it was super cheap. Not my thing but appreciate how good it is for that sort of thing. Metroidvania ain't my thing either but might check out Fallout 76 now it's had a world of patches

@CutchuSlow to be fair, the main game will be heavily discounted on the PS store within about 3 months and willbe running much better by then anyway. Those who want to pay top whack to playtest a game get the fleecing they deserve.

Imagine how you'd feel if you smacked down all that cash and the game turned out to be awful? Plus, I remembered getting the special edition of 7 Remake when it was on special offer, naively thinking the art book would be a PDF or Kindle file and the soundtrack would be a flac or mp3 download. Nope, they were just apps for the Playstation that provided me with seconds of enjoyment.

I'd really like a date for Wild Hunt on PS5 but maybe that's just me being an old fuddy duddy

Even as someone who uses his laptop for gaming more than his PS5, I still find this whole article is an anagram of sloblocks. Gaming PCs are way more expensive than PS5s. If you can't afford the new price then you probably couldn't afford the old one either

I'm torn. As someone who never bought P5R it would seem a great time to get it but I'm also loathe to support the game when they're not offering existing users at least a cheap upgrade option

@SpaceDonkey @GREGORIAN I know it baffles me. Are they running it at a loss perhaps as an advert for their skills and perhaps lending discreet assistance to other developers?

@MiaowMinx yes, they did that to me once. The audiobook was not available any more but when I searched the store it was still there and I could not spot any difference.

What worries me is that we seem to be heading into losing so much art (music, games, film) if we only release them digitally. It's going to be a repeat of all those lost films and TV shows of the 20th century.

@ah41 yeah, Apple have taken "purchases" out of my library without telling me. Must have been ten years ago that I learned the lesson the hard way.

It's a lovely idea until you remember that Nintendo will spend years developing Smash Bros and then obsessively tweaking and balancing it for years afterwards while this will be banged together in the basement in six months and get two patches made by the work experience kid whose desk is in an actual cupboard.
