@Jimmer-jammer I agree with you there. Personally, I’ve gravitated more towards the atmosphere, world-building, character-building and feedback loop of the games rather than other aspects of it. I adore the games as a whole but I did indeed get the same feeling you did.

Personally, I’m on two minds here. I like the formula, DS1 and DS3 are frankly two of my favorite games of all time, and I encourage creativity within any genre or subgenre and seeing new ideas from new blood, but I could not find a non-FS soulslike to gravitate towards. Except for Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight which has now become my favorite 2D game of all time and I revisit it quite often, so I’m incredibly grateful to discover it through Push Square 8 years ago when the trailer for it was posted here. Found it quite enchanting it and bought it day 1.
