I don't see what is so great about this game. It's incredibly tedious how you play through the same exact areas multiple times and anyone who's watched a post apocalyptic movie or two should see the twist coming from a mile away. It was a slog to get through if not for the combat.
@Sakisa Yeah because a year of console exclusivity is just the same exact thing as buying up entire publishers and making previously multiplatform franchises permanently exclusive. The original was exclusive to Playstation 2 for a while as well.
I really wish it was someone other than Bloober remaking it. Silent Hill should be made by a Japanese studio. We have enough Western developed horror games.
@__jamiie You talk about Sony putting games like GoWR on Ps4 as a bad thing even though it has already shown that doesn't have an impact on development seeing as how Forbidden West is the best looking next gen game available ATM and it's the dreaded cross gen. Then you try and say Series S is current gen because it can run some cross gen games at 120fps lol? The hypocrisy. Even developers have come and said that Series S will hold Series X back because of its far weaker GPU and massive RAM reduction. The only games that run at 120fps on Series S are cross gen lower end games. Series S is supposed to be a 1440p console and it can barely run AAA cross gen games at that resolution.
Halo Infinite can literally drop down to 540p on it's 120fps mode on Series S and that's a last gen first party game. Real next gen indeed!
People need to stop whining about live service games. Tons of people love Destiny, Fortnite, Apex, etc. Even Assassin's Creed Valhalla is considered live service. If they're done right there's nothing wrong with them.
Some people on this site are just insufferable. You'd think Sony killed their parents with how people are acting over a remaster/remake that we don't even know anything about yet.
@IonMagi Oh yes the revenue leader in the industry that makes tons of profit each year is just so close to bankruptcy. Every platform holder is down this year because no one is locked in their house anymore wasting every penny on video games. They're literally the 4th wealthiest company in Japan in terms of market cap. Have you ever used a shred of fact in anything you've ever said?
@IonMagi Oh wishful thinking must make you so happy. Sony makes much more revenue than Xbox and Nintendo and a couple billion pure profit every year. Also you must not know of this company named Nintendo that doesn't even upgrade the games it ports at full price. Didn't realize you have to buy every game ported and can't just ignore them though. Lol you prove my point even more so by saying that Wii U games aren't BC with Switch. At least Sony was consumer friendly enough to put BC and even add a 60fps patch for Horizon.
How about people actually wait to see if this is real first and if so how it's packaged? Or how about just ignoring it if you're fine with the original? Just a thought. People cry about outrage news nowadays but so many of you seem to love being outraged.
@IonMagi Because MS is just doing such a great job with their own first party games right? MS has so little creativity they have to buy out 3rd party publishers and run them just as bad as their first party studios. Even if this is real they already released a 60FPS patch for HZD so just don't buy it. It's hilarious how atrocious your takes are.
@Bleachedsmiles Streaming will never be the future. Latency is an issue that cannot be fixed by any technology we know of. We're limited by the speed of light and unless you live within a few miles of a server then you will always see noticeable latency. And this is with single player games, multiplayer games where you have to connect to another external server compounds it immensely. Phones, consoles, and PC's are selling better than ever for gaming. Game streaming will never be more than a side benefit.
@Dr_Luigi Psychonaughts is not AAA and Flight Sim is a port of a game from 2021. Halo is a dumpster fire too. And judging from the people in this thread apparently none of those count because they're last gen as well. Why even add Deathloop when MS had nothing to do with it and it launched as a Sony exclusive lol?
@Play Keep moving the goal posts. Because Deathloop is just so amazing being next generation only while Elden Ring is just trash being multi gen. Even RE4 is multi gen and looks fantastic.
@Play You realize GT and Horizon both came out earlier this year right? Then GoW next month. Do you even think before you post? When has MS even released two AAA games in a year nevermind 3.
@IonMagi Lmao you don't even know what you're talking about. It was performance mode that had some graphical oddities. Games will always have loading times. You dont know even the slightest bit about game development. You just have to say something negative and you grasp so hard. Its embarrassing.
@IonMagi How are the games downgraded? This isn't ps1 anymore where next generations actually had a major difference. Forbidden West looks better than any other game released so far and its multi gen. Elden Ring must be terrible since its also on last gen right? Hilarious how you defend MS who has gone the entire year without a major first party release. 2023 Ps5 has tons of exclusive games like Spiderman 2. FF16, Forspoken, and plenty more. Lol you really mentioning deathloop as a MS game? It was already mostly complete before MS even bought Bethesda.
@IonMagi Uh how many major games have they released this year already? Not their fault most fell in the early half of the year. I know you're a cringy troll but you're grasping. Should replace Sony with MS in that sentence.
@Agramonte Exactly. I have a great PC and I just got a Ps5 because I didn't want to wait to play Forbidden West and GoW Ragnarok. I even bought GoW since it was only $10 on console and has never been lower than $40 on Steam so I don't need it to look as best as possible. As long as it runs at 60 fps I'm good.
They've already said 2 years is about the sweet spot for their ports and the game is already a year and a half old. It's hilarious how people get mad about ports or how the fanboys use it as a dig yet ignore Xbox's day 1 ports. The hypocrisy.
@Tasuki I literally replied to your question about fanboyism. Either way how in the world would your "precious" MS improve CoD when they can't even improve their own franchises? Their main system seller is doing abysmal and trashed by fans everywhere even when it's free. The entire reason why they spend billions to buy publishers is because they can't make great franchises on their own.
@11001100110zero The irony of talking about salt when every post of yours is a salt response to someone saying something negative about MS or a franchise they own. I don't understand why fanboys come on a PS site and play defend my favorite billion dollar corporation. You literally defended Mixer your so biased LOL!
6 is by far the worst in the series. It literally took good things from the series and made them worse. 3 will probably always be the best, but 5 is super underrated. A fantastic nuanced villain and solid gameplay make it absolutely worth playing.
@Somebody Lol you're right, permanent exclusivity is their major focus instead. And no they couldn't. They had to pay $100 million for one year of a Tomb Raider game, Elden Ring would have cost them a billion. I love how Xbox fans are always moving the goal posts. Either way they do it just as much as Sony if not more so and they do even worse practices like buying out 3rd party publishers. Please don't make yourself look foolish and try to argue they're the good guys here.
This is the way everyone sees it. However the reality is Microsoft is the worst company in the world and they see what Spotify did to the music industry and want to be that for gaming. So they'll tank insane amounts of money now if it means they'll be the leader in subscription based gaming in the future. Somehow they think 200 million people will subscribe to their service and it will never happen, they're at what 30 million with both PC and Xbox combined and that's when they're giving away the service for free essentially. There isn't that many hardcore gamers and casuals could care less about subscribing when they buy a handful of games a year. In the end Microsoft will never see the numbers they want and either games will be drastically changed to cater to subscription style monetization or prices will be increased. It may take time, but it will undoubtedly happen.
I don't see a big deal here. PSVR is compatible with Ps5 so just keep the thing in the closet if you want to play an old VR game every now and then. It's not like it has any resell value. PSVR2 is just so fundamentally different than the original it makes sense it would take a team to port each game for the new tech. It's not simple emulation like BC.
I swear if they just remade The Second Story with a graphics budget similar to Tales Of Arise the game would sell like crazy and they'd have a ton more interest in the series.
Its probably a direct port of the PC version which also is stuck at 30fps. Still had fun with the game though. Even though it's an action JRPG it's still not that big of a deal.
@Royalblues Uncharted doesn't sell consoles? TLOU doesn't sell consoles? Horizon, GoW, Gran Turismo, etc. All of those games sell at least 5 million copies and go as high as 20 million. They have massive IP's that absolutely sell consoles, just none are as big as CoD and GTA because those are the two biggest standouts in the industry. You talk about exclusive modes and content, guess who started the DLC wars? That's right MS during the 360 gen!
Anyone who defends MS in this is a blatant fanboy. You have a company that couldn't make great games on their own to compete so now they've gone and bought up two massive 3rd party publishers and dozens of multiplatform IP's with the sole intention to make them exclusive to force people to buy an Xbox. Using conglomerate money to consolidate and ruin and industry is one of the worst things that could happen to gaming. CoD is the biggest IP in gaming and has tremendous pull. The door is now open for Amazon, Apple, Google, and anyone else to just buy up anything they want to force themselves in as market leaders.
People who try to call this "competition" are living in fantasy land. There's a major difference between putting out great games and services and having people choose your platform and buying up 3rd party IP's using conglomerate money to force people into your platform if they want to keep playing the games they love. It still makes me laugh when I see the same people in here trying to say "SONY DOES SAME THING". Pretty sure Sony has never bought a 3rd party publisher to make IP's permanently exclusive.
This is pure laziness by the devs. With Ps5's Kraken compression tech and the speed of SSD's there's no excuse why they couldn't get this game to be a much smaller size.
@Godot25 Literally everything you've said Xbox has done far worse. The one thing Sony or even Nintendo has never done is buy out 3rd party publishers because they can't even compete normally. The worst part of this is MS is using conglomerate money, none of which that even come from the gaming industry, to buy up these publishers. That just opens the door for anyone to come in and buy anything they want to make themselves a market leader. Some of you have no clue of what you're talking about.
@IonMagi And the cringe king doesn't disappoint. MS could have invested that $70 billion into an insane amount of genres and new IP's instead of buying out 3rd party publishers because they're so terrible at making new IP's. Your takes are absolute garbage.
