They announced days before the event that they were going to show off a hand full of PSVR games, show some indies and 3rd party games and end it with a long Suicide Squad demo - even put a blog post up. They showed exactly what they said they were going to show- not sure why people were expecting more

Have the Horizon: Call of the Mountain bundle reserved - that along with Gran Turismo 7 and No Man Sky and Resident Evil 8 (all free downloads btw) - should be an epic first weekend! Think I'm going to get that Kayak game too - looks gorgeous! I remember when PSVR1 first came out (I sold my entire DVD movie collection (600+) to pay for it) I was blown away then with Arkham VR, Rush of Blood and Star Wars VR mission with where video games were going. Yeah it was a bit blurry and nauseating at first - but it was such a new experience in immersion. PSVR2 from what I've seen seems to be lightyears ahead of the original - I've seen some say it is even better then the high end PC rigs. Only a couple weeks to go!

Really hope they do a big showcase soon - but the pending activision deal might prevent them from doing that

Spider-Man 2 this holiday season is going to do gangbusters!

Can't wait to see Sony put it free on Gamepass while leaving us hanging on Plus again!

Wishful thinking but I hope they reward your past achievements and games purchased. I’ve got a library of nearly 500 games purchased on ps4/ps5.

I know they said they don't want to do day 1 releases - but putting it on the new PS Plus out of the gate would certainly help make sure the new launch is a smash hit!

I purchased it on base PS4 on release and returned it immediately. I rebought it later when Best Buy had the collector's edition on sale for $10 - but never touched it again. Was waiting for this PS5 update - but it doesn't look much better

@get2sammyb there's no doubt the main switch is a home console/handheld hybrid, but there shouldn't be any doubt that the Lite is not. Nintendo themselves list it as a dedicated handheld on their own website

Has it really? Not sure why they're getting away with combining Switch & Switch Lite sales. Because Nintendo calls the Lite a Switch - what exactly does it "switch" from? One is a home console / handheld hybrid, the other a dedicated handheld. If Sony or Microsoft released a handheld today that played 99.99% of the games that the PS5 / Xbox series played - you're telling me those sales would be combined? GTFO!

People always whine and complain about the offerings on PS Plus- but it really is a great service. So far this year we've gotten:

-Shadow of the Tomb Raider
-Control: Ultimate Edition
-Final Fantasy VII Remake
-Days Gone
-Battlefield V
-Star Wars: Squadrons
-Black Ops 4
-Hitman 2
-Mortal Kombat X

And many, many more games.

On top of that - I've saved hundreds - if not thousands of dollars over the years with PS Plus discounts on games throughout the year.

The service really pays for itself - and is without a doubt far superior to Xbox's counterpart Xbox Live.

Now if only Sony would revamp PSNow to include PS5 games, as well as additional first party content. I'm not expecting them to released day in date like Microsoft does - but I think they can do better.

It would be really cool if they gave us a bundle of both services, or added a couple of PSNow rental games each month to the PS Plus offerings somehow.

I remember after the initial gameplay was shown that the game got a lot of flack - glad it's getting good reviews. I've only played the first 30 minutes or so but so far it's been really fun exploring the ship and hearing the conversations amongst the crew

They haven’t officially announced the winner yet. Don’t be surprised if they say GTAV won because the votes on the IGN site were suddenly skewed heavily to GTAV’s favor (nearly 10:1) before the deadline- even though the other sites had GOW at nearly a 2:1 lead. They still let the votes continue after the deadline though - that’s why it shows GOW winning now- so it will depend on timing of when the vote count ended.

Maybe - but it's got to be the right game for the right developer. I'd be worried that if Insomniac keeps doing them then they'll suffer the same fate as Tell Tale.

Sony showcases usually deliver the goods - E3 2015 and 2016 were legendary! 2017 and 2018 not so much, but then they skipped the last 3 years in favor of their own events. Last year's PS5 showcases were pretty great - think this one has the potential to be even better.

The PS5 version includes the dualsense added features - advanced haptic feedback and adaptive triggers - which is not just a simple patch. You have to hire additional developers to implement those features. $10 extra to cover that support to me is not that big of a deal - you're paying for the extra work that the developers put in. Microsoft isn't charging extra because they aren't adding those extra features - they literally did nothing new or special with their new controllers and it is esentially the same as last gen - so why would you compare the two?

@mucc and they've had at least three State of Plays this year so far - on top of releasing quality games throughout the year - it's not like they are being quiet

They haven't done a Gamecom press conference in years - I think 2014 was the last time they did one. There were recent patent updates on PlayStation Expierience - so hopefully they have their own big show sometime soon.

Definitely seemed like a “ok let’s get these out of the way” kind of show. Hopefully a much larger PSX show is on the horizon- with a God of War trailer, Horizon Forbidden West release date and other surprises.

PS5 launch lineup is a lot better then what the PS4 had at this point

I refunded mine on PS4 just as soon as I could - completely unplayable

They use it for multiple types of showings - similar to Nintendo directs vs. mini directs vs. indie directs. Sony has been using the State of Plays for showcases of upcoming games, but then do smaller State of Plays for specific games right before they release. I think they've done a good job labeling each one as to not confuse the fanbase or overhype the event. I don't see any problem with how they've been doing it.

The game has been surprisingly good so far - solid 8 for me. Even with the delay I was still expecting it to be a buggy mess out of the gate - but it looks and plays beautifully. The gameplay is fun and addictive. Very reminiscent of the old Twisted Metal games. Think it’s a solid start and can only get better from here as they add more and more characters, cars, game modes and locations.

Some tips to getting one guys -
1 - download the Hot Stock app
2 - set an alert for the PS5 - that app will alert you the moment it is available on any of the vendor sites
3 - (and probably the most critical step) - make sure you already have your account and credit card information set up on all of the major vendor sites (Best Buy, Walmart, Gamestop, Target, etc.) - if you wait to start filling that info out when they go live you'll never be able to get it through your cart and checkout process.
