I'm surprised, yet happy, that this game isn't going offline after one season.
Personally, I've been having lots of fun with this game. But it seems it has a small player base because it takes a long time to find enough players for a lobby.
@get2sammyb You're absolutely right that I'm being pedantic. I'm being this way because I think minor details and rules for reviews should be consistent across the board.
I do understand your reasoning a bit more now though, so thanks for the response.
@Impossibilium again, I saw that. I'm questioning why it's worth mentioning for this game and not any other?
For example, in the NHL 24 review why not say: "It's trite to say that a game isn't for everyone in a review since that could broadly be said about any video game, but it's worth mentioning that if you're not a fan of hockey then perhaps this isn't a game for you."
@OldGamer999 Xbox will probably market all their games by saying an Xbox console is still the best way to play. So they can hope to at least maintain decent hardware sales with this marketing strategy. Plus they know that there will always be the hardcore Xbox fans, like many of the PureXbox users, who will buy Xbox no matter what.
My guess: Xbox first party games to be available day 1 on Game Pass. Then they will be releasing as full price games on PlayStation a few months after that.
I thought this was a dumb game when it was announced. Me and a friend played the beta just for the laughs but then ended up actually having a lot of fun with it. I'm excited to play the full game!
They've been doing a lot of casting announcements this week. When they did the casting announcements for season 1 it was 23 months before season 1 started airing.
So using that same time frame, season 2 will be released end of 2025 or beginning of 2026.
@Nem I would say Nintendo isn't really direct competition with PlayStation. I don't think someone owning a Switch would stop them from owning a PS5. People buy Nintendo for Pokemon, Mario, Zelda, etc. The general gaming audience who mostly just plays CoD and other FPS games and sports games play on PlayStation, PC, or Xbox. Eliminating one of those three just creates less competition.
This isn't a good thing. The industry needs healthy competition. If Xbox dismantled, as @Member_the_game suggested, that would be a bad thing for gamers.
It's a $10 upgrade with plenty of new content that is completely optional to purchase. Yet people are still finding ways to complain. The internet is a wild place.
@AaronBayne Is it possible to play a game on the Portal while having your PS5 running a different application? For example, can I play NHL 24 on PS Portal and have an NHL game streaming on my PS5 SportsNet app?
@GamingFan4Lyf Just saw you mention Days Gone Remastered in your hypothetical situation and now I can't stop thinking about how awesome it would be to get a Remaster of Days Gone. But I know it'll sadly never happen.
Something I noticed from the new update that isn't mentioned is that when your account level increases, you get a notification very similar to a trophy notification.
@KaijuKaiser Well for the most part, reviews are subjective*. Just because one reviewer dislikes it, doesn't mean that another reviewer will too, and vice versa. Review scores mean very little to me for this reason. This is why I would never make a purchasing decision based off review scores. There's plenty of games that review well that I don't like, and plenty of games that review poorly that I love.
*I say "for the most part" because sometimes games are almost unanimously disliked because they are objectively bad due to being broken or having dated gameplay, like Redfall and Gollum.
I don't mind Phil Spencer, I just don't like all his hypocrisy. He says "We look forward to a future where players globally have more choice to play their favorite games." Meanwhile, the ABK deal is literally doing the exact opposite.
@AhmadSumadi I'm the same way. The only movie trailers I'll watch are movies that I don't know anything about at all. This way I can get an idea of what the movie is like to judge if I'll like it. If I at least know the general idea of the movie, then I'll avoid the trailers. Same thing for games.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't want anymore Spider-Man 2 information. I want to go into the game with as little knowledge as possible so that there's more surprises for me.
Most gamers, who are not the niche market on sites like this, who watched the showcase, or will watch clips of it on YouTube, will associate these games with PlayStation now. Xbox will also show off some third-party games at their showcase. It will have the same effect for the general gaming audience, but in Xbox's favour. Showing off third party games is not a bad thing!
@Quintumply Reading the review and seeing the pictures makes me think of the Anomaly Clank Puzzles in Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart. Is it anything like those?
This game and trophy list look like a lot of fun. But it's not something I want to spend $90 CAD on. I was expecting it to be around $50 like Hot Wheels Unleashed was at release.
@get2sammyb @NEStalgia So what were the games streamed on? Did Google have it's own device that exclusively streamed Stadia games?
I sure hope that streaming isn't the future of video games. I don't like having to rely on internet connectivity and using bandwidth to play a game. Not to mention the decreased performance of a streamed game versus a downloaded game.

I've been looking forward to this game for a long time. I can't wait to finally get to experience it tomorrow.
Re: Upcoming PS5 Games for March and April 2024
Open Roads comes out March 28, 2024. I've been anticipating this game for a long time. It's not even on this list.

Re: Mini Review: Pentiment (PS5) - A Slow-Burning 16th-Century Murder Mystery
Every game, or any form of media, is not for everyone. Why is that a negative point for this game?

Re: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Previews Are Far from Positive
I played and beat the alpha and very much enjoyed it overall. My only complaint was pacing.

Re: DLC Review: God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla (PS5) - An Essential Epilogue for Fans of the Series
Started this last night and I was surprised how good it is!
Re: The Last of Us Multiplayer Project Is Officially Cancelled
I'm so sad about this. I was really looking forward to this. Factions was one of my favourite ever multiplayer modes in any game.
I respect their reasoning though. They'd rather focus on singleplayer experiences than become a live service games studio.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 505
Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League alpha. Then when I finish that I'll go back to The Crew Motorfest.
Re: PS Plus Essential Games for December 2023 Announced
All three of these games are on my PS Store wishlist. I'm very happy with this!

@LiamCroft FYI a typo in the article I noticed is that it says 2pm ET / 5pm ET. I think you mean 2pm PT.
Re: PlayStation Portal Is Sony's PS5 Remote Play Handheld, Priced at $200 / £200
The price of the PlayStation Portal is better than I expected. I'll probably get one later this year when it releases.

Re: Round Up: What Was Announced at Ubisoft Forward 2023?
For me, personally, this Ubisoft showcase had more I'm interested in than the Xbox and PlayStation showcases combined.

Re: What the Hell Is Going on with The Last of Us Factions, Naughty Dog's Standalone PS5 Multiplayer Game?
@Nemoy16 My name isn't nobody.
Re: Round Up: What Was Announced at the PlayStation Showcase?
Not a bad list. This showcase was exactly what I was expecting it to be. So I'm not disappointed but also not at all blown away.
Re: Feature: Take Part in the PlayStation Showcase Predictions Quiz
I answered "no" to 20+ questions. I guess I have low expectations for this showcase.
Re: PlayStation Showcase Finally Announced for 24th May
The Last of Us Factions? Pretty please?!

Re: Poll: What's the Best PlayStation Startup Sequence?
PS1. The only console startup screen that even comes close to rivalling GameCube.
Re: Google Stadia's Biggest Exclusive GYLT Is Coming to PS5, PS4
@get2sammyb @NEStalgia So what were the games streamed on? Did Google have it's own device that exclusively streamed Stadia games?
I sure hope that streaming isn't the future of video games. I don't like having to rely on internet connectivity and using bandwidth to play a game. Not to mention the decreased performance of a streamed game versus a downloaded game.
