Makes me glad I bought a disc version, the DE is just a giant money pit.. "BuT i BuY DiScOuNTeD cReDiT" still doesn't make up for the fact discs will always be cheaper, Digital is great for Indie and AAs but anything else and they are just taking people for granted

Amazon Prime day in the UK in a couple weeks, they usually sell 15 month memberships for about £40, thats what I'll be waiting for as usual

I think this is one area that Sony could do really well in, they already have the best selling VR headset and thats pretty basic. If GamePass is MS' future, then I think potentially Sonys may well be in VR, depends on how much they are invested in it as a product.

I wouldnt be surprised if it was a couple of big games since its the last full month before next gen arrives, hopefully one of them is a "spooky" one. Alien Isolation would be a great shout, I really want that to get a PS5 upgrade, but thats wishful thinking on my part!

Isnt BB part of the PS+ Collection on the PS5, so would that be this rumored version or the original ps4 "boosted" to new gen specs.. Thats the only thing that makes me doubt this story

@Possessed Any sources for the "half the ps5 exclusives coming to pc" or is that something you've just made up? Also not everyone one has the space, the time, the money or the inclination to be bothered with keeping up with PC updates and their high prices.

Is this a big deal? Yes, will it matter for the next 2 -3 years? Probably not. Plenty of time for Sony to invest in games and other developers if they wish. As it stands it took far longer for X box Pre-Orders to sell out than PS5 ones even after this announcement.

And games media / news is generally US based and more biased towards MS and Nintendo so it always seems like anything MS do is bigger better than it actually is.

Didnt Phil "the Gamer" Spencer say not just a few weeks ago they weren't interested in console wars and 3rd party games.. I wonder what changed in those few short weeks.

I hate Bethesda games anyway so doesn't affect me, but damn they aint playing this is an industry wide earthquake, meanwhile Jim Ryan is over here for Sony shouting about how old fashioned they're business plan is and that they won't change. I don't think Sony will be leading this gen like we all they thought they would.

Im not really very fond of Jim Ryan after this week, I think he will harm Sonys image more than do it good.

I think they need someone more open minded and more "gamer focused" to be guided a bit better, this guy just seems like a man in a suit whose played PacMan a few times making decisions based on past success while ignoring the present and the future.

Damn, I hope they release PS5 game compatible SSD's sooner rather than later

TBF i wanted (and did) play more from the PS4 line up than the PS5 one.

Its pretty rotten for Sony to suddenly do this, they should rightfully be criticised for it, It did make me stumble about pre-ordering earlier, between that and the other lie about giving you plenty of notice for Pre-Orders and then the mess of lack of info about when and where you could pre-order from, it certainly took the shine off what was an excellent showcase. They shouldn't get arrogant or complacent about this gen (and they are coming off that way) MS are coming hard this time round.

@Paranoimia Yeh im having the same issue too, I registered interest with them as soon as you could but no email or notification about it

Im just expecting gameplay of Miles Morales, Demons Souls, Bugsnax and some extended trailers for a couple other games and the price / pre order / release date info, anything else and its a nice surprise. With everything going in the world, it feels good to have a bit of normality and something to look forward to.

The one thing im wondering about is if they keep to the 1 Dollar for 1 whatever currency, it was a bit of a shock to see MS not do this with their next gen pricing.

Bloomberg pushing a negative rumour a day before the big PS5 event? hmmm something smells vinegary about this and its not the PS5 chips.

Im getting me some snacks for this event, some good game play of announced titles, a quick look at the UI, a possible tease of a new game and the all important price / pre order / release info, is all im hoping for. My bank account is trembling already.

@Iroha Fair enough I fully believe Sony were hoping to release at £500 but after yesterday just makes it a bit more tricky for them, so hoping they do price match.

Prince of Persia SOT of time remake / reboot pls and some new unannounced suprises. Hyperscape is pretty much dead already, Legion is out in a few weeks so not sure what else they can show that hasn't been already.

@Iroha U mean like the next gen more powerful X Box Series X at £449, cos you know thats under £500, Sony will at least need to price match them on that, they have got the games and install base to back up that price point, if they really are going to launch at £500 or more then they are going to really have to prove why its worth it, for a lot of us we will still get a PS5 at £500 but even I was really tempted by the green team for the first time yesterday.

But I do hope they price match and set the pre-order date before 22nd September as a nice little comeback.

But Happy Birthday, I went from Atari to Sega and then to Sony only skipping the PS3 gen, because life. Lots of fantastic gaming memories with hopefully lots more to come

The pressure is really on Sony now, MS are NAWT playing this new gen, Sony really cant be releasing a PS5 at more than £450 and if they do, it wont go down well I think, a "less powerful" console in the eyes of the GP that costs more than the most powerful, its bad PR right off the bat.

If they do release at more than £450 they are really really going to have to aggressively hard sell it to people, and I dont think they can, esp with the bundles, gamepass and monthly payments that MS have revealed today. I think Sony have a fight on their hands its upto them now on how they fight it. A restructured PS+ / Now bundle would be a good first step.

£249 is an insane price point, but remember this is very much a cheaper on the inside so cheaper on the outside product, next gen games running at 1080 / 60fps or 30 fps, but I suppose Halo Infinite might actually look like a next gen game on the S. Its basically a GamePass console.

Both versions of the PS5 are identical on the inside apart from a disc drive, so yes it will prob be more expensive for that reason alone, im going £350 for the digital and if Sony are smart they'll flog the PS5 for 450, infact I think they need to. Lets hope tomorrow brings some kind of announcement.

Nothing against VR, and im sure the sale will be great but this just seems not the right time to focus on VR news this week, its PlayStations 25th Birthday this week, they would be seriously foolish not to capitalise on that with some new PS5 info

If it did get delayed I wouldn't be mad, The PS4 still seems like its got a good bit of life in it, but on the other hand, this has been the one thing a lot of people have been looking forward to this year (me included) People are just getting restless about the price and pre-order announcement, surely, SURELY with it being the 25th Anniversary of PlayStation this week, we will hear something, they need to.

Hmmmm £30 brand new on disc for TLOU2 or £45 quid for the digital version... that is the reason right there that I will never buy an all digital PS5

Honestly SF V is a really good fun game, I bought it on disc at launch, so im looking forward to replacing it with a digital version, PUBG I dont care about at all, tbh I thought it was free already as its a Battle Royale

I think people are starting to really get a bit fed up waiting on a price to be released by both Sony and MS, they just need to peel off that plaster and get it over and done with whatever it is.

This sounds horrible, controllers are fragile and expensive enough without people being tricked that their controller is broke, not downplaying the impressive technology behind it, but I hope they give us the option to turn this stuff off like rumble

Maybe this is where we will hear about the PS5 release date? then the following week news about price and Pre-Orders from Sony themselves, but looking forward to it anyway, It will be nice to have a big games show this year

Im ignoring all sales from now on, any spare money I have is going towards Next Gen stuff. I bought Borderlands 3 last week as my last PS4 game to buy.

I dont even play COD and im exhausted by it all, we all know its called Cold War, just get on with it

Aside from Overcooked, these are literally the first 4 games I want to buy for the PS5! Im not sure about the big white bit at the top, I think it needs to be smaller, but they at least match the aesthetic of the PS5 with the 2 tone white and blue design.

I really hope that rumour about 4k game problems is a load of old nonsense, cos that would be quite bad for a true next gen console.
