Re: This Use of PSVR2's Eye Tracking Is Truly Terrifying

ralphdibny

Oh awesome, didn't realise they were doing a dark pictures VR.

I thought Until Dawn was good but Rush of Blood as a separate experience was actually amazing. I don't usually get scared by the usual horror tropes (I'm more fearful of realistic horror, themes of madness, lack of control etc) but Rush of Blood terrified me with traditional horror in a way I didn't think possible.

Also, I wonder how well eye tracking works if you drop an E beforehand and your pupils are the size of black holes

Happy new year PS to all the staff and the community.

It's great to read the articles and I love the community. It's been a source of great support for me when I've been brave enough to reach out. Thank you all, staff members and community members alike.

As much as it can do, this place feels like home 🧡

Re: PlayStation Will Pay You to Provide Customer Support on Its Behalf

I am certain that customers will get better support from fellow users that are incentivised to help them with money. No doubting that.

But, this feels so freaking gross. I do wonder if they will roll it out in the UK. A gig economy for tech support. My one and only hope if they do roll it out in the UK, is that it completely backfires on them a couple years down the line when the workers unionise and campaign to get the basic workers rights because that is what they are. Including NMLW, even though they deserve more.

If you are UK based and are considering it in its current state, I am pretty sure you would have to register as self employed to declare this income as well, if you earn more than £1000 from this as well as any other non salaried/PAYE income you earn.

@Party_Cannon lol I played the original recently and thought his walk was weird in the original too. Like he had a bad back or his suit or helmet were super heavy.

I just figured it was artistic and was a gimpy walk to fit with the futuristic S'n'M aesthetic of the suit he wears and the game itself. I couldn't work out if there was an in-universe explanation for it

@Mostik this is the one I use:

Just had a look again and it doesn't look like it supports PS5 out of the box, needs a firmware update and either a Magic-S Pro adapter with a firmware update or a specific third party PS4 controller (list and details on the Mayflash website)

Re: First PS1 on PS5, PS4 Analysis Drops, And There Are Highs and Lows

I remember I actually used to have a pirate copy/import disc of A Bugs Life on PS1 that my dad bought for me down the market. I had to do that disc swapping thing to get it to play where you stick blu tak on the the button at the back of the disc tray so it thinks it's closed and swap the discs when the speeds changed. I remember it would only play in black and white until I got a scart lead and then I could play it in colour 😂

My brother recently got his PS1 out of the loft only to find that the teenage version of himself had massacred the disc tray by permanently sticking the red Babybel wax into that button to hold it down. He tried to say it was mine and that I had his but I wasn't going to fall for that 😂.

We had a leaked disc copy of that unreleased Thrill Kill game that apparently got banned or something too so we did the disc swapping thing for that as well

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Realistically Expect from PS5, PS4's Game Pass Inspired PS Plus Reboot?

ralphdibny

This will never happen but I wish the tiers would be completely different.

Drop the monthly games completely. Reduce the price of the base tier to something like £15/year which gives you access to online gaming only.

On that same tier, if both specific developers and Sony really want to. Release that sort of on-the-road-to-f2p style game like Rocket League/Destruction All Stars/Deep Rock Galactic as an occasional "bonus" for those who are interested. That will increase the player base of these games and allow the Devs/publishers to make their desired MTX income.

Second tier should include the above and the streaming/download rental-like subscription service that game pass is. Including any rumoured retro games and everything that's been suggested.

If they insist on fragmenting the user base further then charge a bit extra for a third tier that nets the Sony exclusives and key third party titles day one on release.

Re: Sniper Elite 5 Set to Feature Locations Inspired By Guernsey

Awesome! I went to Guernsey a few years ago. Had a nice time. Saw a slow worm that I thought was a snake until I looked it up online. Walked around the forts, bunkers and the underground hospital. Had a drive around the island on the final day and managed it in less than a couple hours. I made up a song about the Guernsey Gâche while I was there too which I sang in the car a lot. I drove through a couple shallow fords. Had a crab salad in the hotel restaurant. Visited Iceland and traded in some English money for Guernsey notes to keep as a souvenir. Overall a very enjoyable trip.
