I'll get to this one, just not immediately (too much to play right now). Glad it's doing well. I think that this game succeeding has more to do with an experienced MP studio (Arrowhead Studios) making a primarily MP game, not forcing a single player focused studio to make a live service game (Bioware, Rocksteady, Crystal Dynamics, Arkane, Naughty Dog though we thankfully avoided that bullet)

EDIT: Thinking about it now, Sony acquiring Arrowhead Game Studios might not be a bad move if they want to revive The Last of Us Online. Naughty Dog could oversee the project, while Arrowhead works on the game and content. That would allow ND to continue working on their single player games. I also think Sony will likely acquire Shift Up.

@TigerKhan I personally would much rather Indiana Jones be third person and I think the Uncharted comparisons would be good not bad. Making it first person seems like such a Bethesda move as everything they do is first person.

Whelp, this is a MS problem now, can't lay the blame on ABK anymore. When MS bought ABK, they also bought all of ABK's problems. Too bad, MS. This is what you wanted.

For me, Indiana Jones, Quantum Break, and Wolfenstein are the only ones I care about. Perhaps, Quantum Break can get a second lease on life with a PS5/PS4 version and Remedy can officially add it to the Remedy-verse. Maybe we can finally get Sunset Overdrive on Playstation too.

@colonelkilgore Not really directed at you, more at just anyone claiming the sky is falling because MS is putting their first party games on PS5 and Switch.

@somnambulance I completely agree with your assessments of FFXVI and Alan Wake II. Alan Wake II was my GOTY, followed closely by FFXVI and Spider-Man 2. FFVII Rebirth looks like it'll raise the bar even higher than those 3 titles. And while I'm not the biggest fan of FFXV, I like how it's combat system (and even going all the way back to XIII) laid the foundation for 7 Remake's/Rebirth's battle system. I kind of like Final Fantasy experimenting with different styles. It makes XVI and VII Rebirth feel like fresh, but with underlying commonalities.

This seems like a bad move....

@mikeawmids No, this is wrong. Making a sequel you don't like is no justification for death threats against anyone, let alone a mother and her child. Naughty Dog bears no responsibility for these vile actors just because they created a story that people don't like. People need to just not be *****.

@dark_knightmare2 Xbox fanboys needs someone to blame that isn't Phil Spencer or themselves. To figure out why this is happening, they only need to look in the mirror. Xbox gamers don't buy games anymore. Phil Spencer and Xbox conditioned them that way. What did they think was going to happened when they started putting $300 million games day 1 on a subscription service? If Xbox "fans" didn't want this to happen, maybe they should have actually bought their games. For years we've been seeing that Playstation and Nintendo gamers are more than happy to pay for quality.

@oliverp It does. James Bond 007 Nightfire did the same (and I love that game). But Indiana Jones appears to be primarily first person, which just seems strange for Indiana Jones.

This very much sounds like a leak that is now causing MS to panic and scrounge something together. Maybe there are in fact some merit to these rumors....

@0niguy Gears of War is not the system seller it once was. Halo, which is also rumored to be coming to PS, would be a far bigger bombshell.

@Juanalf This is not Phil's call. I think he's going to be out at Xbox within the next year, if these rumors turn out to be true.

I'll do a playthrough in English and Korean. I though the English voices were fine, but I very much prefer to play in the language that makes the most sense in the game. For A Plague Tale and AC Unity, I vastly prefer French. Ghost of Tsushima is more authentic in Japanese. But Metal Gear and Resident Evil make more sense in English as they take place in the United States and the main characters are native English speakers. This game looks like it is going to take place in a post-apocalyptic South Korea, but in the far future, so I could see both English and Korean being valid.

@Kraven It's been hinted at, for awhile, they are working on some kind of new sci-fi IP. I don't think it's the case now, but at one point I suspected it could be an adaptation of savage starlight from The Last of Us universe.

Eh, I don't need an Uncharted 1 remake. It already got a pseudo-remake in the Nathan Drake Collection. Just remaster that collection (with Golden Abyss) for PS5 and PC and the would be enough. Give me Uncharted 5 already.

That quote from Neil was filmed in April 2023. It's clear that The Last of Us Part III is at least in pre-production. Working my way through A Plague Tale: Requiem and MGS1 in the master collection. It's so satisfying hearing that trophy pop in Metal Gear Solid 1.

Not surprising at all. MS is in a distant third place in the console space with seemingly no hope of ever catching Sony and Nintendo. MS has spent nearly $100 billion in acquiring studios to compete. It makes ZERO sense to lock that content to an underperforming machine. On top of that, Starfield likely cost around $250-300 million to make. MS has to make that back somehow.

@NotSoCryptic I didn't say FFXVI wasn't a success. I said SE claimed it fell below their (absurdly high) expectations. The game sold 3 million it's first weekend, which is Sony first party numbers. The failure narrative was pushed by Xbox fanboys who claimed the game failed because it was exclusive to PS5....as if any Xbox fanboys were to actually play the game if it weren't on Game Pass.

@Matroska Final Fantasy XVI was only seen as a disappointment by Square Enix due to them thinking every game that doesn't sell 15 million copies immediately, is a disappointment. FFXVI did very well.

Clearly, we are seeing MS move towards going full third party. With all of the content they have bought, it would be very foolish to lock it to the distant third place box.

@3Above One of 2 things that make me recoil about the Indiana Jones game, the other being digitally recreating Denholm Elliott. I don't agree with using CGI to bring dead actors back to life. It was cringy when Disney did it with Peter Cushing and Carrie Fisher. Time has not made that better or okay.

@CP2 There are a lot of things happening now that we thought we'd never see. Sony is releasing their major first party games on PC. Xbox is seemingly porting Hi-Fi Rush to PS5 and Switch. Until I see definitive proof that it is not the case, I firmly believe Kojima's "new" IP is actually going to be Metal Gear Solid 6. I'm not saying it is true, but with Druckmann confirming that they aren't currently working on TLOU3, then what are the "multiple" sp games that ND has in development? Are the making multiple new IPs? If not, then likely they are working on Uncharted or Jak and Daxter. Or maybe we will be getting that TLOU Tommy spin-off game.

So, if Neil has seemingly confirmed that Naughty Dog is not currently working on The Last of Us Part III (as we all assumed they were), and they've confirmed they are working on multiple single player games, then what could they be? I believe they've confirmed there is a new IP in the works that Neil Druckmann is not a part of. So, if the other one (or ones) is not TLOU3, then odds are Naughty Dog are working on a new Jak game or Uncharted 5. I honestly would not be surprised to learn that they are remaking Uncharted 1.

This is very odd, especially, as Dreams is a game that is tailor-made for a PC release.

@Mortal I think social media needs to just go away. When has it ever really improved someone's life? As for Insomniac (and every other developer that has faced this), I hope they can block out the noise and anyone who has harassed and/or threatened them, faces the full consequences of their actions.

I'll be watching this, this weekend. The first Grounded documentary was interesting and I'm expecting the second to be even moreso.

Guess I better finish up some games to make space. Can't wait for this one (my profile picture might give away my excitement).

This is about what I expected, the game to be good, but not great with the live service elements being the culprit. The Avengers was the same way. There's a great game buried underneath the monotony and padding, but the game goes out of its way to make it a chore to get to the good stuff.

@SleeplessKnight Well, if you go by Phil Spencer's reasoning, there was a lot of first party stuff at the State of Play: Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, Death Stranding 2, Until Dawn, for example are all first party IPs, just not made by first party studios.

@eeriejungle Kojima said that will be a culmination of his entire career. He mentioned he is coming up to his 40th anniversary for entering the Games industry. I wonder if he will retire after that, especially as that game is likely 4-6 years away at this point.

This really was a great show. Getting a release date for Stellar Blade was great and we are now set for the next 3 months with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in February, Rise of the Ronin in March, and Stellar Blade in April. On top of that, a new Silent Hill game getting shadow dropped and, my god, Death Stranding 2....

This is my next most anticipated game after FF7 Rebirth. Can't wait to see more of it today.

It's honestly weird that MLB The Show (and the previous MLB series) was a Sony exclusive for as long as it was, over 20 years. It does suck that PS players have to play whereas Xbox users can play it on Game Pass, but it's the only way to get engagement from Xbox players. MS has conditioned their fans to not buy games, so selling the game at full price on Xbox would be a waste of resources for MLB and Sony.

I will not be spending my money on this game (at least not at $70). It's sad that this is Rocksteady's big follow up to the Arkham trilogy....after 9 years. I'll stick with Insomniac's Spider-Man series and the original 4 Batman Arkham games (Origins is very underrated).

This is shaping up to be a good show. 15 or more games is a lot for 40 minutes and there are going to be some real heavy hitters. I hope Stellar Blade impresses.

@CharlieChooChoo That's what I'm saying. I get that they don't want to make an Uncharted/Tomb Raider clone, Indiana Jones just feels wrong in first person. I'll still play it as I'm a huge Indy fan and a big fan of MachineGames, but I can't deny that my heart definitely sank in my chest when seeing that the game is first person.

@Cikajovazmaj Apparently, Sony can't do anything right according to some people. They had a showcase that showed off 34 games last year and it was called a disaster. Whereas, every show Xbox does people are like "Woo, Xbox is back!" and then Xbox continues to disappoint for eternity.

@MrMagic The cadence for Sony's States of Play are all over the place. We've gone months without one (the last was in September) and they've done 2 in less than a month before. It's possible there will be a dedicated Final Fantasy VII Rebirth state of play in February, but I doubt it.

@NoHope Right? It's a different game from FF7 and they could remake it in a different art style with a different style of gameplay that wouldn't take near as long.

@PegasusActual93 Infinite Warfare was actually one of the better campaigns in recent years. I'd rank it up their with Modern Warfare (2019),WWII, and Black Ops Cold War as the best since Black Ops 1.
