It's expensive sure, but still way cheaper than the equivalent PC. Also, this is not getting rid of the base model PS5, just as the PS4 Pro didn't replace the base model PS4. Of course, this is also a result of Xbox just getting curb stomped and Playstation essentially having no competition.
@Markatron84 What's more is that whining about the pronouns for a cheap political win, ignores the actual problems that this game has. Like do you really care about 2 words in the corner of the screen? Would Breath of the Wild have failed if the character bios included pronouns? Give me a break.
@puddinggirl Yes, this game flopped due to "wokeness". Seriously? The game flopped because it's outdated and nobody wanted it. I would be shocked if this game resurfaces. Likely, it will be shelved and turned into a tax write off. Sony waited way too long to reveal the game and once it was shown, it was too late to pivot when people demonstrated that it was unwanted.
I played the early access and confirmed that this game isn't for me. I don't like multiplayer and this game did not sway me. I would have picked it up if it had a single player campaign.
@colonelkilgore There is new leadership at Sony and I'm sure they know this. The live service push was Jim Ryan's initiative. Herman Hulst came from a studio that created the most successful new single player IP of the last 10 years. We are going to see a refocus on SP games. Personally, I wish Concord had a SP campaign. As it stands, I don't like mp games and won't pick this one up.
@Fyz306903 Until the higher ups at Sony start demanding it, Playstation won't port their games to Xbox (they are probably fighting certain games like Final Fantasy VII Remake/Rebirth from going there too). The only reason Xbox is putting these games on Playstation is because MS is forcing them to.
I'm still not sold on the first person, but I'm a big Indy fan. So I will be picking this up. I'm also not even remotely surprised by this game likely being announced for PS5.
FF XIII needs a remaster, not a remake. The game spent 5 years in development for PS3, god only knows how long a PS5 remake would take when FF VII Remake took 5 years on PS4 and FFXVI was in development for nearly 8 years. I'd rather get a FFVII Remake style remake for FF VIII than for FFXIII.
@ThatPSGamer Nah, the biggest sin is the lack of a single player campaign. I guarantee the reception would be different if it had a campaign in addition to the MP.
The biggest problem is that the game got as far into development as it did. I'd much rather have seen that team work on a new single player game than waste 4+ years on a live service game.
@Cloud39472 This is just the same tired complaints that were made 20+ years ago against the Star Wars prequels, when George Lucas, you know the guy who invented Star Wars, ruined Star Wars and pissed off half the fanbase. It's like trying to claim that Spider-Man 2 is a DEI, SBI led disaster because of one screenshot of MJ's face.
@nomither6 I mean, the story is okay, but it's nothing to write home about. It's hard for me to recommend horror games as I don't really find them scary. Alien Isolation and Dead Space remake are both great games, though again, the scares don't last. Resident Evil tends to be more action than horror. Alan Wake II is excellent, though it's more psychological horror and less physical scares. Control has horror elements. The Last of Us Part II definitely has a lot of horror in in. The hospital is one of the most terrifying locations in any video game and if you have a fear of heights....forget about it.
@nomither6 They're okay, definitely overrated. I don't think Outlast would've gotten anywhere near as popular as it has if it weren't for streamers fake screaming.
Being a strictly MP title, this game does not interest me. However, I hope it is successful for both the studio and because Sony does need to diversify its portfolio. I just wish that it had a SP campaign.
Word choice is very important and Insomniac didn't say it wouldn't happen, just that they are busy with Wolverine. But we know they are also working on other projects (Venom, Spider-Man 2 DLC, and Spider-Man 3). So Sunset Overdrive may still happen. Apparently though, there are still factors in play that could be preventing it regarding MS exclusivity as, despite Sony now owning the IP, MS seems to still have first right of refusal for the first 2 potential sequels.
Not a bad list, but not one I'm personally interested in. I'm waiting to see what new classics are going to be added. I'm hoping for Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain, God of War, GTA Liberty City Stories, SSX Tricky, Tony Hawk's Underground, or James Bond Nightfire.
@Fiendish-Beaver I think most gamers wouldn't care. I'm talking about the ride or die xbots that eat up literally everything Phil Spencer says. They are the ones that would whine about a game like Spider-Man not being available on Xbox. We see the same types of games on Playstation who say they will wait for any kind of sale before buying a game they are interested in (which I get, games are expensive). However, then you get a situation where a company like Pieces Interactive is closed because their game (while not the best game ever) fails to attract an audience because players might be waiting until the game is $10.
"Those decisions are never made lightly, they're never made quickly, and there are a lot of people and processes and oversight to make sure we're making a good decision."
Okay then how did you still manage to make a bad one?
I kind of hope that Nintendo eventually gives up on exclusivity too. I imagine they could sell at least 20 million more copies of Breath of the Wild if they were to port it to PS5. At this point, I get the exclusivity argument for a year+ if you are trying to sell a console or a subscription service. But, once you reach that saturation point, there's no longer any point to lockdown a game. I imagine Sony could instantly double their Spider-Man sales if they ported the game to Switch/Switch 2 and Xbox. Though, I still think Xbox gamers would whine that they game isn't on Game Pass.

That headline makes my head hurt.

@AdamNovice That was mostly xbot cope. Astro Bot is doing well, especially for a AA game.

Ngl, I did not expect a shrek crossover
Re: Talking Point: Can PS5, PC Shooter Concord Be Saved?
If Concord launched with a single player campaign, it would have been received very differently.
Re: Rumour: PS5 Pro Still Planned to Release in 2024, State of Play Coming in September
So, a State of Play not a Showcase. I guess Sony just isn't doing Showcases anymore?
Re: Concord (PS5) - Live Service Debut Beats the Hate with Stellar Presentation and Good Gameplay

@nessisonett why? The game is fairly short and you can just play again.

Re: Xbox on Bringing Exclusives to PS5: The Industry Is Changing for All of Us
@EfYI They'll win in the same way that Sega won, by becoming a straight software producer.
Re: Xbox on Bringing Exclusives to PS5: The Industry Is Changing for All of Us
@Drago201 Sony doesn't need to put it's games on Xbox, in the same way that Xbox does need to put it's games on Playstation.
Re: Sadly, PS Plus Premium's TimeSplitters Trilogy Doesn't Have Trophies on PS5, PS4
I'll still play them. Trophies are cool, but I care more about the games themselves.
Re: Final Fantasy 16's PS5 Exclusivity Ends in September as PC Launch Is Locked Down
@Ralizah That would more or less track with Remake as that launched 20 months after the original PS4 launch.

@WhiteRabbit No, it never did, believe it or not.
Re: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Brought Forward Two Weeks, Priced at $45

It's the very definition of a walking simulator. Literally no way to fight back. The scares lose their effectiveness after the first 5 minutes.

Everywhere....except in a new Tomb Raider game.
