Re: PS5, PC Shooter Concord Dead on Arrival, Is Being Taken Offline This Week as Dev 'Explores Options'

theSpectre

@puddinggirl Yes, this game flopped due to "wokeness". Seriously? The game flopped because it's outdated and nobody wanted it. I would be shocked if this game resurfaces. Likely, it will be shelved and turned into a tax write off. Sony waited way too long to reveal the game and once it was shown, it was too late to pivot when people demonstrated that it was unwanted.

Re: PS5, PC FPS Concord's Poor Player Numbers Have Predictably Gone Viral

@colonelkilgore There is new leadership at Sony and I'm sure they know this. The live service push was Jim Ryan's initiative. Herman Hulst came from a studio that created the most successful new single player IP of the last 10 years. We are going to see a refocus on SP games. Personally, I wish Concord had a SP campaign. As it stands, I don't like mp games and won't pick this one up.

Re: Interview: Outlast Developer on Making the Switch to Live Service

@nomither6 I mean, the story is okay, but it's nothing to write home about. It's hard for me to recommend horror games as I don't really find them scary. Alien Isolation and Dead Space remake are both great games, though again, the scares don't last. Resident Evil tends to be more action than horror. Alan Wake II is excellent, though it's more psychological horror and less physical scares. Control has horror elements. The Last of Us Part II definitely has a lot of horror in in. The hospital is one of the most terrifying locations in any video game and if you have a fear of heights....forget about it.

Re: Sunset Overdrive PS5 Port Not Happening, Insomniac's Too 'Busy'

theSpectre

Word choice is very important and Insomniac didn't say it wouldn't happen, just that they are busy with Wolverine. But we know they are also working on other projects (Venom, Spider-Man 2 DLC, and Spider-Man 3). So Sunset Overdrive may still happen. Apparently though, there are still factors in play that could be preventing it regarding MS exclusivity as, despite Sony now owning the IP, MS seems to still have first right of refusal for the first 2 potential sequels.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for July 2024 Announced

Not a bad list, but not one I'm personally interested in. I'm waiting to see what new classics are going to be added. I'm hoping for Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain, God of War, GTA Liberty City Stories, SSX Tricky, Tony Hawk's Underground, or James Bond Nightfire.

Re: Sony Game LEGO Horizon Adventures Reveals Footage in Nintendo Direct

@Fiendish-Beaver I think most gamers wouldn't care. I'm talking about the ride or die xbots that eat up literally everything Phil Spencer says. They are the ones that would whine about a game like Spider-Man not being available on Xbox. We see the same types of games on Playstation who say they will wait for any kind of sale before buying a game they are interested in (which I get, games are expensive). However, then you get a situation where a company like Pieces Interactive is closed because their game (while not the best game ever) fails to attract an audience because players might be waiting until the game is $10.

Re: Sony Game LEGO Horizon Adventures Reveals Footage in Nintendo Direct

I kind of hope that Nintendo eventually gives up on exclusivity too. I imagine they could sell at least 20 million more copies of Breath of the Wild if they were to port it to PS5. At this point, I get the exclusivity argument for a year+ if you are trying to sell a console or a subscription service. But, once you reach that saturation point, there's no longer any point to lockdown a game. I imagine Sony could instantly double their Spider-Man sales if they ported the game to Switch/Switch 2 and Xbox. Though, I still think Xbox gamers would whine that they game isn't on Game Pass.
