Re: Talking Point: What Are Your PS5 Predictions for Summer Game Fest 2024?

theSpectre

2 things that I don't think are going to happen at SGF: Starfield won't be announced for PS5 yet, and no new Resident Evil game will be announced. Starfield will come to PS5, but not until after the DLC launches (I'm gonna predict probably fall 2025 for PS5 Starfield). And every one of the last 5 Resident Evil games (VII, Village, 2/3/4 remakes) have all been announced at Playstation events, with all but 1 (RE3make) being announced at a June Playstation event. I think we'll hear about the next RE game at PS likely September event.

Re: Poll: Are You Hyped for Summer Game Fest 2024?

theSpectre

I'm not expecting much. June is no longer the massive showcase it used to be. SGF usually disappoints and the only big show is going to be the Xbox showcase and we all know how that will play out: xbots will say Xbox is back and hype everything and then everyone will forget about it when the games either don't come out or come out to middling or poor reception. It happens literally every year with Xbox. I'm just tired of Playstation holding back.

Re: Latest State of Play Is One of the Worst-Received PS5 Shows Yet

theSpectre

It was okay. I kept my expectations in check seeing as it was a State of Play and not a Showcase. Astro Bot was the clear heavy weight and I can't wait for that one. Concord looks fine, I'm just not the target audience for it (I wish it had a SP campaign). I'm just tired of Sony holding back. It's been 4 years for a number of Sony studios, how much longer are they going to keep Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, Bluepoint, Bend (5 years) under wraps?

Re: Feature: Revisiting PlayStation Showcase 2023, an Event Sony Must Improve Upon

theSpectre

@J-Dubs Venom isn't even officially announced. I have to believe that Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, Bend, Bluepoint, Housemarque, Team Asobi, etc. have to be ready to show something. Naughty Dog's new IP has been in the works for, at least, 3 years. It's been 4 years since Ghost of Tsushima launched. Bluepoint has been silent since Demon's Souls (I think they might be working on Uncharted). Bend's last game was in 2019, a whole 5 years ago. Team Asobi's last game was a tech demo (albeit an excellent one) in 2020. Housemarque launched Returnal 3 years ago. Hell, Sony Santa Monica should even have something to show as Cory Barlog's new game will have been in development for about 5 years at this point. If they aren't going to pull the veil back now, then when?

Re: Hands On: Fallout 4 Next-Gen Runs Great on PS5, But Some Old Problems Persist

theSpectre

I've been playing it on PS5 and it is night and day when compared to the PS4 version. The game runs at a pretty smooth 60 FPS, there are higher res textures (still not even remotely close to the upper tier of PS4 games), and a number of broken features from the PS4 version have been fixed. That said, the game is still very buggy. People need to stop just saying "well that's Bethesda" when it comes to bugs. There are people looking for the tiniest flaws in Spider-Man 2 just to trash Insomniac. Spider-Man 2 runs and looks like a dream compared to this leaky ship. Bethesda need a new engine (badly) and they need better QA.
