Good job, Embracer. Don't give the game a chance to find an audience. Just close the studio when the game fails to sell 8 million copies in it's first week. It's a shame because Pieces Interactive really made a pretty good game and I would have loved to see them get a chance to do a follow up.
@RamboMike Well don't forget, Spencer also pushed MS to buy Zenimax and ABK to initially try and turn their entire catalogs exclusive. He even said that all future Zenimax games would go exclusive until that plan failed and MS forced him to start releasing games everywhere. If Xbox weren't going to do "slimy exclusive deals" the PS5 versions of Redfall, Starfield, and Indiana Jones would never have been cancelled. That said, I do think Starfield and Indiana Jones are coming to PS5.
Playing through Tomb Raider Legend and its not bad actually. Genuinely enjoying myself. I'm hoping we get Anniversary in the next batch of games and then eventually the EA James Bond trilogy of Agent Under Fire, Nightfire, and Everything or Nothing.
Phil Spencer does an awful lot of whining. He basically just complained that his job is hard. I think it's plainly obvious that he does not have the power in Xbox that he used to. He seemed to hint that the ABK deal was a mistake or that mistakes were made prior to and during the entire process. It seems that once MS was approved to buy ABK for $70 billion, Xbox has a somewhat independent brand ceased to exist and Phil Spencer's role has been greatly diminished.
I like how Phil conveniently leaves out the part where Xbox did the same thing during the 360 era when they had the Call of Duty marketing deals. Phil = Everything PS does is bad and they are evil. Also Phil = ignore that we do all of the same things. He's seemingly still salty about Sony buying Insomniac.
I do agree with the sentiment that Sony could use more variety in their games. However, all of their games aren't 'Sad dad sims', that moniker only gets put on The Last of Us and God of War. Spider-Man, Uncharted, Returnal, Days Gone, Ratchet & Clank, Horizon, Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, Final Fantasy aren't sad dad sims. I'd like to see Sony get more FPS games and more fun games like Astro Bot.
@Korgon I'm not so sure they are going to get the chance. I have a feeling that WB might shut them down as they are seemingly pivoting to Hogwarts Legacy as their flagship. I really wish we had just gotten Arkham 4. At least we have Spider-Man now.
Sony needs to drop the PSN acct requirement for PC. Other than that, everyone claiming this game is DOA are ignoring who this game is meant for. It's clearly targeting the Overwatch crowd. Personally, this is not a game I'm interested in and will likely never play as I don't care for MP games. But this game also isn't aimed at me.
@Korgon Not that I'm defending any decisions in regards to this game, but when this game entered production, The Avengers was not only not a flop, but hadn't even been announced at that point. Everyone was trying to chase that Destiny money and almost every single title failed. What's a bigger failure is that post-Avengers in 2020, Suicide Squad stayed in development for 4 more years and nothing changed. It's almost like WB and Rocksteady knew the game was terrible, but had spent so much money on it by that point (it was in development for 8 years by the time it released) that the game had to be finished. It's yet another reason why I'm glad Naughty Dog cancelled The Last of Us Online. We don't need another SP studio failing because of a live service game (I just wish Naughty Dog made that decision in 2020 and not 2023).
2 things that I don't think are going to happen at SGF: Starfield won't be announced for PS5 yet, and no new Resident Evil game will be announced. Starfield will come to PS5, but not until after the DLC launches (I'm gonna predict probably fall 2025 for PS5 Starfield). And every one of the last 5 Resident Evil games (VII, Village, 2/3/4 remakes) have all been announced at Playstation events, with all but 1 (RE3make) being announced at a June Playstation event. I think we'll hear about the next RE game at PS likely September event.
I'm not expecting much. June is no longer the massive showcase it used to be. SGF usually disappoints and the only big show is going to be the Xbox showcase and we all know how that will play out: xbots will say Xbox is back and hype everything and then everyone will forget about it when the games either don't come out or come out to middling or poor reception. It happens literally every year with Xbox. I'm just tired of Playstation holding back.
@Gamer_X Wow, I stand corrected. I'm so sorry. I didn't realize until you slowly laid it out and shoved it down my throat. Of course, my mistake master. Please forgive me, master. I submit myself for discipline oh chief of the grammar police. God have mercy on my soul.
It was okay. I kept my expectations in check seeing as it was a State of Play and not a Showcase. Astro Bot was the clear heavy weight and I can't wait for that one. Concord looks fine, I'm just not the target audience for it (I wish it had a SP campaign). I'm just tired of Sony holding back. It's been 4 years for a number of Sony studios, how much longer are they going to keep Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, Bluepoint, Bend (5 years) under wraps?
I hope it's 100% first party. It's time for Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, Bluepoint, and possibly Bend to unveil what they are working on. Those studios in particular have been quiet for way too long. Also, I hope Astrobot makes an appearance.
Last week it was reported RE1 was being remade and RE9 was being announced in June. This week, it's RE9 is delayed to 2025/6 and Code Veronica and Zero are being remade, but not RE1 or RE5. I'm just gonna sit back and wait for Capcom to announce something before indulging in any of these rumors.
@J-Dubs Venom isn't even officially announced. I have to believe that Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, Bend, Bluepoint, Housemarque, Team Asobi, etc. have to be ready to show something. Naughty Dog's new IP has been in the works for, at least, 3 years. It's been 4 years since Ghost of Tsushima launched. Bluepoint has been silent since Demon's Souls (I think they might be working on Uncharted). Bend's last game was in 2019, a whole 5 years ago. Team Asobi's last game was a tech demo (albeit an excellent one) in 2020. Housemarque launched Returnal 3 years ago. Hell, Sony Santa Monica should even have something to show as Cory Barlog's new game will have been in development for about 5 years at this point. If they aren't going to pull the veil back now, then when?
This will give me an excuse to actually play Crime Boss: Rockay City. I'm not too sore about all of the Final Fantasy titles leaving the service as I own them already anyway.
@UltimateOtaku91 If Xbox didn't care, they would report their sales numbers. They haven't since like 2017, which tells me that they do care and the don't want people to know how badly they are doing.
I'm mainly a console gamer, but I'm glad PS is branching out to PC. It leads to higher sales and higher player interaction making their games more successful.
I'm convinced that Ninja Theory's and MachineGames's days are numbered. Hellblade 2 and Indiana Jones won't sell enough to keep them around. Obsidian might survive being assigned to work on Fallout/TES. But Xbox is officially dead. You can blame old man Spencer for getting MS to actually pay attention to them.
I said this would happen during the ABK saga. It's why Xbox games are now going multiplatform. Phil Spencer created this mess by convincing MS to spend over $80 billion on acquisitions.
My guess is that the game will release to good reviews, possibly win a BAFTA. Fail to reach sales targets because of Game Pass, launch on PS5 next year, and then Ninja Theory will be closed.
This is just absurd, but not at all surprising. I said, after Redfall's disastrous launch, that Arkane Austin would be culled and here it is. On top of that, Xbox killed the studio that made their best game in years (Tango Gameworks). It's time for Phil Spencer and especially Matt Booty (he's been nothing but an embarrassment) to go.
I've been playing it on PS5 and it is night and day when compared to the PS4 version. The game runs at a pretty smooth 60 FPS, there are higher res textures (still not even remotely close to the upper tier of PS4 games), and a number of broken features from the PS4 version have been fixed. That said, the game is still very buggy. People need to stop just saying "well that's Bethesda" when it comes to bugs. There are people looking for the tiniest flaws in Spider-Man 2 just to trash Insomniac. Spider-Man 2 runs and looks like a dream compared to this leaky ship. Bethesda need a new engine (badly) and they need better QA.

Interesting. Ok Sony, now give us the cancelled The Getaway 3.

@RedAngel_Dragnet I'd be very happy if I could play Resident Evil Code Veronica X and Max Payne with save states and rewind.
