Re: Reaction: The Problem with PlayStation Right Now

Bionic-Spencer

Maybe Sony should focus more on making franchises that didn’t outsource their budgets to Marvel or the ilk. I can’t see Ghost of Tsushima costing £300 million to make and that sold incredibly well and probably cost a fraction of Spiderman 2s budget. Don’t get me wrong, insomniac did an amazing job with Spiderman, but after the leak from them, they are tied down to a lot of Marvel games that will cost well over a billion to make in total. That definitely worries me. As technology improves, it would be financially harder to make games that used all the capacity of the consoles, the difference from PS4 - 5 is not a massive jump from what we have seen and the console is capable of way more. Nope, I hope both Sony and Microsoft drag this generation out past 7 years and don’t go searching for a technology jump that won’t even be able to be cultured upon, because if the prices to make a new game right now are astronomical (as far as AAA goes) then the next generation will be a complete industry breaker.

Re: Xbox's Pentiment Is Out Now on PS5, PS4

Bionic-Spencer

I won’t be playing Pentiment anytime soon, but I bought it today to support the move by Microsoft putting games on PlayStation. I do honestly feel that Microsoft should have gone with a bigger game today, not saying Pentiment is bad, of course. Also, it was a bit hidden away on the store, I guess Microsoft didn’t want to pay for the advertising? 😅

Re: Despite Recent Success, Bandai Namco Reveals It Cancelled at Least Five In-Development Games

Bionic-Spencer

In all honesty, the only games that I buy from Namco are Tekken or Soul Calibur titles and that really is it. Although Ridge Racer was a popular title on the original PlayStation, I never played it myself and I always preferred Virtua Cop to Time Crisis. There was one game in the Arcades they made that stood out for me though, Prop Cycle! That was amazing fun, but probably not a great fit for the home market! 😂

Re: PS5 Is Entering the 'Latter Stages of Its Life Cycle', Says Sony

Bionic-Spencer

If this generation is anything to go by, I won’t be buying a PS6 until a few years into the next generation as I imagine the early ps6 games will be cross gen with PS5! If that’s the case, I would imagine the games to look a lot better than they do right now, because up until now there has hardly been a game that has even slightly pushed the PS5 to any kind of limits.

Re: Sony Predicts Slide in PS5 Sales with No Major Existing IPs Planned Before March 2025

Bionic-Spencer

If Sony are expecting nothing groundbreaking to release from their first party studio team over the next year and are worried about a drop off in sales, perhaps it would be a great idea if they were to stop playing their cards so close to their chest and announce which games are in Development as a way to keep interest and expectations high. Officially hearing that things like Ghost of Tsushima 2, a new God of War or the games being developed by Bluepoint and Bend would be great! I also live in the dream that a New Uncharted was in the works! Since the last game was such a huge seller, I definitely find it odd that there hasn’t been anything from that series in this generation. It would be a no brainer for me personally!

Re: PS5 Outsold Xbox Series X|S Nearly Two to One, According to Take-Two Sales Data

Bionic-Spencer

The fact that Microsoft are losing $200 on every Series X is bad enough, but the fact that they need to recoup money back on each customer through game sales is even worse, since the Gamepass model is what most people champion on the fact that they don’t need to buy games. So that $200 is starting to look a lot worse. No wonder Microsoft is potentially releasing games on PS5! We buy our games over here! 😅

Re: Capcom Currently Polling Player Interest for Sequels to Okami, Dino Crisis, More

Bionic-Spencer

I would be in favour of a new Darkstalkers game first and foremost. To remember Capcom used to have a number of beat em up series’ doing the rounds to now only working with street fighter is saddening! Also, a sequel to Bionic Commando would be a dream come true, the one that was released by Grin! I think that game was fantastic and I still play it to this day!! Strider, Onimusha, Dead Rising, Dino crisis, Lost Planet, Final Fight, Ghouls n Ghosts, Un Squadron, everyone of these titles has a place in my heart for sure! I miss them all!

Re: Tekken 8's First Balance Patch Is Out This Week

Bionic-Spencer

This is good to see that the balances are getting implemented soon. I use Jack 8 online and I don’t think he needs anything done massively to his setup! However, the characters mentioned so far will be very welcoming to see them rebalanced as sometimes it feels impossibly to fight against them, but then again it might also have something to do with the fact that I am really only playing a Tekken game as much as I am right now since 3 released on the original PlayStation! 😅😅

Re: Rec Room Dev 'Can't Justify' a PSVR2 Port

Bionic-Spencer

With both the huge outlay of cash by Sony on R&D and the huge RRP on the obviously very technically accomplished headset, with the total failure in sales, I can only think that Sony would have made a far better investment in putting all the finances and effort in releasing A Vita 2! That would never have reached the heights that Nintendo sit, but it would have been a massive success compared to PSVR2! With the streamline device selling as well as it has, it would have been even better if it had been an honest to goodness handheld. I haven’t a won’t be buying a PSVR2 but I would definitely have bought a Vita 2!

Re: Rocksteady Lifts Suicide Squad Alpha NDA in Apparent Bid to Counter Damning Previews

Bionic-Spencer

It’s a weird one. After seeing the PlayStation State of play where this was featured, I couldn’t have been more uninterested with the game. However, I signed up to play the Alpha and gave codes to 3 of my friends. We had a blast in the end, but half the fun was playing with people I knew and have gamed with for years. If it had been randoms who don’t speak, it would not have been nearly half as fun. I want to support a product that sees the final act for Kevin Conroy, but I would imagine that if I do play it, it will be a platinum trophy and nothing more. When WB see how big this game will fail, they won’t support it for very long and likely they will throw Rocksteady under the bus. I can see this being their last game but let’s be honest, with the departures of the 2 heads of the company and the main man behind the Arkham Games, Rocksteady aren’t the same company that made the Batman Games.

Re: Jet Set Radio's PS5 Reboot May Be Open World

Bionic-Spencer

It’s a pity that Sega hadn’t giving the chance to make another Streets of Rage to the guys behind the recent 4th game. I think they did an absolutely brilliant job of the game and it really did feel like a perfect continuation of the series.

Re: Pornhub Reveals 2023's Most Popular Video Game Characters

Bionic-Spencer

Be careful, if Microsoft sees this graph, I expect a massive acquisition of pornhub will be on the cards for the team in Green!! How dare people use PlayStation consoles for smutty shenanigans more than Xbox!! I can imagine Phil Spencer having to wipe the drool from his mouth as he talks in great length why that would be best for gamers worldwide!!

Re: The Last of Us' Cancelled PS5 Multiplayer Was 'More Fun' Than Any Other Online Game

Bionic-Spencer

I personally would have loved to have seen what Naughty Dog had done with the project via a Beta of sorts. It would have been great to have been able to make up my own mind on it for sure, but I do think what they have learned should carry forward into their new projects. Who’s to say that some sort of Factions will appear in the inevitable LoU3. All it needs to be is slightly better than Factions from the first game and it will me a winner. I definitely would like to know how much influence Bungie had in getting this cancelled also. I live by the idea that Bungie likely saw their entire cash cow about to disappear should this have been launched. Plenty can be said about Naughty Dog and their continued focus on just making Last of Us games, but noone can say that they don’t make games with very enjoyable gameplay. Outside some crazy decisions on the story side for the 2nd game, I personally find their gameplay to be very enjoyable for the Last of Us titles!

Re: PS5 Sales Absolutely Explode in Europe as Sony Single-Handedly Drives Industry Up

Bionic-Spencer

@jedinite Xbox didn’t ’wait for parity’, for Baldurs Gate 3 to release on their consoles, Larian couldn’t get the game to work properly with the parity you highlight because Series S couldn’t run the split screen that PS5s set of consoles had no problems in doing. So, instead of ‘waiting for parity’, Series S has the inferior version of the game. If Microsoft had stuck to their guns, Baldurs Gate 3 would have taken way longer to release.

Re: Naughty Dog Has 'More Than One' Ambitious PS5 Single Player Game on the Way

Bionic-Spencer

I would love to have seen Naughty Dog go back to Uncharted once more, but since that will never happen (via them at least), I am excited to see what they are working on next. Although I would have liked to have seen for myself what factions 2 was like, I’m glad that ND are focusing on single player games moving forward, because that really is what they are best at for sure, and I am not too big of a GaaS fan at all. I would imagine that there has been work continuing for a while behind closed doors on a new franchise from them, so when we inevitably see what it is, it will likely be a lot further ahead than we would all expect. That leaves the probability of Last of Us part 3 as the other game that is being developed, it’s too much of a cash cow to not be, and perhaps Factions 2s work will carry on into that as some kind of multiplayer akin to the first game. But, with the the amount of time lost this gen, I would not be surprised if LoU3 was on PS6 at this rate.

Re: PS5 Sales Absolutely Explode in Europe as Sony Single-Handedly Drives Industry Up

Bionic-Spencer

And to think Disney felt it wasn’t excluding people by allowing Microsoft to renegotiate the deal for the new Indiana Jones game to not release on PS5. with PS5 numbers, that’s a huge exclusions right there…

On topic, these numbers are getting crazier by the weeks and it’s still a few weeks until Christmas. Numbers are just going to keep increasing and the way it’s going PS5 will surely eclipse the PS4s sales records. It’s pretty amazing to see how Sony has simply smashed opposition even though said opposition is doing everything they can to try and halt the process without too much success at all.

Re: The Last of Us Multiplayer Project Is Officially Cancelled

Bionic-Spencer

Although it’s a shame to see this end, I always would choose Sonys First Party’s to stay focused on Single player extravaganzas than dip into Live Service games. I would like to have seen what they did work on, but maybe it will make an appearance in the inevitable Last of Us Part 3 as a factions 4 on 4 session.

Re: Critical Darling Alan Wake 2's Sales Seem Soft, But There's More to the Story

Bionic-Spencer

This would have been a game that was crying out for a couple of special editions if there had been a physical release. I would imagine that in store advertising for this was probably low too with it being digital, so most people/parents would have been buying the new COD or Spiderman. In the end, this game just came out at a bad time, so many great games have released over the last few months. I myself am massively interested in Alan Wake 2, but I haven’t yet picked it up due to so many other games to play and the fact there wasn’t a physical Collectors Edition to worry about missing out on.

Re: E3 Is Officially Dead

Bionic-Spencer

2 recent standout moments for me at E3 was the amazing premier of God of War. That was probably the best reveal that I saw over all the years that I watched it! Another was Devil May Cry 5 being announced after years of wondering if it would ever be a thing at the Xbox conference. I still watch both of these reveals on YouTube now and then and it still gives me goosebumps!😄 I watched the last 7 or 8 shows with my daughter, it was the highlight of our gaming year!! And I always used to say to my wife that July was a very important month, we got married then, but I always meant it was time for E3! She never saw the funny side of that! 😂

Re: Rumour: PS5 Pro Specs Could Leak Very Soon as Dev Kits Go Out to Studios

Bionic-Spencer

If this ends up being a thing, I would definitely wait until there was a real reason to pick a PS5 Pro up. Up until now, there has hardly been anything released on PS5 that would not have been possible on PS4 or PS4 Pro, so I would like to see literal games that would be impossible on PS4 and pushing the PS5 to the very limits before I jumped on a new console bandwagon!

Re: Original Jet Set Radio Creators Involved in PS5 Revival

Bionic-Spencer

Can’t wait to play the new Jet Set, it’s one of my most favourite games series’ from yesteryear. Played Bomb Rush recently and that did a great job of mimicking the game, but I definitely want the real deal! Hopefully Sega put as much effort into this as they did with JSRF and I hope that it doesn’t end up as an Xbox exclusive since SEGA have a new found love with Microsoft! I’d also love to see a new Panzer Dragoon whilst they are in the mood to reboot their best games! Make it happen SEGA!! 😄

Re: Poll: What's Your Most Anticipated PS5 Game of 2024?

Bionic-Spencer

I went with Dragons Dogma 2, Tekken 8, Final Fantasy 7, Rise of the Ronin and after the closed Beta, Suicide Squad! I think that Rocksteady are saying the right things moving ahead to launch and the implementation of an offline mode is definitely a showing that the game can’t be just closed down as people (and myself) had worried.

Re: Could Marvel's Blade Come to PS5? Bethesda Declines to Comment

Bionic-Spencer

This could simply be down to Microsoft and Disney still trying to thrash out a deal to allow this to be Xbox exclusive, because it will hurt microsofts pride to have one of their owned studios having to make a game for the rival dominant platform. But there would have to be a huge compensation going towards Disney, because if Microsoft get their way, this will come to Gamepass, so the monitory gains will be far less if this were to come to PlayStation 5 also. That is why I thought that there may still be a chance for this to come to PlayStation. Money talks.
I think that Microsoft will definitely be banking that this could be their big exclusive system seller, on par with Spiderman, but I don’t think it will make too much difference in that respect.

Re: Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Spotlights Its Brainwashed Heroes in Latest Trailer

Bionic-Spencer

There are a lot going on with Suicide Squad that I didn’t like the look or sound of at all, but after giving the game a go with friends (and that was a key part of the enjoyment) during the recent closed beta, and without saying too much after signing off my soul with non disclosures and the ilk, I am actually looking forward to the game now big time and before I tried it, I was not in the least interested.

Re: Lead Bungie Staff Fear 'Total Sony Takeover' After Layoffs, Delays

Bionic-Spencer

Maybe if Sony takes control and gets rid of the management that are out to keep their high paid jobs over helping employees, then actual good content will start to flow from Bungie again. Perhaps the people that left Bungie or got sacked will see that they have a chance to go back to them if Sony has full control. If, like people are saying, Sony wouldn’t know how to run a live service studio, get people in that do and want it to be successful. There has been so much talk over the last while that employees have been begging management to listen to them about implementing things into Destiny that will help get their thunder back, but management didn’t want to know anything about that. They just want to keep money rolling in, which won’t last too long in the current environment. I played a lot of Destiny 2 before lightfall came out and since then, I have hardly touched the game. It’s just getting worse and worse with each season. New blood is needed, or old blood that actually care what they put into the game. One good thing that will come out of this is perhaps the Centre of excellence will be a thing of the past, because let’s face it, after all this utterly negative news from Bungie, there is no way that any of the other 1st party developers are going to take what Bungie says about their own product with any kind of seriousness. Makes me say again that I imagine Factions 2 was looking a hellova lot better than we were all led to believe. If Bungie don’t mind sacking people that have given so much to try and keep Destiny successful, then they would not worry about trying to close down a product from a rival company because they worry about it taken the thunder away from them!
