It won’t be long before Ubisoft are taken over by someone and it probably won’t be the worst thing to happen. I had actually thought that Sony may have gone with an acquisition offer after Microsoft bought Bethesda, but now I guess it will be Tencent or Embracer Group. They need to get rid of so many people that have destroyed Ubisoft from the inside also, the work culture that they have created there is an absolute mess.
I tried it, but I didn’t like it at all! The characters talking to each other came over as an annoying teen and a Jarvis type character from Iron Man. No, I couldn’t stomach that at all. I actually did a bit of exploring rather than follow the demo path to see what the world was like and although pretty vast, I found it a bit sparse. I also have issues with HDR. I have a really good TV, but games vary from awesome to awful in HDR and this definitely falls into the latter. All in all, I cancelled my preorder after playing this and I won’t be reordering the game.
Good to see Xbox doing so well! 😅 Joking aside, any Japanese developer that allows themselves to get purchased by Microsoft as the rumours persist about would have a drastic drop in sales in their homeland going by those figures.
Usually new last of us games come around near the end of the generations, so I would expect TLoU3 to finally show what the PS5 can really do. Should look unbelievably good!
Sony should just take the deal and then spend the next 10 years working on an IP that acts as competiton to COD. That’s plenty of time to make an amazing game that is better than what Activision does!
This is just an absolute mess. Microsoft are the worst thing that could ever have happened to gaming and it’s dragging Sony down to their levels. Thankfully I can’t stand CoD, so I won’t miss that game at all, but I feel like I’m a minority at this point. All Sony should do is leave Microsoft to it, try and tie down a few acquisitions of their own before it’s too late, WB Games or Ubisoft would definitely be a worthwhile investment. It’s getting to the point that Sony will need to strengthen via acquisitions before Microsoft go for even more once they are done with buying Activision. It’s just the worst thing ever reading all this. I remember reading in a trade paper around 1999 when Microsoft were getting into the gaming industry that they intended to take Sony on and that they didn’t enter a market with the intention to lose. I knew back then that after a while, Microsoft would just start f***ing everything up to get what they wanted..
And this is why Sony needs to drop this awful practice and start including Physical editions of their games in these Collectors Editions! These editions are slowly getting more and more expensive, but with the omission of physical games, it feels more and more like we are getting short changed.
I don’t know why developers would ever let themselves be purchased by EA. They get bought out at the top of their game in most cases and slowly but surely get dissolved or closed down. EA is the worst thing in gaming. Sure Project Cars was diminishing in quality, but it’s just horrible to see how EA treat what they buy out.
I think Sony shouldn’t be removing games from the service until they get their act together as far as their subscription models are concerned. It sounds like they have so much to do to convince people to upgrade from the base tier.
I voted that I wouldn’t be picking it up, not because I didn’t want it or that it was too expensive, but it’s because of motion sickness. I would love to own a PSVR2 set and I have been Extremely impressed by what I’ve seen, but I know through use of headsets before hand that I would literally last a few minutes tops before I would be lying down feeling sick for hours!!
@Gloamin Capcom have been really great of late in offering free upgrades to their games, the Resi 2, 3 and 7 being a good point. They are also offering free upgrade pathways for Resi 4, so I would not be surprised if they were to offer a free upgrade for 7 on PSVR 2 aswell! 😄
I would have really liked to have given this a run, but the overriding factor for me is the fact I suffer terrible motion sickness. Price is pretty much as expected, this kind of technology isn’t going to come cheap, but I do think that anyone buying this is definitely going to understand where the money has gone once they put it to use. Some of the tech that Sony has used here sounds pretty insane!
I would love to see an Uncharted 5! Uncharted was one of the main reasons I bought a PS3 and PS4 as I loved the series! Although 4 wasn’t the greatest of the games, after I played through it 3 times, I really came to appreciate the story. Graphically it was an awesome game aswell, so that was a bonus. I am sounding like I’m in the minority, but I would love to have Nathan back as the main character along with Sully. The game wouldn’t have to be set directly after the end of 4, but I’m sure a new adventure could have been squeezed in after that game ended on Libertalia! One other thing I would love to see would be the supernatural approach that Amy Hennig brought to the series being replicated. I was always waiting for Ghost Pirates to suddenly appear at the end of 4, but as it ended up it wasn’t meant to be. One more time? Oh Yes!!
I prefer graphics to look awesome, so I can live with the 30fps that most games adhere to, as long as the game looks way better because of it, but considering the quality under the hood of the PS5, I don’t think it’s too unreasonable to have a higher frame rate also. Having said that, Horizon Forbidden West looked immense at 60fps and the quality reduction wasn’t life changing. I’m Really looking forward to seeing how God of War looks, that should look incredible. From what I’ve seen on Gotham Knights, I don’t think there really is any reason why there shouldn’t have been a 60fps mode in that title though. I except that there will be some kind of patch later down the line.
With the way Sony are marketing this game, it makes it feel like a first party game for PlayStation. That in itself makes me think that Striking Distance may be an Acquisition target by Sony. Would not be sad to see that happen personally.
I am more than sure that Veronica will get announced that it will get the remake treatment sooner than later. It’s probably the one that most fans would want to see. It would definitely sell exceptionally well. I also also like to see Capcom branch off into other series’. Devil May Cry 1 - 3, Dino Crisis and Onimusha would be amazing remakes with the RE engine!!!
The main thing I liked about this control pad was the possibility to replace components, specifically the sticks. Although so far, touch wood and all that, my original Dual Sense hasn’t got drift, I would feel a bit ill having to buy new Dual Sense pads if that was to afflict me. That made the Edge desirable for me….. then Sony announced the price. It’s basically the same price as 3 pads and going by Sonys pricing policy of late, I would say that replacement analogue sticks will be something ludicrous like £29.99 for a pair. Unless the stick drift was a 100% possibility of effecting the original pads after a set time the Edge may end up being worthwhile after a few years, but as it stand it’s too much unfortunately.
With all the drivel coming out of Xbox right now about all the shady deals Sony make about securing exclusive rights for games, I find this a bit of a cheap move by Microsoft. It’s like the teapot calling the kettle back. I read that Phil Spencer had said they wanted to invest in Japanese companies, so I’m guessing Sega/Atlas will be next on their agenda.
Why not do a Bloodborne Remaster? People have been begging for that for years now, that would sell great. Horizon would be the last game I would remake as it already looks perfectly fine!
I try to stick to single player games as much as I can, so although I did enjoy the game a lot, I am not in the least bit excited about the prospect of fighting enemies that can drag real people into match ups. Hopefully the game can be played offline.
Wow, that is terrible stuff. I haven’t personally bought direct from PlayStation, but I have had issues with GAME in the UK whereby they seem to do the same with collectors editions. It should be Something that all companies do, sent collectors editions to people in at the very least, packaging that can take a hit.
I will likely buy this, not because of the fact it is so highly customisable, but the idea of being able to replace Analogue sticks is appealing. Instead of losing entire pads, changing over faulty parts would definitely be helpful if there are stick drift issues. On Price topic, I imagine it will cost around £130 odd. Anything less would be brilliant though.
I believe that Sony will do a few things over the next year or 2, which is purchase Square Enix and have them as a first party exclusive developer, invest in smaller companies and have acquisitions similar to the Bungie purchase, to which I would love to see Capcom, WB Games or Ubisoft. Now, Although the die hard fans will think this is crazy, the way that Sony handled the Bungie acquisition was great in my opinion. Have basic full control of the finances, allow the games to make money from rival systems and making sure that Destiny, or whatever Bungie is working on will never be taken away from PlayStation. If this was done with Capcom ( which I genuinely think could happen ), the Resi Games, Monster Hunter and Street Fighter would forever remain on PlayStation. If Microsoft had bought Bungie or Capcom, that would be the end of Sony seeing anything on their console from them again. It’s down to the huge acquisition of Activision Blizzard and all the wangles to get the deal over the line that COD is being spoken about staying on PlayStation. Give it another generation and I would not be surprised if Sony never saw another COD again (not that I would miss it personally)
I am currently on a Capcom binge Gaming wise, one of my most favourite developers. So good to read their turnaround of late as I would have hated to see them fall by the wayside when for me personally, they offer so much to my own gaming habits!
A kick in the teeth was that GAME went early with their preorders. I had a page open from yesterday for the words Jotnar and God of War Ragnarok. This morning I started refreshing the pages around 9.55 am and Jotnar was the only one that showed up for me. Managed a preorder no issues before the site crashed a few minutes later.. Hopefully a lot of true fans picked it up instead of scalpers…
I know it’s poor, but I would probably be far more likely to play Classic titles if they were to have Trophy support. With the way gamers are rewarded with trophies, I just couldn’t see myself playing a game, no matter how good, from 20 odd years ago with no trophies to show for it.. When the service was first announced, I imagined games like Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Tekken 1-3 and the first 2 Dino Crisis games all being replayed by myself to add shiny platinums to my collection, but as I own all these games physically, I would be far better just playing them on my PS2 if it adds nothing new to that effect. As it stands, I’m just going to stay on the bottom tier PS Plus.
I have personally had a few problems with the Dualsense, so I would buy this if it was confirmed that the internal build quality was way better or that stick drift was negated entirely!
Hopefully there will be a Collectors Edition shown at the showcase. Hopefully it doesn't come with a Leon statue again. Id be all for a villain this time around!
