With Microsoft wanting all their games to be made to run on the series S, that’s going to hold the X back on everything getting released cross platform too, and that is a really big problem for Microsoft since it’s their current gen consoles. So, if Sony were to finally drop the PS4 support, which lets be honest needs to happen now, the first party games on PS5 would in theory be absolute light years ahead of what will be on Xbox, since both versions of the PS5 that are available are identical from a graphical point. That would then make it really easy for the graphic hungry casuals to see a difference between the 2 systems and the gap between them sales wise would grow even more. I also wondered if 3rd party developers would get sick of having to hold back on their visions of games for the sake of downgrading to get the games running on older generations or inferior current systems and let loose on a console that there were far less limitations on, making games that are available across platforms look far superior on PlayStation aswell. This generation is really sticky right now and it is a real pain. Dead Space looked very good since they didn’t release last gen versions, but games can certainly look way better than that did as well. The PS4 had a helluva run, but the sooner Sony and 3rd party developers drop the support, games will start to look what is expected by now.
Honestly, even if every single game that is on PlayStation was on the Xbox in Japan, there would be zero changes in the buying practices of the Japanese public. For 3 generations there has been little change in the way the console race has been, Microsoft is last place each time and it’s purely down to the fact that the Japanese would far rather support Japanese consoles rather than American consoles, especially Nintendo.
I was on playing Destiny 2 when I heard the sad news about Lance Reddicks passing and I went straight to the tower. Commander Zavala was surrounded when I landed! It was quite poignant. I stayed around for a while myself and the amount of people running up to pay their respects was amazing to see. Such a sad time and thoughts and prayers to his family.
Playing Destiny 2 at the moment and Zavala has been surrounded by guardians since the news broke about Lance Reddicks sad passing. It has been literally quite poignant. Really sad news. Thoughts are with his family at this terrible time.
Going back to the PlayStation 1 and looking at the differences of games like Tekken 1 and 3 which were huge differences between the 2. I think as the generation progresses, the base PS5 will throw out some absolutely amazing looking games, especially if developers focus entirely on PS5 and move away from last gen. I would love to see what my ps5 is capable of before a Pro is talked about!
I literally upgraded to the top tier a week ago and so far I am really happy with the games that are available to me. I suppose in the beginning it was very much lacking, but I am finding a lot of games I haven’t played are on the service. Now, just seeing Ridge Racer Type 4 being mentioned, that is brilliant news. I would definitely be happy with more PS1 games. Trophy support would be fantastic also!!
I thought the rain was pretty well done myself. Many games go with a slight drizzle, but this went with a full on storm and suited the setting brilliantly.
I hope that Sony have been working away in the background towards a few of their own acquisitions. It’s not that I think that acquisitions are a good thing at all, but if they don’t do something themselves, there is a chance that they will lose even more to Microsoft and that’s not a good thing at all. I do think Sony will find it a lot easier going for developers, as there is no way that they will be denied if the AB deal goes through. Microsoft themselves probably and hopefully won’t be able to buy anything for quite some time after this. I would like to see Sony going for Square Enix (that’s more than likely almost done anyway), Capcom and perhaps Ubisoft or WB Games. The latter will likely be on the market for a lot less than they were worth before. WB had explored selling up a while back, but I can really see it happening after Rocksteady get done with destroying their legacy and tarnishing WB Games in the process.
I still expect Sony to acquire Square Enix in the very near future, so this change at the top probably won’t effect too much. Hopefully getting rid of the silly Idea of NFTs will follow with a leadership change though!
Very much looking forward to the more Action orientation! I played the 7th instalment recently, the PS1 version and although an awesome game, the tit for tat style fighting wasn’t as good as I remember it. Devil May Cry is one of my most favourite games series, so if there was combat like that, Wow!!!
Perhaps a sequel to this game would get through Microsoft’s ‘game by game’ net that they mentioned when they purchased Bethesda!? I have yet to play the Outer Worlds, so this might be a good time to check it out!
Dead space 2 would be an easy one to remake, as the game was pretty awesome as it was and would definitely benefit from a Graphical Upgrade in line with the first one. The 3rd is a different kettle of fish altogether though, it would need a pretty massive overhaul. Getting rid of Coop would actually help and focusing on the loneliness of the planet would make it feel way more horrific. Don’t know what would happen about the story though, it was cool enough, but it might have to go with a lot of reworked areas, kinda like what Capcom are doing with RE4. I still did like the 3rd game in the series, but it was the weakest one. I would imagine how well the 3rd one gets on would be what would potentially lead to a 4th game.
When I first heard about this game, I imagined flying around Metropolis as superman and I could definitely live with that , but then it was to be centred around the Suicide Squad. I still felt it would be good as Rocksteady have been quite consistent with the DC games. Then they showed the first cinematic trailer and I still felt hyped about it. Fast forward to the State of Play and I have lost almost all interest in the title. I am not interested in buying a game only for it to die 6 months later and be usless and I fully expect it to falter very quickly. If it ever gets patched to allow it to be played offline then I would buy it, but only to support the last game that featured the unbelievably iconic Kevin Conroy as Batman.
Ever since the PS3 and 360 era, Capcom have slowly and surely been repairing their reputation with an almost constant flow of amazing games. Sure they have missteps here and there, but they really have shown that they are willing to listen to criticism and get stronger by it!! Again, their games were the most interest to me at a Sony State of Play and I can’t wait until the end of March to play Resident Evil 4 and summer for Street Fighter 6!! Also, Cammy is my main so I was super happy to see her official announcement!! Looks like she will be an amazing character and loved her redraw!!
I think it’s WB that have pushed this rather than Rocksteady themselves. I actually really liked to look of the game with the cutscenes I had seen, but the gameplay looked so far removed from what Rocksteady do, it’s unreal and I don’t think I want to play this at all. If I was Rocksteady/WB, I would have made this a 4 player coop game without anything remotely live service. I’m a huge fan of Rocksteady, but I think I’ll pass on this in its current form. It’s not worth the disc that it will come on. Also, I really felt sorry for the talented people at Rocksteady trying to hard sell this. Even their smiles looked pained with what they were saying.. oh man..
This is happening again and again. The studios that Microsoft purchase are getting to see what it’s like to work under the Microsoft umbrella and this isn’t the first high profile figure to leave after their studios are acquired. Not long ago there were departures from Playground games aswell. He is only 57, so still a few years left in the industry for sure. These guys are setting up companies to make a mark in the industry, to fight for what they want. When they have Microsoft making them throw all their hard work onto GamePass, there are no rewards for their risks. It has to work differently for the people that make the games.
The way that Microsoft backtracked on what they said before buying Bethesda has definitely made it harder for themselves to push this deal through. They messed it up on their own with this too..
The E3 that followed this presentation was the reason why I moved over from Xbox and went to the PlayStation brand almost exclusively. After getting the 100% on Gears of War 3 and getting disillusioned in the direction that Microsoft was heading, I needed a change. I watch the 2013 conference now and again to see Sony really come out fighting after Microsoft’s worst showing in years! Microsoft basically did the same as what Sony did after the PS2 era. They thought they were invincible and could do whatever they wanted and gamers would allow it.
With all the talk centering on the AB acquisition by Microsoft, it definitely has meant that Sony has been playing their own acquisitions very close to their chests! I would not be surprised if we hear about a few more of these stories in the coming months. Personally I would love it if Sony were to negotiate a deal with WB Games, but I could only see that happening if the AB deal were to go through.
I think it’s pretty good that Capcom are going to focus the show around Street Fighter 5. This will likely be the last big event where 5 will take centre stage, so there is no need to mute that with SF6 news. Everything will ramp up after this towards the release of 6 anyway! Can’t wait!!!
Maybe Bobby needs to remember that an absolute Sh*t tonne of money that has come into his company is because of the PlayStation brand?
If this deal finally goes through, I hope Sony have been quietly working behind the scenes to pounce on Square Enix and maybe even another developer or 2, because surely if Microsoft go for anymore acquisitions after this, they are definitely going to get stopped in their tracks. I can’t see them being allowed to get too much more after Activision Blizzard.
Microsoft had enough games and developers under their belts to have as many exclusives as Sony does. Sony bought Naughty Dog way before Uncharted and the Last of Us, Guerilla before HZD, Sucker punch before Ghost of Tsushima. Where Microsoft doubled down on Gears, gears and oh yes, Halo, Sony have slowly but surely been creating IPs that have flourished. Now Microsoft are complaining because they can’t compete with what Sony has done. I’m not surprised. Sony buys developers and helps them along until they are throwing out incredible stuff. Microsoft buys developers and up until now have them doing almost nothing. It’s also strange to see so many people that used to be tied to developers that Microsoft buy break away and make their own studios!?! That is off right there. Anyway, when Microsoft were at E3 lauding all those developers they had bought, there was more than enough tallent for Microsoft to get a steady stream of games. Almost nothing has come from that. Then they bought Bethesda and broke all the promises they made about them. Being a publisher, they really should have been blocked there and then. If this deal doesn’t go through, which I really hope for gaming it doesn’t, Microsoft will simply look elsewhere at acquisitions. These will likely be more like developers again.
I personally don’t like the idea of any hardware manufacturer owning entire publishers. When Microsoft bought Bethesda, they said they would look at titles on a game by game basis that they would see which ones would still be available to PlayStation. So far, nothing. All the big releases are staying on Xbox, so I’m really not surprised that this is going the way it is. If Microsoft makes all the promises before a purchase, their track record usually means that they will do the exact opposite afterwards. I just don’t think publishers should be tied to one platform and the obvious risk that is associated with that is being pondered by regulators too. In the end, this won’t effect me as I own all consoles, but I don’t like the thought of console manufacturers doing this at all.
I have both games, but I haven’t played either of them as I decided to wait until the inevitable patches were implemented to give me the best possible experience! Reading into both games a little, I feel that I am going to enjoy Dead Space the most, but I am really looking forward to seeing what the Callisto Protocol has to offer! I also expect both games to have the sequel treatment in the future, and I do think the 2nd Callisto will be a lot better than the first.
Hopefully with the numbers of consoles growing rapidly, we can leave the PS4 generation behind! Don’t get me wrong, it’s been absolutely brilliant and definitely one of the best generations for amazing games, but I would really like to see what the PS5 is capable of without having to be constrained by the last generation. I would expect that Spider-Man 2 is going to look absolutely brilliant, but the more the developers get used with programming solely for the PS5, I can envisage some absolutely amazing looking titles to come!
I am sure that the plan from inside EA will be to remake the second game if the first one is as successful as it seems it’s going to be. Then after that, the idea really should be to extensively remake the 3rd game. That could have been the pinnacle of horror games. The whole vibe I got from that was ‘The Thing’, but too much messing around with what made the first 2 games awesome really ruined the 3rd game.
Although it’s been on a massive decline over the years, I used to really look forward to E3. It was awesome seeing everything announced over the course of a few days and it definitely made everything feel like a big deal! Highlights for me over the most recent E3s was Devil May Cry 5s announcement, the awesome God of War reveal, Sonys pricing announcement of PS4 and the digs at Xbox, Final Fantasy 7 Remake reveal and the Arkham Knight showing.
I am so happy to see how Capcom turned its fortunes around, they learned a harsh lesson about their practices, especially having paid DLC on discs and have really gone from strength to strength!! Really looking forward to Resident Evil 4 Remake and it really does deserve to sell as well as I am hoping!!
I was able to find one with zero issues for my sons birthday end of last month. It was great to just walk into the store and pick one up with no problems!
I would love to see Naughty Dog give Uncharted another run out instead of a Last of Us Part 3. I would also like to have seen Nathan Drake back as the lead, I just love the Uncharted games. If Naughty Dog are done with that, then I would love to see someone else give the series a bash. The dream set up would be for Amy Hennig to be back at Sony with her own team and make a 5th. I missed to whole supernatural twist in the 4th game, although having played Thief’s End a few times now, it is probably my second favourite game in the series. Back to LoU3, I do think it will happen, but it would be the last game in the series for sure, but 2 did have enough in it to be a good enough end to the franchise also.
Considering nothing has really been true next gen graphics yet, apart from the matrix demo, I would like to see what the PS5 is actually capable of before any chatter about a PS5 pro starts gathering pace.
This Platinum run sounds very much the same as the original on PS3, so it shouldn’t be too terrible. I’m very much looking forward to playing this and I hope it does well. I would love to see Dead Space 2 getting the same remake treatment. Not because it really needs it, but then there may be the chance to remake the 3rd and that game needs a power of help to get it to the same level of quality as the first 2!
It won’t be long before Ubisoft are taken over by someone and it probably won’t be the worst thing to happen. I had actually thought that Sony may have gone with an acquisition offer after Microsoft bought Bethesda, but now I guess it will be Tencent or Embracer Group. They need to get rid of so many people that have destroyed Ubisoft from the inside also, the work culture that they have created there is an absolute mess.
I tried it, but I didn’t like it at all! The characters talking to each other came over as an annoying teen and a Jarvis type character from Iron Man. No, I couldn’t stomach that at all. I actually did a bit of exploring rather than follow the demo path to see what the world was like and although pretty vast, I found it a bit sparse. I also have issues with HDR. I have a really good TV, but games vary from awesome to awful in HDR and this definitely falls into the latter. All in all, I cancelled my preorder after playing this and I won’t be reordering the game.
Good to see Xbox doing so well! 😅 Joking aside, any Japanese developer that allows themselves to get purchased by Microsoft as the rumours persist about would have a drastic drop in sales in their homeland going by those figures.
Usually new last of us games come around near the end of the generations, so I would expect TLoU3 to finally show what the PS5 can really do. Should look unbelievably good!
Sony should just take the deal and then spend the next 10 years working on an IP that acts as competiton to COD. That’s plenty of time to make an amazing game that is better than what Activision does!
This is just an absolute mess. Microsoft are the worst thing that could ever have happened to gaming and it’s dragging Sony down to their levels. Thankfully I can’t stand CoD, so I won’t miss that game at all, but I feel like I’m a minority at this point. All Sony should do is leave Microsoft to it, try and tie down a few acquisitions of their own before it’s too late, WB Games or Ubisoft would definitely be a worthwhile investment. It’s getting to the point that Sony will need to strengthen via acquisitions before Microsoft go for even more once they are done with buying Activision. It’s just the worst thing ever reading all this. I remember reading in a trade paper around 1999 when Microsoft were getting into the gaming industry that they intended to take Sony on and that they didn’t enter a market with the intention to lose. I knew back then that after a while, Microsoft would just start f***ing everything up to get what they wanted..

Re: Motive Studio Is Keen on 'Exploring Dead Space More'
I am sure that the plan from inside EA will be to remake the second game if the first one is as successful as it seems it’s going to be. Then after that, the idea really should be to extensively remake the 3rd game. That could have been the pinnacle of horror games. The whole vibe I got from that was ‘The Thing’, but too much messing around with what made the first 2 games awesome really ruined the 3rd game.
Re: Xbox, Nintendo Reportedly Join Sony in Skipping E3
Although it’s been on a massive decline over the years, I used to really look forward to E3. It was awesome seeing everything announced over the course of a few days and it definitely made everything feel like a big deal! Highlights for me over the most recent E3s was Devil May Cry 5s announcement, the awesome God of War reveal, Sonys pricing announcement of PS4 and the digs at Xbox, Final Fantasy 7 Remake reveal and the Arkham Knight showing.
Re: Capcom on Course to Break Game Sales Record This Fiscal Year
I am so happy to see how Capcom turned its fortunes around, they learned a harsh lesson about their practices, especially having paid DLC on discs and have really gone from strength to strength!! Really looking forward to Resident Evil 4 Remake and it really does deserve to sell as well as I am hoping!!
Re: You'll Now Have a 'Much Easier Time' Finding PS5 Consoles, Says Sony
I was able to find one with zero issues for my sons birthday end of last month. It was great to just walk into the store and pick one up with no problems!
Re: Disappointment as DualSense Edge PS5 Controller Sports Smaller Battery Lasting Six Hours
I play with my PS5 sat right next to me, so as it stands I keep my dual sense wired into the power 100% of the time.
Re: Naughty Dog May Move On from The Last of Us Like It Did with Uncharted
Re: Sony Could Skip PS5 Pro for PS6, Says Social Media Scuttlebutt
Considering nothing has really been true next gen graphics yet, apart from the matrix demo, I would like to see what the PS5 is actually capable of before any chatter about a PS5 pro starts gathering pace.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 460
I am playing through Final Fantasy 7 OG on PS4 and I am also working my way though DC Universe Online!
Re: Dead Space Remake Trophies Demand at Least Two Playthroughs for the Platinum
Re: Ubisoft Boss Apologises for 'Ball Is in Your Court' Comment During Company-Wide Q&A
It won’t be long before Ubisoft are taken over by someone and it probably won’t be the worst thing to happen.
Re: Forspoken PS5 Demo to Be Updated with New Features, Bug Fixes
A patch for a demo is definitely not something that is good to read! I fear for this release big time!
Re: Forspoken Continues to Divide Opinion Following PS5 Demo
I tried it, but I didn’t like it at all! The characters talking to each other came over as an annoying teen and a Jarvis type character from Iron Man. No, I couldn’t stomach that at all. I actually did a bit of exploring rather than follow the demo path to see what the world was like and although pretty vast, I found it a bit sparse. I also have issues with HDR. I have a really good TV, but games vary from awesome to awful in HDR and this definitely falls into the latter. All in all, I cancelled my preorder after playing this and I won’t be reordering the game.
Re: PS5 Soars in Japan After Sony Said Stock Issues Are Resolved
Good to see Xbox doing so well! 😅 Joking aside, any Japanese developer that allows themselves to get purchased by Microsoft as the rumours persist about would have a drastic drop in sales in their homeland going by those figures.
Re: Rumour: The Last of Us 3 Is In Development at Naughty Dog
Usually new last of us games come around near the end of the generations, so I would expect TLoU3 to finally show what the PS5 can really do. Should look unbelievably good!
Re: Resident Evil Village Is a PSVR2 Launch Game, And It's Free
Capcom have been doing so much right for the last few years. This is awesome news.
Re: Microsoft Invites Sony to Sign Its Own 10-Year Call of Duty Deal
Sony should just take the deal and then spend the next 10 years working on an IP that acts as competiton to COD. That’s plenty of time to make an amazing game that is better than what Activision does!
Re: PlayStation Says Activision Blizzard Simply Must Remain Independent
