After all those videos and game comparisons I think PSSR should be tagged as a beta feature. Insomniac seems to be the only developer that can handle this right now. Even in Ragnarök, PSSR is way blurrier than the base version. Literally every comparison video shows the same behaviour, PSSR is blurrier than the OG 5 versions, plus additional film grain like artifacts. I was shocked to see the same shimmering on Alan Wake 2 as I did in performance mode on the base ps5.

I think the Pro would be a way better console without PSSR.

No one discounts items that are in stock since a week. NOBODY has ever done this when sales are good. And we are talking about a so called luxury item (not my words but some folks need to tell themselves that to feel better), they keep the value over the entire lifespan. After two days, the pro had a 10% discount in germany, even normal persons just sell them with a 100€ loss on ebay. You can essily get one for 700€ and this is just super crazy

I was extremely surprised by the capabilities of PSSR in those digital foundry videos when they showed the super bad film grain. Let‘s face it, PSSR seems to be good on PS Studio titles but it does look way worse than FSR on third party titles. Just look at the comparison videos of alan wake 2, it does look REALLY bad compared to the OG 5

I really want to buy the pro, since the official reveal I have put 800€ aside for this console. But for the love of god I can‘t see any difference, even when watching Digital Foundrys uncompressed and downloaded Patreon videos on my 77-inch G2 OLED. I do not expect a generation shift coming from the base ps5 but I really expect going from medium settings to high or very high settings. Literally all games that got a graphics overhaul are running in 30fps only so we can just ignore them because nobody plays in 30fps anymore. I have played every sony studio title since ps5 launch, so what am I going to play on this new shiny console? They needed at least one new title, launched together with the Pro.

@IamJT I was not rude about your fake income bragging, I was rude about your „the target audience are the people who make those 700 in two days“ statement. Like if any of those people on YT, reddit, pushsquare whatever who bought the pro make 700 dollar in two days. I just said that this is for sure not the target audience, you don‘t have to be rich to have a playstation pro. It‘s just 700 dollars, no luxury item, nothing for rich people and you sure as hell don‘t need 10k income to get one.

Your first comment was „dude I have the pro and I get over 10k a month“, you brought up your fake income. Anyone with that level of incoming surely drives a ***** car and wastes their time on a playstation website bragging lmao

Yeah dude that sounds so out of touch. As if you need to have a 120k/year income to be able to afford a playstation. And we all know that you don‘t have that income, nobody with this income would come to a playstation site and brag about that in the comments.

It‘s like saying „if you have an income under 7000$ you can‘t have airpods“

What about this is a „boot screen“..? I‘m not a gaming expert with a website dedicated to playstation but I would guess this is a „home tab wallpaper“

@mac_da_man I‘m following some apple-dedicated websites too. not a single one has like 564378 articles per day saying „WOW! the new M4 mini has THIS new wallpaper!“ or „App XYZ was just updated for the new M4 Mini!“. This IS getting ridicolous at this point now. I could easily skip those articles but you habe to scroll a LOOOOOOOONG way to see content that has not the word „pro“ in it. They could easily rename the website to „PushPro“

@DonJorginho I preordered the Pro as soon as it was available and had a hard time cancelling it, I had hopes until last minute. I love having the latest tech and for me graphics are very important. But the reality is, DD2 has the same artifacts even WITH a patch. And games with no patch do look horrible now too.

Show me any game that a) is not a sony first party title b) runs in 60fps. I really would like to see the graphics that aren‘t possible before. I know Alan Wake 2 looks better, but it‘s still 30fps which totally misses the point of the pro. I‘m curious what game you are talking about

@themightyant Did you follow those insomniac leaks? There was a leaked picture with all games listed the sony studios are working on, EVERY studio worked at at least three (!) titles at the same time, including remasters and remakes. Naughty Dog‘s new „Sci-Fi-IP“ for instance is in development since 2019, no way they aren‘t ready to show at the very least an ingame cinematic trailer. All I (and a whole lot of others) want is a line-up to be excited about. If this means „here is a CGI trailer for a game that will be released in 3 years“ that is totally fine, because this is the way the gaming industry worked for decades. We have always got CGI trailers years in advance, this is standard procedure.

I really hope they purposedly hold back games for the pro, especially when you think about the „pro was planned five years ago“ and „now is the time to buy a PS5“ statements.

Edit: It seems like I‘m really not the target audience anymore, the second user here now said they enjoy going back to old games so they will buy the Pro. Matches perfectly with the marketing we got, if Pro means „retro gaming“ then I‘m absolutely not the target audience, as I really don‘t care about old games I have already played.

@themightyant I know what you are trying to tell me but.. everyone knows, every studio works on at least two titles at the same time, so we are talking about like 40 games that are in the making since like forever now and they still can‘t show anything? How is insomniac able to have THAT level of output while all the other studios just do remasters and remakes if anything? Why is insomniac the only studio that‘s capable of showing a CGI trailer some years before the actual release? I‘m talking about wolverine.

And I still don’t understand who the target audience for the Pro is supposed to be. Sony says it’s a console for enthusiasts. But who exactly are these enthusiasts? People who’ve been living in a cave since the PS4 release and haven’t played a single game since then? Enthusiasts aren’t playing PS4 games anymore; they want modern AAA games at the highest technical level. Enthusiasts have already played everything there is on the PS5. Who on earth is this console meant for?

@LogicStrikesAgain 100% agree. Sony has like ~16 or 18 studios now, there is no way in hell that NO ONE besides Sucker Punch has anything ready to show. Even the „but games need longer development cycles!!“ excuse doesn‘t count much longer, with 16-18 first party studios you could expect 3 or even 4 new big games every year, so every studio has to release one big title every four to five years.

When is the 30th anniversary again, next month right? If they don‘t come up on that day with a big big showcase with at least 6 big major titles, sony is literally dead.

I really would like to buy one, even had it preordered but cancelled that shortly after. My biggest issue isn‘t the price or the missing drive, I‘m 100% digital since PS4 Pro.

The only issue I have right now is the absence of games or even a line-up from sony. At the time PS4 Pro was released there were a ton of games coming for it.

The Pro Enhanced list sounds great, if you haven‘t gamed a lot lately. But if you have already played all interesting titles on that list, you ask yourself: Why the heck should I buy a 800€ console if there are no games to play on it..? I don‘t mind most of the third party releases, since they are ALWAYS either a) full of bugs b) have terrible performance c) released in a not so finished state or even all together. I need sony first party titles, because they are polished af, have always great performance, literally playable blockbusters and utilize the console capabilities to the fullest. THIS is gaming for me.

I‘m like really pissed because I really want one but what should I do with it?? I don‘t even know when the next sony game is coming, propably fall 2025 at the earliest with Ghost of Yotei? Wow, great.

For the love of god, I can not understand why they just don’t give us a little glimpse of what’s coming. Just a f*cking 30 seconds trailer with games specifically made for the Pro in mind. Nope not even that, just marketing with old games and oh you can play even older games you have played 223432 times even better. Like wth sony?!

I don't know, maybe it's just a very strange coincidence. EotA is a PS5 Pro launch title and this strangely only runs on the Pro with 60fps. If Alan Wake 2 on the base PS5 packs 60fps then probably also an ant simulator I would guess. Just as it was probably also a coincidence that as soon as the first got his hands on a pro, Sony has announced that the plates no longer fit. Strange coincidences lately, right?

Didn‘t Cerny said they made the Pro because Players wanted more GPU Power? How could he know that five years ago when the base 5 wasn‘t even launched? 🤔

I mean he says a lot of things, like about those graphic modes: „removing this decision is a key target for the Pro“ and what do we have now? Even more modes lol
