@Immortal_Barnet Don't know what you're talking about, I've never trolled in my life. And I don't understand "MS shill" but if it's about Microsoft; I've only owned PlayStations so far.
Disappointing month once again. I was going to say Back 4 Blood was the only one I was going to download but then read only the multiplayer is good. So nothing for me this month.
I’m afraid 2023 can become quite a disappointing year concerning PS5 exclusives. Not that it will be bad, we’ll still have the likes of FF XVI and Spider-Man 2, but the media hype around the release schedule has just been too big.
Now that Forspoken could become a disappointment we won’t have THAT many big games releasing in 2023. Besides FF XVI and SM2 we’ll only have some Horizon side dishes and while everyone keeps mentioning FF7 Rebirth we all know it won’t be released in 2023 (Square Enix never even claimed this).
Meanwhile the Series X will most probably have Starfield, Redfall, Forza Motorsport, Stalker 2, Ark 2 and possibly even Fable as exclusives on Gamepass in 2023. My PS5 will definitely be joined by a Series X in the coming months.
@sanderson72 This will always be a matter of taste. For me personally this is the first PlayStation I gave a prominent spot in my room since it's so good looking. Even after two years I still stare at its flowing design.
How is € 699 good value for money? The console with 1 controller is € 549 so you get the second controller for only € 150?
I think Sony has to rethink their prices anyway now that Xbox will have a huge year with their exclusives. I’ve had all 5 PS’s and never owned a Xbox but will definitely buy the Series X once Starfield is out.
Before I played it I was rolling my eyes at yet another Elden Ring love letter, but since I started it myself two weeks ago I can’t read enough opinions. I just can’t believe how fantastic this game is. Every single session is nothing short of an adventure.
Just this morning for one moment I thought “have I already seen most of it”, then I beat Margit, the Fell Omen and I was hooked for hours afterwards yet again.
@UltimateOtaku91 Thanks, didn’t know that. I must say this would make the presentation a bit confusing, with the writing looking like an explanation of why the game was chosen.
“We're not saying it's without its flaws; this is a far from perfect adventure, but it lays down a solid foundation that sets us up for some potentially great entries in the future.”
Then why is it in the top 10 of best games of the year? 🤷♀️ I know it’s only a list and it is just for fun, but this top 10 is shaping up so strange with also including a remake of a remaster.
@Dudditz09 I agree with the others that responded. I quickly rage quitted Bloodborne and Demon’s Souls (a few months ago). A few days ago I decided to start with Elden Ring anyway and at the very first session I was hooked. I think I’m about 10 hours in now and I’m loving every second of it. You’re way more in control because you can literally pick your own battles and the map is so incredibly rich to explore. I never thought I would ever beat a FromSoftware boss, but I got one down in my third session without it ever feeling too easy.
@Daleaf Thanks! I’ve been enjoying the first few hours (after I started over because I attacked the friendly dude at the start that kept on killing me because of that…). When an enemy looks too deadly I just run away/go somewhere else for now. Stealthing the regular dudes in the first camp is easy fun, don’t know yet if there are more of those easy challenges scattered around.
I also feel like I made some progress so far by finding permanent stuff. Having played Returnal helps a lot for that mindset.
@Acurisur I didn’t like Yakuza 0 at all, for the same reasons I didn’t like Persona 5 (that whole atmosphere with all the endless talking and little button action). Would you say Judgment falls in the same category?
Not saying the games above are bad by the way, just not my cup of tea so I kind of swore off all Yakuza games before trying.
@Mikey856 This. I don’t even think in terms of Extra and Premium; I’m just paying little money for loads of games. If all games I play are in the Extra catalogue and none in Premium I’m perfectly fine with that.
My copy of Elden Ring will be delivered this afternoon. I’m very curious how this will work out, since I gave up very quickly with both BloodBorne and Demon’s Souls. Willing to invest more this time though.
I thought the comments would be negative, but perhaps there's more in it than I realize. Since I don't like Yakuza games, already played Far Cry 5 (the other two seem more like expansions than full-on games?), am not interested in indies and wasn't hooked by Mortal Shell I guess this will be the first month there's nothing in it for me. I'll have a closer look though.
829 hours of which I spend 115 on Returnal. It shows how brilliant this game is, considering it’s quite small, hard as hell and I feel like I played it for around 40 hours or so.
Somehow I spend 115 hours on Horizon FW as well. Quite an accomplishment since that game bored me to death.
I had such high hopes, but they’re all but gone after playing the demo. I thought the traversal would be fun, but it felt so boring. The combat was quite simplistic as well, but perhaps you need to play it a bit more to really understand the dynamics. The dialogues are the worst part, they could become really annoying if they won’t tone it down.
Overall certainly no day one buy for me anymore. Perhaps the reviews of the full game will shine a different light.
Talking about playability... I took a nostalgia trip to AC2 this week but didn't get far before I rage quitted. It's hardly playable anymore, both because of the controls (Ezio getting suicidal on top of buildings) and the fact games have evolved so much that emptying the map was just plain boring.
I'll now try Origins instead. I heard that one plays very nicely on PS5.
I feel like I’m playing for the first time on my almost two years old PS5 this weekend. So stupid, I only just figured out I should try plugging my HDMI 2.1 port directly in my Qled instead of in my antique amplifier and besides that I discovered the Game Mode and some other settings. The result is just overwhelming, even with God of War (2018) for PS4.
So many games I want to play the coming months yet there’s so much in my backlog because of PS Plus Premium that I don’t really feel the need to spend any money.
@Ravix I hope some games I’ve hold off buying such as RE: Village, WRC Generations, Stranger of Paradise, Cult of the Lamb, NBA 2K23, Madden 23, Scarlet Nexus and Ghostwire: Tokyo. It’s not just a simple wishlist but the sort of games I see up ending on the service (sports games near the end of season, the previous WRC was on it, games such as Scarlet Nexus and G:T that won’t sell anymore, RE since the other entries are on there).
To dumb this down for me: I have Premium until July 2023 at the moment. If I take the Premium deal for € 89,99 now, does my subscription simply extend to July 2024?
I’m slightly doubting because they advertise it as “Buy a NEW subscription” (translated from Dutch).
@grapetrap Exactly what I’m saying all the time. What do people actually expect to get for 20 euros (in my case)? I’ve enjoyed the hell out of the two Arkham games and for me that already justified my investment for the whole year. Everything from now on is a bonus.
@Relygon I don’t agree, I already got my money’s worth for Premium by playing Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, with Heavy Rain next in line. It cost me only € 20 a year more.
@KilloWertz I'll be playing the same two games from December on. I guess I'll have to give PS Plus a rest even though I'm enjoying it a lot at the moment.
This is going to be such a great game, every trailer is looking even better than the one before. Now it seems like it will be a lot of fun to play as well, even simply going through the environments without a clear goal. I'm hooked on PS Plus Premium at the moment, but this definitely will be a first day buy.
I didn't really like the first one, especially because of the clunky controls which made it frustrating. So far I'm getting a "more of the same" vibe from the stories, so I think I'll skip this one.

@Immortal_Barnet Strange tone of voice to use on people you don’t know. I’ll leave it at that.

Disappointing month once again. I was going to say Back 4 Blood was the only one I was going to download but then read only the multiplayer is good. So nothing for me this month.
Re: Forspoken Continues to Divide Opinion Following PS5 Demo
@MFTWrecks That’s a relatively marginal market (less than 5% of PS4 owners owning the first PS VR).
Re: Forspoken Continues to Divide Opinion Following PS5 Demo
@KaijuKaiser I don't think this will happen, but we'll see. I think (and hope) Starfield will be the game of the year and a huge hit.
Re: Forspoken Continues to Divide Opinion Following PS5 Demo
@ChrisDeku Didn’t know that, thanks. Yet still Starfield alone will be reason for most gamers on older consoles to choose X over PS5.

Perfect number 1! I think in fact it would be my number 1 in pretty much any given year.
Re: Game of the Year: John's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022
@zebric21 I hated Demon’s Souls and love Elden Ring.

Re: Huge PS Store January Sale Live Now, Get the Best PS5, PS4 Deals Here

Re: 22 New PS5, PS4 Games Coming to PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week
@Uromastryx Is it a full game or more like an extension to one of the regular (numbered) Far Cry's? Same goes for New Dawn.
